Best of the Web: 98% of French teachers say 'non' to AstraZeneca: Mass vaccination centre offering jab to over-55s is forced to close after just 58 people out of 3,000 signed up

vaccVaccination centre at the Palais des Expositions in Nice
A mass vaccination centre at the Palais des Expositions in Nice was forced to close yesterday after just 58 people turned up for 4,000 available jabs
French teachers in the city of Nice have overwhelmingly rejected AstraZeneca's Covid jab after just 58 out of a possible 3,000 signed up to be vaccinated.

The jabs were being offered at a mass vaccination centre in Nice's Palais des Expositions this weekend, with 4,000 available to those aged over 55 in high-risk occupations, meaning 3,000 teachers eligible to take part.

But the centre was forced to close after just four hours on Saturday due to lack of demand with just 58 appointments registered, and did not reopen today despite being scheduled to do so.

That means the take-up rate among eligible teachers was just 2 per cent, with one local official blaming vaccine hesitancy caused by scaremongering around the British-made jab.

Anne Frackowiak-Jacobs, sub-prefect of nearby Grasse, said people had 'turned around' when they learned they would be given AstraZeneca.

Comment: All these Covid-19 vaccines are proven to be very dangerous and can cause more harm than the virus itself. Some of them like Pfizer, and Moderna are mRNA vaccines. This technology is used for the first time in humankind to create a vaccine.

The real catastrophic effects from them (especially the gene-modifying mRNA versions. Pfizer and Moderna) should be seen in the near future even though the massive side effects and death cases that are reported just a short time after receiving them.

Australia to keep borders locked down till 'second half of the year', 30,000 stranded outside of country

Qantas
© Daniel Munoz/ReutersQantas was hoping international travel could begin by October but Scott Morrison says ‘the issues of borders and how they are managed will be done very, very carefully’.
Scott Morrison says Australia is in "no hurry" to reopen international borders, but vaccinated Australians may be able to travel for "essential" purposes in the second half of the year, with the possibility of quarantining at home on return.

Comment: One wonders what say Australians have had in this decision?

Just days after saying Australia would "have to get used to dealing with 1,000 cases a week or more" if the international border restrictions were lifted, the prime minister said on Sunday there was no rush to reopen Australia to the world.

One of the early questions has been whether vaccinated Australians may be able to undertake quarantine at home, rather through the state hotel quarantine program.

California Mayor who called for "defunding the police" arrested for child sex crimes

Mayor Robert Jacob
Robert Jacob, seen here in this photo uploaded to Facebook on March 27, 2019.
The former mayor of Sebastopol, Cal., a progressive Democrat who voiced support for Black Lives Matter rioters and defunding police, was arrested Saturday morning over multiple felony child sex crimes.

Sebastopol Police booked 44-year-old Robert Emmanuel Jacob on 11 felony counts related to sex crimes against minors.

The court records for Robert Emmanuel Jacob list one count for sexual penetration with a child under 16 years-old, five counts of lewd acts with a child age 14 or 15 being 10 or more years older than the minor and two counts of coming into the possession of a child younger than 16 for lewd or lascivious acts.

Comment: It's amazing that a criminal pedophile would support the idea of defunding the police. We bet no one could see that one coming.

Mayo coroner Patrick O'Connor said that Ireland's daily figures do not have a "scientific basis" and said that he questioned the accuracy of NPHET's reporting.

A Mayo coroner has disputed the number of deaths reported by Ireland's National Public Health Emergency Team during the last year of the pandemic, claiming that the daily figures may be "inaccurate".

Patrick O'Connor, a solicitor and coroner based in Mayo, said that Ireland's daily reported coronavirus deaths "do not have a scientific basis".

Comment: Anyone who still believes the official death numbers at this point is unbelievably naive.

Suspect tossed chemicals, Molotov cocktail at NYPD following traffic stop: cops

An unhinged motorist threw a caustic chemical at an NYPD officer during a traffic stop Saturday morning in Brooklyn — and then hurled a lit Molotov cocktail at another cop who stopped him when he tried to escape, police said.

The terrifying episode unfolded shortly before 8 a.m. at Clarendon Road and East 45th Street in East Flatbush, when cops stopped a 44-year-old man who was driving a gray 2000 Lincoln Town Car, police said.

When one of the officers approached the driver's side door, the man threw the contents of a cup holding a "caustic liquid substance" in the cop's face, and then sped off, police said.

Jim Best, who's run the Dalton School for 16 years, said he would be looking at "other exciting and inspiring opportunities," the New York Post reports.

His departure comes amid "an internal war" over the school's critical race theory-based anti-racism initiatives.

Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. And so on.

youtube censor
So, remember that interview I did with Gunnar Kaiser, which I sent out a link to on April 9, and urged people to watch it before YouTube censored it completely? Well, guess what ... no sooner had YouTube finally removed its punitive ban on KaiserTV from uploading new content — whereupon Gunnar Kaiser, naturally, uploaded the interview — than YouTube promptly censored the interview on the grounds that it contains "medical misinformation."

Of course, the interview contains no medical information at all. Gunnar Kaiser and I are authors, not doctors or medical experts, nor do we purport to be. The interview is simply two writers sitting in an empty bar in Berlin discussing the "New Normal," global capitalism, totalitarianism, cults, my novel, life in Germany at the moment, and so on.

Apparently, however, our views now qualify as dangerous "medical misinformation," which needs to be censored by powerful multinational corporations like Google LLC, which owns YouTube, and controls which information most people encounter on the Internet, and thus how people form their views of current events and ... well, reality.

Google LLC is clearly committed to protecting reality from the potentially harmful opinions of moderately well-known authors and political satirists like me, because, after YouTube censored the interview on KaiserTV, several people uploaded it onto their own YouTube channels, and YouTube promptly hunted down these renegade uploads and censored them all with extreme prejudice.

Gates unhinged: Dystopian vision for the future of food

bill gates farmland
We are currently seeing an acceleration of the corporate consolidation of the entire global agrifood chain. The high-tech/data conglomerates, including Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook and Google, have joined traditional agribusiness giants, such as Corteva, Bayer, Cargill and Syngenta, in a quest to impose a certain type of agriculture and food production on the world.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is also involved (documented in the recent report 'Gates to a Global Empire' by Navdanya International), whether through buying up huge tracts of farmland, promoting a much-heralded (but failed) 'green revolution' for Africa, pushing biosynthetic food and new genetic engineering technologies or more generally facilitating the aims of the mega agrifood corporations.

Of course, those involved in this portray what they are doing as some kind of humanitarian endeavour - saving the planet with 'climate-friendly solutions', helping farmers or feeding the world. This is how many of them probably do genuinely regard their role inside their corporate echo chamber. But what they are really doing is repackaging the dispossessive strategies of imperialism as 'feeding the world'.

Ontario walks back new pandemic police powers following widespread backlash

toronto police
Ontario reversed course on sweeping new police powers Saturday, just one day after Premier Doug Ford announced the measures that triggered a swift and furious backlash.

Officers will no longer have the right to stop any pedestrian or driver to ask why they're out or request their home address, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones said in a written statement on Saturday evening.

Instead, she said, police will only be able to stop people who they have reason to believe are participating in an "organized public event or social gathering."

As the number of people infected with COVID-19 in hospital reached record levels, Ford tweeted that another of the measures would also be reversed.

"Ontario's enhanced restrictions were always intended to stop large gatherings where spread can happen," Ford said. "Our regulations will be amended to allow playgrounds, but gatherings outside will still be enforced."
