Last week, the lower house of Russian parliament sent an appeal to Vladimir Putin asking him to recognise the Donbass breakaways as independent countries. However, in his talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz last Tuesday, the Russian president said he felt the potential of the Minsk Agreements has not yet been exhausted.

Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, the leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, have appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him to recognise their status as independent nations.

"In the interests of determining our international legal standing and, as a result, the possibility for full-fledged resistance to the military aggression of Ukrainian authorities, to prevent casualties among civilians, the destruction of infrastructure and housing stock, on behalf of the entire population of the Donetsk People's Republic, we ask you to recognise the DPR as an independent, democratic, legal and social state," Pushilin said in an address Monday.

Comment:

Putin recently pointed out that US vassal Ukraine is committing genocide against the peoples of the Donbass.

Republican congresswoman to introduce legislation to grant asylum to Canadian freedom protesters persecuted by Trudeau

Yvette Herrell republican congresswoman
Following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's crackdown on citizens in Ottawa protesting COVID-19 restrictions, Republican Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-NM) compared Trudeau's actions to "an authoritarian regime like Venezuela" and said she plans to introduce legislation to grant asylum to Canadian freedom protesters.

Comment: Imagine the humiliation and embarrassment if citizens of Canada, a country that prides itself in taking in asylum seekers from around the world, were forced to seek asylum elsewhere due to targeted persecution.

NYC Mayor plans crack down on 'cancerous sore' of rule-breakers on NYC subway

Mayor Eric Adams
© NYC Mayor's OfficeAdams said the subway system should only be for people to ride to their destinations.
Mayor Eric Adams announced a new plan Friday to clean up the city's subway system by cracking down on rule-breaking and preventing people from living on the trains and in the stations.

"No more smoking. No more doing drugs. No more sleeping. No more doing barbecues on the subway system. No more just doing whatever you want," he said.

"No. Those days are over. Swipe your MetroCard. Ride the system. Get off at your destination. That's what this administration is saying."

During a news conference at Manhattan's busy Fulton Street Transit Center, Adams said teams of outreach workers and NYPD cops would start canvassing the subways next week to identify mentally ill and homeless people who need to be removed and will work to get them the treatment and housing they need.

Comment: What are the chances that this new plan, like so many schemes recently rolled out, will actually end up making life for the average traveler more oppressive?

Mayor Eric Adams is all the more concerning considering his recent, bizarre proclamations that he wanted to push a 'plant-based centered life' on New Yorkers:

The CDC isn't publishing large portions of the Covid data it collects

Dr. David Kessler Dr. Rochelle Walensky
© Pool photo by Amr AlfikyDr. David Kessler, chief science officer of the White House Covid-19 response team, and Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at a House Select Subcommittee in 2021.
The agency has withheld critical data on boosters, hospitalizations and, until recently, wastewater analyses.

For more than a year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has collected data on hospitalizations for Covid-19 in the United States and broken it down by age, race and vaccination status. But it has not made most of the information public.

When the C.D.C. published the first significant data on the effectiveness of boosters in adults younger than 65 two weeks ago, it left out the numbers for a huge portion of that population: 18- to 49-year-olds, the group least likely to benefit from extra shots, because the first two doses already left them well-protected.

Comment: While they provide lots of excuses, the "we-don't-want-to-release-the-data-because-then-antivaxxers-will-see-it" is probably the most significant. Once the data is out there, it isn't cloaked in the preferred interpretation. What they really fear is unbiased interpretation, which to the CDC is the same as misinterpretation.

Biden and Putin agree "in principle" to hold summit

President Biden agreed "in principle" to hold a summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the White House confirmed on Sunday evening.

Driving the news: Biden said the meeting can only take place if Russia does not invade Ukraine, according to statements from the White House and French President Emmanuel Macron's office, which first announced the news.
  • The agreement was reached following two separate phone calls that Macron had with the U.S. and Russian leaders, according to a statement from the Élysée Palace, which said Putin had also "accepted the principle of such a summit."

Best of the Web: Why Canada will become a dictatorship under Trudeau

Justin Trudeau
© Reuters / Blair GableCanadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: The Great White North's virtue signaller-in-chief
Originally published in the Prince Arthur Herald

It's becoming clearer as the days of Trudeau's Liberals wear on: if elected Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau would turn Canada into a dictatorship.

This is the man who admitted he "admires China's basic dictatorship." It wasn't just a sarcastic comment - he seriously said that he admires the dictatorship because they can get things done quickly.

And it's becoming clearer that Trudeau not only admires the dictatorship -- he runs the Liberal Party like one too.

How else can one explain the police-enforced acclamation of Andrew Leslie as the Liberal candidate for Orleans? Even with hundreds of Liberals attending the meeting to show their support for another candidate (and former Trudeau leadership rival), it was clear from the beginning that Leslie was Trudeau's hand-picked favourite, and certainly wouldn't be stopped by pesky processes like "democracy."

Just the imagery of Trudeau's chosen candidate being selected with police intervention is scary. It shows that Trudeau doesn't just admire China's dictatorship -- he would practice one if he had the chance.

Comment: He sure called that one back in 2015. Look at where we are now:

Kamala Harris meets with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Munich and delivers cringeworthy remarks - Zelenskyy says someone is lying

Zelenskiy/Harris

The fiasco of U.S manipulation in Ukraine continues as the Biden administration dispatch Kamala Harris to play the role of a grown-up at the Munich conference. She failed.

You will see, in the first video below, how positively cringeworthy the effort was from Harris as she tries to present herself as a serious person within a high stakes geopolitical pantomime.

The baseline remains the same, and at the end of the meeting between Harris and Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president delivered remarks to call the bluff of Joe Biden (video also below). The words "someone is lying" lead off his speech.

President Zelenskyy emphasized the geopolitical farce when he said to the world if the United States, and as an extension NATO, is so certain that Russia is about to invade and destroy Ukraine sovereignty, then why are they waiting to trigger deterrent sanctions?

Underneath the true answer to that question is the crux of the issue. All of these events within Ukraine are being manipulated by the U.S. State Department and the U.S. intelligence apparatus, just as the events of 2014 in Ukraine were done before. First, watch the meeting between Harris and Zelenskyy:

Comment: The best that can be said: Harris brought nothing to the discussion.

Comment: The gem of this article: Zelensky addressed the Munich Security Conference in a powerful and articulate presentation.

Putin and Macron agree on Ukraine measures

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron have agreed to take urgent measures to halt escalation of conflict in eastern Ukraine, the Elysee Palace said in a statement.

During their Sunday phone conversation requested by Paris, the leaders agreed to resume work within the framework of the Normandy format, which consists of French, German, Russian, and Ukrainian leadership. It was also decided that a meeting of the trilateral contact group would be held "in the next few hours" in order to "obtain a commitment from all the stakeholders" to cease fire on the line of contact.

A meeting between French and Russian ministers of foreign affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Sergey Lavrov, would take place "in the coming days," with diplomatic work due to intensify in general, Paris said. Russia's Foreign Ministry later told RT that the call is planned for Monday, since Le Drian was not immediately available.

According to the French presidency, it would involve all the stakeholders, i.e. the Europeans, allies, Russians, and Ukrainians, and would be poised, subject to conditions met, to make possible "a meeting at the highest level to define a new order of peace and security in Europe."

Biden Supreme Court nomination adviser on BLM board of directors, despite WH distancing from 'defund' movement

A former Clinton adviser who was tapped this month to advise President Biden on the Supreme Court nomination process was sitting on the board of directors of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation as recently as Friday, according to the group's court filings.

The White House announced two weeks ago that Minyon Moore, who has been described by media outlets as an informal adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris, would join Biden's team to "mobilize a nationwide engagement effort focused on confirmation" of the nation's first Black woman to the Supreme Court. The White House said in a Feb. 2 statement:
"Moore currently leads Dewey Square Group's State and Local Affairs and Multicultural Strategies practices, where she helps clients build coalitions and engage on public policy goals. Moore previously served as President Clinton's Director of White House Political Affairs and Director the White House Office of Public Liaison, as well as Chief Operating Officer of the Democratic National Committee.

"Moore coauthored For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Politics in 2018. A Chicago native, she attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated from the Boston University Digital Filmmaking Program (DC)."
The White House's announcement declined to mention that Moore was a member of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation's board of directors, according to a filing submitted Friday to the California attorney general's office. A filing submitted Friday to the New Mexico attorney general's office also listed Moore as a board member.

MI5 chief: UK faces 'fight to keep our way of life' as Russia and China target MPs and toothless laws leave us 'one hand behind our backs'

Ken McCallum
© Roland HoskinsMI5 Director General Ken McCallum warns Russia and China are waging an all-encompassing 'contest' for international supremacy, seeking to interfere in Parliament!
The head of MI5 today lays bare the terrifying threat to Britain from hostile nations. Ken McCallum says 'we are in a struggle here' for our very way of life.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, he warns Russia and China are waging an all-encompassing 'contest' for international supremacy, seeking to interfere in Parliament, shape public thought and steal from businesses, universities and ordinary Britons. He says:
"It's important not to frame this as a Cold War II, but at the same time to be clear-eyed that we are in a struggle here. We do need to stand up for our values, for our system, for the benefits of the democratic way of life that we, and our allies, hold dear."
However, in his interview today, the Director General also warns that MI5 is being hamstrung by outdated laws which make it impossible to prosecute foreign spies. 'We are in effect operating with one hand behind our back on state threats,' he admits.

His warning comes against the backdrop of the crisis in Ukraine, with British and western officials apparently convinced that President Putin has made up his mind to invade in a move that threatens to destabilise Nato's eastern flank.

Mr McCallum also warns that Russia and China are both desperate to gain a foothold in the House of Commons by targeting MPs and their advisers.

Comment: Convinced of his own hype and fabrications, McCallum's mind refuses to address 'the enemy within'. Seems to be a Western standard to look 'there' not 'here'.
