Florida man rescued AGAIN while attempting to cross Atlantic in floating hamster wheel

Reza Baluchi's so-called Hydro Pod is seen ahead of a 2016 attempt to reach the Caribbean from Florida.
A Florida ultra-marathoner and peace activist is facing felony charges after allegedly attempting to run across the Atlantic in a homemade hamster wheel, in what authorities said was at least his fourth attempt.

Reza "Ray" Baluchi's intercoastal stunt ended approximately 60 miles off the coast of South Carolina last week after the U.S. Coast Guard said they spotted him floating in the circular cage ― initially near Savannah, Georgia ― during routine preparations ahead of Hurricane Idalia.

The 51-year-old said he was heading for London, England, but he was repeatedly told that his vessel was unsafe and should not be in use. It was described as staying afloat through wiring and buoys, according to a copy of the criminal complaint.

Baluchi allegedly refused to leave his vessel, which authorities described as a hydro pod, and he threatened to stab himself if anyone tried to stop him.

Euthanasia is permitted in Belgium despite being illegal in the vast majority of EU countries.

A terminally ill Belgian woman was 'euthanized' by suffocation with a pillow by a doctor after lethal drugs she requested to be administered to her to voluntarily end her life proved to be insufficient, according to reports by Belgian media.

Local media outlets Sud Info and RTL reported on Wednesday that a 36-year-old woman from the Oupeye municipality in Liege opted to undergo euthanasia in March 2022, just months after being diagnosed with terminal cancer and after her condition had severely deteriorated.

Olive oil thefts on the rise in Spain due to record low harvest, and soaring prices 'keep rising'

olive oil
© AFPOlive oil production in Spain and Italy declined by 20 percent in the 2022-23 season
Spain is experiencing a wave of thefts of a particular product that has become exceptionally expensive this season, as reported by Bloomberg. Another audacious theft of Spanish olive oil, this time valued at over half a million dollars, is the latest example of how record-high prices are fueling crime among the largest producers.

Approximately 50,000 liters of first cold-pressed olive oil, ready for packaging, disappeared early on the morning of August 30th from a factory in the Spanish province of Córdoba. Thieves loaded the highest-quality oil into two tankers worth 500,000 euros in the dark, a process that likely took about two hours, according to local producers.

Food product theft is not new globally but the recent surge in olive oil thefts highlights how hotly demanded this food product has become due to a drought in Spain, leading to a sharp increase in prices. Thefts and the sale of counterfeit products in stores are another major headache for producers who are grappling with extreme weather conditions, rising costs and concerns about demand as cost-conscious consumers cut back.

Comment: For an increasing number of people across the planet, including the West, it's not about being 'cost conscious', it's about being forced to choose between eating something of inferior nutritional quality or not eating at all: Food prices in Italy soar past twice the rate of inflation

Comment: We can expect thefts, adulteration, and contamination crimes to increase as the increasing extreme weather events, export bans, and the highly suspect food plant explosions and fires put ever more pressure on the already vulnerable food supply chain, and, as if these pressures weren't enough, they're made even worse thanks to government and industry incompetence and corruption:

'This is the liberal insanity every parent wants out of the classroom,' Oklahoma's education superintendent said.

The superintendent of the State of Oklahoma, Ryan Walters, called for Western Heights School District to "immediately" terminate a drag queen they hired to be an elementary school principal.

"It's outrageous to have a drag queen running a school, you know, here in Oklahoma that doesn't line up with Oklahoma values," Walters told Fox News Digital. "I hear from parents every day that are concerned with this woke left-wing indoctrination or schools, this gender theory that continues to be thrust upon our kids. It's completely inappropriate."

Costa Coffee has recalled some of its range of sandwiches and wraps after it emerged that they could contain small stones.

The UK's largest high-street coffee chain warned customers that four of its products could be affected, and that they could pose a choking hazard if they were eaten.

The products are Costa's chicken and bacon caesar wrap, southern fried chicken wrap, chicken salad sandwich and bacon, lettuce and tomato (BLT) sandwich, with the recall applying to those with use-by dates from 6 to 8 September.

The company, which has more than 2,800 coffee shops in the UK and Ireland, said in a statement it was taking the matter "extremely seriously" and apologised for any concern caused by the recall.

A European Commission report claimed last week that 'pro-Kremlin' narratives were rampant on the platform.

There is no evidence that Moscow has been misusing X (formerly Twitter) to spread its "propaganda" online, billionaire Elon Musk has said. It followed the publication of an EU report last week, which alleged that Russia was conducting "disinformation campaigns" on social media.

"Where is all this pro-Russia propaganda? We don't see it," the entrepreneur posted on X on Thursday in a reply to independent journalist Glenn Greenwald.

Kerry Lemieux has shown what a joke Ontario's school system is

Kerry Lemieux
© Ernest Doroszuk/Toronto SunKerry Lemieux at his new school in Hamilton, left, and last year in Oakville wearing a wig and fake breasts
Kerry Lemieux has proven one thing: The emperor that is Ontario's education system has no clothes.

The system is a joke, a self-parody, a stereotype of woke culture and all that is wrong with it.

Last year, Kerry Lemieux showed up to classes at Oakville Trafalgar High School wearing ridiculously large prosthetic breasts, a blonde wig and tiny bike shorts. The kids giggled in the class and in the hallways, parents raised concerns as did the Ministry of Education, but the board defended Lemieux and his ridiculous appearance.

Now Lemieux is back in the classroom, this time at Hamilton's Nora Frances Henderson High School, and dressed as a man. He has been spotted wearing cargo shorts, a golf shirt and even sporting a beard. Gone are the Z-cup fake breasts, gone is the wig and the tight bike shorts.

The students are told to address him as Mr. Lemieux.

Lemieux isn't talking, the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board says it's a private personnel matter, which is the same kind of runaround the Halton board gave those inquiring last year. It's an infuriating stance for anyone who wants answers on what the heck was going on last year and why school officials went along with Lemieux's bizarre actions.

Comment: If he was indeed 'punking' us, that was some next-level trolling. See also:

How the mighty have fallen: Harvard is named worst school for free speech — scoring zero out of possible 100

harvard college worst free speech
© Associated PressHarvard's score tanked for a number of reasons, not the least of which being the nine professors and researchers at Harvard who'd faced calls to be punished or fired in the last few years based on things they'd said or written
Harvard University is officially 2023's worst school for free speech.

The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) released its annual college free speech rankings on Wednesday, which dubbed the state of free speech at the Ivy League school "abysmal."

"I'm not totally surprised," Sean Stevens, director of polling and analytics at FIRE, told The Post. "We've done these rankings for years now, and Harvard is consistently near the bottom."

Despite being the most acclaimed academic institution in the country, Harvard received a 0.00-point free speech ranking on a 100-point scale — a full 11 points behind the next-worst school.

FIRE says the dismal score was "generous," considering Harvard's actual score was a -10.69, according to its calculations.

Joe Biden's Justice Department is turning the screws on Trump's Mar-a-Lago IT worker.

Mar-a-Lago IT worker Yuscil Taveras will testify in Jack Smith's classified documents case against Trump to avoid prosecution.

Trump was indicted on 37 federal counts related to Jack Smith's classified documents case in Miami in June.

Trump was charged with 31 counts of willful retention of national defense information and 6 other process crimes stemming from his conversations with his lawyer.

Last month Jack Smith hit Trump with 3 additional charges in the investigation into classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago.

The superseding indictment, filed in the Southern District of Florida, claims Trump was part of a scheme to delete security footage from Mar-a-Lago.

IT worker Yuscil Taveras was named as "Trump Employee 4" in the superseding indictment, according to CNN.
