Big Tech is trying to silence women who speak out against radical feminism, author Carrie Gress told RT, after a Catholic store claimed that Facebook had taken down ads for her book on 'toxic femininity'.

A Catholic gift store, Guadalupe Gifts, said it was told by Facebook that it could not sell Gress's book on its platform because the item did not comply with the social network's "commerce policies."

"The book's been out for two years, so to get that kind of response at this point seems a bit ridiculous," Gress told RT.

In a late January email to the store, cited by the news website The College Fix, Facebook said: "Listings may not promote the buying, selling, or use of adults products."

China's capital city will hand out about $1.5 million in a limited trial of the central bank's digital currency, the municipal government announced over the weekend.

That marks the third major test of the digital currency under development by the People's Bank of China. The cities of Shenzhen and Suzhou held similar experiments in the last few months.

In this trial, Beijing said it will select 50,000 from a pool of applicants to receive 200 yuan, or about $30 each, in the digital currency. Recipients can spend the money at designated offline locations or on parts of e-commerce site JD.com during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.

Question

Facebook's new expert on 'online disinformation', Ben Nimmo, was a fantasy fiction writer. Has he really given that up?

The tech giant's self-styled 'troll-finder-general' is touted as an authority on alleged Russian 'information warfare' - but any objective look at his background and track record raises troubling questions over his capabilities.

On February 5, Ben Nimmo announced he will with immediate effect be joining Facebook, to help the social media monopoly "lead global threat intelligence strategy against influence operations."

It's a shocking development, yet somehow an entirely unsurprising one. After all, despite having less than no discernible professional or educational background in social media, data analysis, information technology, or digital research, in recent years he's enjoyed a stratospheric rise to mainstream prominence as an expert on online "disinformation," and a series of well-remunerated posts at a number of state-backed and quasi-state organizations.

Myanmar police fire water cannon amid largest protests in over a decade

Police opened fire with water cannon on Monday in Myanmar's capital, Naypyidaw, to disperse thousands of protesters who had gathered to demand the release of elected civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and the restoration of her National League for Democracy (NLD) government.

The national demonstrations, which entered their third straight day, are the largest and most widespread since 2007 when protests paved the way for an end to military rule and new democratic elections.

This time they are in response to a military coup carried out last Monday, when generals rounded up the country's top political leaders, including Ms Suu Kyi, and declared "emergency rule".

Minorities reject UK's experimental Covid-19 jab, inoculation centre closes early due to lack of volunteers

A Covid-19 vaccination centre in east London was forced to close its doors early three days last week despite the centre catering for patients registered at 40 doctors' surgeries, the Times reported.

"Really low patient uptake" at the John Scott vaccination centre in Hackney, east London has led the centre to reduce its opening hours, intensifying fears that Covid-19 will spread around BAME groups "like wildfire" when lockdown restrictions are relaxed.

Volunteers were informed last week that an alarming shortage of willing recipients for the jab would see the centre's hours cut, having previously been open from 10am to 8pm.

Comment: Similar sentiment was expressed by the people of France who overwhelmingly rejected the offer of experimental vaccines, and Russia with 70% saying they would reject any coronavirus vaccine. And, perhaps confirming their suspicions, both Switzerland and India have rejected vaccines over an ominous lack of safety data: For more on the inherent dangers in these vaccines, see: And check out SOTT radio's NewsReal #34: Covid By Numbers:

Wuhan Institute Of Virology collaborator, Prof Peter Daszak part of WHO Coronavirus investigation

Prof Peter Daszak covid lab leak
Peter Daszak, Director of EcoHealth Alliance
Prof Peter Daszak is part of the WHO Coronavirus Investigation team currently visiting the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China.

According to the NIH's own funding documents, Prof Peter Daszak was the ECOHEALTH ALLIANCE, INC. Project Leader for Collaborating with the Wuhan Institute Of Virology (WIV) into Bat Corona-Viruses Gain-Of-Function (GoF) research.

GoF research is virologist jargon for making genetic modification to non-human hosted viruses in the lab to make them more virulent and transmissible as a way of gauging how many mutations it takes to make a virus in another species able to jump to and infect humans. Some scientists argue that this GoF research is necessary to gauge how close the world is to the next pandemic. The project began in 1-JUN-2014 and funding began in 24-JUL-2019. All great in theory provided there are no accidental leaks from labs.

A slim majority of Americans think the Senate should convict former President Trump in his upcoming impeachment trial and bar him from being able to hold federal office in the future, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll has found.

The new poll, which was conducted Friday and Saturday and has a nationally representative probability sample of 508 respondents, found that 56 percent of Americans backed the both actions.

That support was starkly partisan, however. More than 9 in 10 Democrats backed both conviction and a ban on holding public office in the future, while 8 in 10 Republicans opposed both.

Expresses "regret" over sending parents opt-out form.

A Utah charter school has backtracked on its policy allowing parents to opt their children out of Black History Month curriculum.

Maria Montessori Academy Director Micah Hirokawa initially allowed parents to opt-out of the curriculum after he received requests from a few parents to do so. He later rescinded the opt-out following backlash.

Guy Ritchie used furlough scheme to pay pub staff despite being worth £100million

guy ritchie
Ritchie's firm recently posted losses of £457,000 and vowed to use as many Government-funded bailout schemes as possible.
Loaded Lock Stock director Guy Ritchie left taxpayers footing his bar bill by using furlough cash to pay staff, a Sun on Sunday probe reveals.

The pub owner, worth more than £100million, is one of several mega-rich stars and organisations using Government money to cover salaries — sparking fury from MPs.

Others include celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay, as well as steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, who is worth £6.78billion.

Comment: If they expect business owners to start paying staff that aren't working for a business that can't do business, they should expect those businesses to close and the staff to be unemployed. That is a completely unsustainable model and will end up tanking every business imaginable. There are, no doubt, businesses that abused the furlough scheme, so do an article about that. Shaming celebrities for trying to keep their employees paid without having to go into their personal funds is really low.
