Large snowfall in southeastern France led to a disruption of electricity supply to about 200,000 households, media reported early on Friday.

The power cuts were registered in the departments of Drome, Ardeche, Isere and Rhone, the BFMTV broadcaster reported, citing electricity supplier Enedis.

Enedis said that the power cuts had been caused by ruptured transmission lines due to trees falling on them.

With heavier more powerful cycles at our door step we as a society need to have conversations on global food security. We as a species have even forgotten major celestial events as recently as 200 years with the meteor shower of 1833 in SE USA and the Carrington event that aurora were seen in South America. Now this year unprecedented blizzards, Arctic freezes cover the N. Hemisphere and the coldest temperature ever recorded in October in the N. Hemisphere in Utah. Changes have begun.

Contrary to what the politicians are trying to foist on you, a new mini ice age - a new Maunder Minimum - has already started.

"We are plunging now into a deep mini ice age," says astrophysicist Piers Corbyn. "And there is no way out."

For the next 20 years it's going to get colder and colder on average, says Corbyn.

The jet stream will be wilder. There will be more wild temperature changes, more hail events, more earthquakes, more extreme volcano events, more snow in winters, lousy summers, late springs, short autumns, and more and more crop failures.

Germany has been met with wet and cloudy weather, with snow in the south, particularly at higher altitudes. Here's what the rest of the week holds.

"The weather remains dingy and uncomfortable in many places this week," Rainer Buchhop, MeteoGroup weather expert, told t-online.de.

On Thursday, stormy weather is expected throughout much of south Germany. In the morning winds of up to 75 kilometres per hour struck the southern areas of Oberallgäu, Garmisch-Partenkirchen und Berchtesgadener, leading the German Weather Service (DWD) to issue a storm warning level 2 (orange).

In many places - such as Oberstdorf in the Bavarian Alps, where the Mercury dropped to -10C on Wednesday night - there will be icy surfaces, said Buchhop.

Historically early and deadly Arctic blast breaks U.S. cold records set more than 100 years ago

Baby it's very cold outside

It was literally freezing in Florida and Alabama while parts of Maine, Michigan and New York were digging out from a foot of snow Wednesday as a historically early and deadly Arctic air mass gripped much of nation.

Records, some dating back more than 100 years, were toppled as the front continued its ferocious roll for a third day.

The entire state of Alabama was under a freeze warning as temperatures dipped into the 20s and below, breaking records at more than 100 locations.
The National Weather Service in Mobile citing the "widespread, significant freeze" for Alabama and Florida's Panhandle, urged residents to protect exposed pipes, keep pets warm and check on neighbors.

In Florida, the average low temperature for November in Pensacola is 50 degrees. It was 20 degrees colder Wednesday morning.

"30 here near Pensacola Beach," tweeted resident Robert Pooley. "Hate it!"

Summer might be 18 days away, but it is feeling like winter never left in some parts of the country.

Central Otago and Alexandra woke to a cool Tuesday morning, with temperatures dropping down to 0 degrees Celsius. That was in contrast to the warm highs of last week, where some areas hit the 30s.

MetService meteorologist Tahlia Crabtree said it would have felt like they were "snapping back to winter".

Parts of the South Island were below 10°C on Tuesday morning - Queenstown got down to 1.6C, but it felt like -1C, according to the MetService website.
