Violent May Day clashes in Paris

Protesters march during the annual May Day (Labour Day) rally, marking International Workers' Day, in Paris on May
Thousands of protesters packed the streets of Paris on Sunday to mark May Day, an annual day of demonstration by socialists and trade unions. With masked 'black bloc' anarchists among the crowd, violence and vandalism soon followed.

At least 5,000 police officers were deployed to the streets of the French capital, backed up by armored cars and water cannons. This year's protests came a week after French President Emmanuel Macron was re-elected, and with around 250 demonstrations planned in the city alone, trade union boss Philippe Martinez called on citizens to "take to the streets" and make the protests "as massive as possible."

US pediatricians' group moves to abandon 'race-based' guidance

elementary school children grooming
For years, pediatricians have followed flawed guidelines linking race to risks for urinary infections and newborn jaundice. In a new policy announced Monday, the American Academy of Pediatrics said it is putting all its guidance under the microscope to eliminate "race-based" medicine and resulting health disparities.

A re-examination of AAP treatment recommendations that began before George Floyd's 2020 death and intensified after it has doctors concerned that Black youngsters have been undertreated and overlooked, said Dr. Joseph Wright, lead author of the new policy and chief health equity officer at the University of Maryland's medical system.

The influential academy has begun purging outdated advice. It is committing to scrutinizing its "entire catalog," including guidelines, educational materials, textbooks and newsletter articles, Wright said.

Comment: There is a certain kernel of truth to the association's move. Genetic differences, ranging from sex-based hormonal differences, to those susceptible to, or protected from, diseases due to their ethnic heritage should figure into assessing the health of an individual. But, and it's a big but, those nuances should never be hijacked to promote social justice agendas.

PayPal cancels Consortium News account; poised to seize balance

The online payment system gave no warning or reason why Consortium News' account has been "permanently limited." PayPal indicated that only if "applicable" will the balance be returned.

PayPal has canceled Consortium News' account without any prior notice or due process and with virtually no explanation.

As Consortium News is today launching its Spring Fund Drive, it has lost one of its most important ways for its viewers and readers to show their support through donations. Clicking on the yellow PayPal donate button on our home page now yields a message that the account is "ineligible to receive donations".

PayPal has sent an email to CN that says:
"You can't use PayPal anymore. ... We noticed activity in your account that's inconsistent with our User Agreement and we no longer offer you PayPal services. ... Because of potential risk exposure, we've permanently limited your account. You'll no longer be able to use the account for any transactions."

Comment: Free speech is clearly not one of PayPal's priorities, and its close ties with the NSA are hardly reassuring. Perhaps Musk should set his sight on it next?

True the Vote's Catherine Engelbrecht: 'Mules' went on routes trafficking ballots 'repeatedly, day after day' ahead of the 2020 election

Dirty voter rolls, the mass use of mail-in ballots, and privately-funded drop boxes "combined together to create an easy pass lane for fraud," as "mules" — or ballot traffickers — trafficked thousands of ballots, likely altering the outcome of the 2020 election, True the Vote president and founder Catherine Engelbrecht told Breitbart News Saturday.

Engelbrecht, who leads the election integrity organization True the Vote, previewed the upcoming film by Dinesh D'Souza, 2,000 Mules, which blows the lid off of the "organized crime" that took place leading up to the 2020 election. The film used data obtained by True the Vote, as Engelbrecht noted that they had so many calls "that had a similar characteristic of concern around what was happening with mail ballots and drop boxes." Because of that, they focused on that issue.
"We geo fenced or put a sort of a digital fence, if you will, around all the drop boxes, and then we bought a tremendous amount of cellphone data and cellphone data that is transferred off of the apps of your phone that give you great indication about the whereabouts, the time, [and] the location."
She noted that they watched the travel patterns of devices going to drop boxes, doing so in five states in five jurisdictions. At the same time, the organization fought for surveillance video around the drop boxes and were ultimately able to thread it all together, as seen in the film.

The new head of the ministry of truth has a long history of spreading misinformation

Jankowicz
© FOX NewsNina Jankowicz
From Douma to Russiagate to Hunter Biden's laptop Nina Jankowicz has spread almost every fake news story from the security state.

Joe Biden has recently created a Disinformation Governance Board as part of the right-wing department of homeland security. To head this board Biden chose Nina Jankowicz a woman with a long history of spreading disinformation and attacking journalists critical of American empire.

Some Background on Nina Jankowicz

In the independent outlet Mulitpolarista, journalist Ben Norton wrote an in-depth expose of Jankowicz's background. According to Norton's investigation, Jankowicz started her career working for the National Democratic Institute, an extension of the C.I.A cutout the National Endowment for democracy. When working there, Jankowicz worked on "democracy assistance programs" in Russia and Belarus. These were most likely regime change operations given the fact that the National Endowment for Democracy and its offshoots have been caught attempting regime change in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and elsewhere. Ben Norton reported that after working for the NDI Jankwicz advised Ukraine's right-wing post-Maidan government and later worked for the U.S. government-backed think tank Wilson Centre.

Jankowicz herself spread misinformation

One of the biggest dangers of Nina Jankowcz being in charge of controlling "disinformation" is that she herself is guilty of spreading disinformation in support of the U.S. government narrative.

Conservatives urge Texas AG Paxton, Gov. Abbott to declare southern border crisis an 'invasion'

For nearly a year, conservatives in Texas have been calling on state Attorney General Ken Paxton and Gov. Greg Abbott to declare the influx of people and drugs illegally entering Texas as an invasion.

It's been a month since Republican state Rep. Matt Krause, chair of the Committee on General Investigating, requested Paxton to provide a legal opinion on the matter. He asked Paxton to determine if the federal government has failed to uphold its obligations to protect Texas from invasion under Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution and whether Texas has the sovereign power to defend itself from invasion.

Responses usually take a minimum of 180 days. However, speculation continues over whether Paxton will issue an opinion before the May 24 runoff election after not receiving 50% of the vote in the March 1 primary election.

Krause and others have told The Center Square the AG's office is working on the opinion. Paxton's office didn't respond to requests for comment.

Some 100 people have left a steel plant in the city of Mariupol, Kiev has announced

Some 100 people have left the sprawling Azovstal steel plant in the Black Sea port city of Mariupol and are heading to territory controlled by Ukrainian forces, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed in a Twitter post on Sunday. The plant remains the last pocket of Kiev's resistance in the city otherwise controlled by Russian forces and the militias of the Donbass republics.

Ukrainian officials are still working together with UN representatives on evacuating civilians from the area, Zelensky outlined, adding that the evacuees will be transferred to the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye on Monday.

Comment: Those evacuees who chose to go to Russian-held areas had plenty to say about their captors:

A new survey of young Israeli adults has found that nearly half of the population in the occupied territories is not optimistic about the future of the Israeli entity, while more than one-third of people are thinking about immigration to find jobs and improve their lives.

The poll was conducted by the Israeli Fenima research center as part of an investigation to find a solution to reduce social fragmentation within the Israeli society.

The research center described its findings, which were published by the Hebrew-language Israel Hayom daily newspaper on Sunday, as "worrying" and wrote that 33% of Israeli youths are considering immigration from the occupied lands. Also, 44% of them feel there is no future for the regime.

Issues such as rising living costs, security situation and social divisions are among other reasons for young Israeli adults to mull over leaving the occupied territories.

Panicked CNN guest wonders "how we're going to control the channels of communications in this country"

david zurawik cnn
Declares that if Elon Musk 'controls discourse' "We are headed to hell."

A CNN talking head declared Sunday that if Elon Musk is allowed to buy Twitter, the platform will have to be government regulated to prevent 'discourse' being open and free, and not subject to establishment controlled censorship.

While discussing the Musk take-over on CNN's potato time with Brain Stelter, "media analyst" David Zurawik proclaimed that Musk is "dangerous" and shouldn't be allowed to restore free speech on the platform.

Comment: They're not even trying to keep up a pretense at this point. This hysterical junior jackboot is trying to spread moral panic about freedom of speech - that people might actually be able to say what they want to say, one of the founding tenets of the founding of the US. Even ten years ago this guy would have been labelled a commie and roundly ignored.
