Sweden failed to integrate immigrants - Prime Minister

Amid violent riots Magdalena Andersson has admitted serious flaws in country's migrant policy.

Segregation in Swedish society has gone "too far" and the integration of immigrants is "too poor," Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson admitted on Thursday, following the violent riots there earlier this month. The unrest erupted after an anti-Muslim politician, Rasmus Paludan, announced a burning "tour" of the Quran during the holy month of Ramadan.

The riots saw dozens of people arrested, a school set on fire and more than 100 police officers injured, in a country where, during the migration crisis of 2015, around 163,000 migrants requested asylum - more people per capita than in any other EU nation.

Comment: More from Breitbart:
As early as 2016, police in Sweden admitted to having lost control of 55 so-called no-go areas, where crime rates spiralled in parallel with mass migration. At the time police officers admitted that they had lost the ability to effectively enforce the law and were reduced to merely reacting to surges in theft, sexual assault, and gang crime.

On top of the ill effects of having heavily segregated communities, statistics of shown that the migrant population is significantly lagging behind native-born Swedes economically, with migrants experiencing a much higher unemployment rate.

One of the reasons cited for the disparity is the comparative education level, with reports previously showing that nearly half of unemployed migrants did not have a high school education, compared to just 18 per cent of the native population.

Following the recent riots during Easter, the Swedish government has announced that it will be looking into adopting stricter systems to combat juvenile delinquency, including potential electronic monitoring of children after school in order to ensure that they go home in order to prevent teens from joining gangs.

Vijaya Gadde in line to be booted out from Twitter; bad karma, or fair price for being Democrat foot soldier?

Vijaya Gadde, Twitter's top lawyer, may soon lose her position as is evident from the critical tweets posted by none other than Elon Musk, the company's new owner. Gadde is the second Indian after Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal to have come in the firing line of Elon Musk.

Musk's tweets have kickstarted a chain reaction on social media as some of the followers are hurling racist insults at Gadde. Whereas, some of the followers have termed it as an act of "racism" on the part of Musk stating that this is blatant and in a bad taste.

Comment: This is ridiculous. Apparently Indians are a protected class who can't be fired from their jobs without bringing on accusations of racism from the wokies. Gadde and Agarwal are part of the old guard of Twitter who are at least partly responsible for the overly partisan manifestation of the platform as we see it today. If they're fired it's because of their ideological stance and their inability to separate the political life from their work life. It's not because of their race (as if this actually has to be stated).

'Grooming' perfectly describes 'ideological manipulation' in schools: former teacher

The former public school teacher said kids are groomed on a regular basis, regardless of whether the grooming is sexual in nature every time.

A former Indianapolis curriculum coordinator and public school teacher says "grooming" is the "perfect word" to describe what happens in classrooms.

Tony Kinnett, previously put on leave and then fired for exposing critical race theory in schools, explained how "grooming" occurs in classrooms.

He said it can occur with both racial and sexual topics.

Comment: Many parents are ignorant of what their children are being indoctrinated with in school, and this is by design. The wedge being driven between parents and children is a nefarious means the wokies are using to implement their agenda. Parents need to wake up.

President Bashar Assad's decree does not, however, pardon anyone involved in killings.

Syrian President Bashar Assad issued a decree on Saturday granting amnesty to Syrians for terrorist crimes up to the end of April, except those leading to death. Assad has extended similar olive branches to deserters, criminals and opposition fighters before, often to the displeasure of the US.

Assad's decree, first reported by Syrian state media on Saturday, "grants a general amnesty for terrorist crimes committed by Syrians before [Saturday], except for those that led to the death of a person."

At least 42 injured as violent clashes in Jerusalem mark end of Ramadan

Violence has erupted for the second Friday in a row at Jerusalem's al-Aqsa Mosque which sits atop Temple Mount. At least 42 Palestinians have been reported injured after severe clashes with Israeli police, after reports of youths hurling rocks and fireworks at Jewish worshippers gathered at the Western Wall below.

Tensions were already high throughout this month given the overlap of Ramadan and the Jewish celebration of Passover this year, which meant huge throngs of Jews and Muslims converging on the walled old city at the same time.

Israeli media says at least 160,000 people attended Friday's Ramadan prayer at al-Aqsa, which is considered Islam's third holiest site after Mecca and Medina.

Haaretz writes of the fresh violence that
"Hundreds of young Palestinians fired fireworks and threw rocks within the compound, with some also hurling rocks towards the Western Wall and Mughrabi Bridge. One fell in the Western Wall plaza, though no one was reported injured."
Israeli police responded with stun grenades and rubber bullets, and following this,
"The rioters reportedly barricaded themselves in the mosque, leading police to try to break down the doors. Police said they arrested two people, and that the riots simmered down ahead of the midday prayers."

Ontario university research positions restricted to those who are women, transgender, non-binary or two spirit

'Somehow, we've embraced this false notion that discrimination can be good and it simply cannot'

The University of Waterloo has restricted hiring for at least three top-tier research positions to certain demographic groups, in two instances excluding applications from all cisgender men — whether they are white or people of colour — and in another refusing applications from anyone who doesn't identify as Indigenous.

The restrictions are aimed at addressing a lack of diversity among Canada Research Chairs — 2,285 prestigious positions funded by the federal government and based at postsecondary institutions across the country. But some argue excluding people from the hiring process is not the best way to eliminate discrimination.

The mayor said authorities want to avoid a repeat of the previous disturbances

Canadian police said seven people were arrested and 24 vehicles were towed at a motorcycle rally in downtown Ottawa on Friday.

Bikers rolled into the country's capital, while a group of anti-Covid mandate protesters on foot gathered outside the parliament building, some holding Canadian flags and playing loud music.

"There have been no reported injuries, and police remain in full control of city streets," the Ottawa Police Service said, as vehicles were barred from entering certain areas around Parliament Hill.

Comment: The Ottawa Police department is spoiling for a fight, regardless of the behavior of the bikers:. The Ottawa Police chief looks ridiculous, :

France's nuclear shutdown hits 50% of reactors, squeezing supply

france nuclear energy plant
A nuclear energy plant in France
The halt of yet another nuclear unit in France means half of its reactors are now offline for maintenance, keeping power supplies tight in a country that is traditionally one of Europe's biggest electricity exporters.

Twenty-eight reactors are offline as Electricite de France SA struggles with extended outages after corrosion issues were found at some sites, requiring lengthy checks and repairs. The extra works come on top of already scheduled halts for refueling and regular maintenance, and has brought French nuclear output to the lowest in more than decade for the time of year.

FDA announces proposed ban on menthol-flavored cigarettes

The Food and Drug Administration announced on Thursday a proposed ban on menthol cigarettes and all flavors in cigars, a move that could further drive down smoking rates in the U.S.

The FDA will solicit comments from the public before finalizing the rule, a process that could take years. But advocates say it's a step in the right direction, pointing to one research model that estimated banning these flavors could lead to a 15% decline in tobacco use by 2026.

Smoking is the main cause of lung cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the U.S., menthol cigarettes represent over a third of cigarette sales, with almost 19 million users. Black Americans have disproportionately high rates of menthol smoking, a consequence of years of racially targeted advertising.

Comment:
More Nanny-State nonsense targeting communities "for their own good." Maybe the government doesn't know what's best for you and shouldn't be making these kinds of decisions.
