Chinese companies have greatly benefited from the pullout of Western companies from the Russian market, Zhou Liqun, chairman of the Chinese Entrepreneurs' Union of Russia, told RT on Sunday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Zhou said Chinese businesses have been actively filling the niches left by the exit of Western companies and are eager to expand their presence in Russia further.
"The withdrawal of Western companies from Russia has created vast opportunities for Chinese businessmen and enterprises to cooperate with Russia. For example, in the vehicle manufacturing sector: many Chinese carmakers have entered the Russian market throughout the past year. While previously they made up only 5-6% of the market, now it is almost 40%."
He noted that China has been among Russia's major trade partners for the past 14 years, and both countries have created many platforms and opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Mount Fuji, one of Japan's sacred mountains and a popular pilgrimage site, faces a crisis if the number of visiting tourists is not brought under control, local authorities have warned.

"Fuji is screaming in pain. We can't just wait for improvement," Masatake Izumi, a Yamanashi prefectural government official, told CNN during a tour for foreign media on Saturday, adding that "overtourism" needs to be tackled urgently.

"Fuji faces a real crisis" because of the "uncontrollable" flow of tourists, Izumi was quoted by Reuters as saying. "We fear that Mount Fuji will soon become so unattractive, nobody would want to climb it," he said.

According to government officials, the post-Covid tourism boom has brought thousands of hikers to the mountain, causing environmental damage and placing extra pressure on local first aid services.

Despite the introduction of a campaign urging visitors not to litter, with volunteers removing tons of trash each year, both hikers and caretakers complain about overcrowding and the piles of litter left along the path.

No, not yet anyway.

Women with medical education to be banned from leaving Ukraine and forced to sign up for military service - Kyiv Post

Ukraine women soldier troop military
Starting from October 1st, women with medical and pharmaceutical education may be required to register for military service but it is not yet clear whether they will be subject to travel restrictions from Ukraine. This might be similar to men aged 18-60 who are subject to mobilization, as reported by the Kyiv Post newspaper.

According to reports published on the parliament's website and later removed, Fedir Wenisławski, the representative of the President of Ukraine in the Supreme Council and a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence of the Supreme Council, announced that women must register with military commissions and may not be allowed to leave the country from October 1st.

Wenisławski claimed that after registration, women would be considered conscripts and would be subject to specific procedures regarding foreign travel.

Comment: Amidst the failing proxy war against Russia, the signs of desperation from the Kiev junta, and the West, are glaring, and grim:

© /Felipe Dana, File) The Associated PressFILE - Afghans gather under a bridge to consume drugs, mostly heroin and methamphetamines in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Sept. 30, 2021. Afghanistan is the world’s fastest-growing maker of methamphetamine, a report from the United Nations drug agency said Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023. The country is also a major opium producer and heroin source, even though the Taliban declared a war on narcotics after they returned to power in August 2021.
Afghanistan is the world's fastest-growing maker of methamphetamine, a report from the United Nations drug agency said Sunday. The country is also a major opium producer and heroin source, even though the Taliban declared a war on narcotics after they returned to power in August 2021.

The United Nations' Office on Drugs and Crimes, which published the report, said meth in Afghanistan is mostly made from legally available substances or extracted from the ephedra plant, which grows in the wild.

The report called Afghanistan's meth manufacturing a growing threat to national and regional health and security because it could disrupt the synthetic drug market and fuel addiction. It said seizures of meth suspected to have come from Afghanistan have been reported from the European Union and east Africa.

Comment: Perhaps if the US hadn't occupied and wrought chaos in Afghanistan during its nearly 2 decades of occupation, and, more recently, if it hadn't stolen $7 billion dollars from its central bank, then its government might be able to do something about the drug problem; however, as it is, the people of Afghanistan are facing famine, and they've got to earn a living somehow. Further, it's likely that the trafficking of these drugs is being done by those affiliated with the West: US to split $7 billion STOLEN from Afghanistan's central bank between 9/11 families & aid groups, as Afghans suffer starvation

Several employees were injured at an Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) (ADM.N) facility in Decatur, Illinois, after an explosion within its processing complex, the company said in a statement on Sunday night.

Eight ADM personnel were taken to hospital via ambulance, with the extent of their injuries unknown at the time, fire department official Dan Kline said in an emailed statement, adding that the fire that was now under control.

ADM said the incident happened at 7:11 p.m. CDT (0011 GMT) and that the injured had been taken to a hospital.

The company said it did not have a confirmed cause of the incident as of Sunday night.

Comment: Given the plants function and importance, it seems reasonable to suspect that this is yet another food processing plant fire that was likely due to sabotage, with the intention to further disrupt the food supply chain: Huge fire erupts at grain silos at French Atlantic port, follows explosions of silos in Turkey, Brazil, in last 2 weeks (10th August 2023)

Below is just a selection of some of the other food plant fires in the last year or so:

'Is there no redemption?': 7 Hollywood stars who are blasting cancel culture

Jennifer Aniston
© Jordan Strauss/Invision/APJennifer Aniston arrives at the fourth annual InStyle Awards on Oct. 22, 2018, in Los Angeles. Aniston is among the celebrities taking part in an Aug. 20 virtual reading of the script for 1982's “Fast Times at Ridgemont High" as an online fundraiser.
When it comes to navigating the perils of cancel culture, many have gone along to get along, letting the fear of being labeled, diminished, and relegated to the proverbial dustbin of history force them into a terrified, neutered silence.

But while too many have folded under the weight of the cancel culture mob, it seems there's a growing wave — even among some surprising Hollywood elite — against cancel culture and toward a more reasonable approach to disagreement and divergent opinion.

The most surprising voice to weigh in against the tides of cancel culture chaos is actress Jennifer Aniston. The "Friends" star recently told the Wall Street Journal Magazine she's "so over" cancel culture and fails to understand it.
