Britain to send 6,000 missiles to aid Ukrainian military, says Boris Johnson

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said late on March 23 that his country would send 6,000 more missiles and about $33 million in financial aid to Ukraine's military, which is battling against a brutal invasion by Russian forces.

The missiles will consist of antitank and high-explosive weapons, Johnson said on the eve of a NATO and G7 summit in Brussels. He said in a statement:
"The United Kingdom will work with our allies to step up military and economic support to Ukraine, strengthening their defenses as they turn the tide in this fight. We cannot and will not stand by while Russia grinds Ukraine's towns and cities into dust."
According to his office, Johnson will press Western allies at the Brussels summits to "step up a gear" in their responses to Moscow's actions.

Comment: How many people would 6000 (more) missiles kill? How many would arbitration kill?

Moscow, Tehran developing SWIFT alternative - Iranian ambassador

Russia and Iran have been cooperating to connect their interbank messaging systems in order to bypass the SWIFT financial transactions network, Kazem Jalali, ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia, said on Thursday.

Both countries are facing severe Western sanctions, making settlements in trade through SWIFT difficult or impossible. "We are making efforts in this direction..." Jalali told reporters, as quoted by RIA Novosti news agency.

Last month, seven Russian banks were severed from SWIFT, effectively denying them access to international markets. The ban was part of the latest Western sanctions targeting Russia over its military operation in Ukraine.

Russia has its own payment mechanism called the Financial Message Transfer System (SPFS) that has similar functionality and allows the transmission of messages in the SWIFT format. It was created as an analogue to SWIFT that has been developed by the Bank of Russia since 2014.

Western elites are exploiting the Ukraine conflict to lower the standard of living

It's impossible to escape the constant undertone of the need to sacrifice for the greater global good or else be viewed as a selfish prick. And now, you risk even worse branding by the thought police if you don't fall in line with this new outlook: That of a Putin-enabler.

Since Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine, Western elites have been arguing that we all must collectively and senselessly concede to lowering our basic standards of living in order to hit back at President Vladimir Putin. In reality, all it does is allow them to continue to profit from our increasingly lowered expectations while all we get in return is the satisfaction of our own virtue signaling.

French Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire called on all the French to "make an effort" on their energy consumption to cope with the rising prices. People should "realize that we're entering into a new world" amid the conflict in Ukraine, in which we "must accelerate our independence vis-à-vis fossil fuel," he said in an interview with the news channel BFMTV earlier in March.

Meanwhile, France's ecological transition minister, Barbara Pompili, announced that public institutions would be asked to "reduce by one degree" their heating in response to the spike in energy prices since the onset of the conflict.

Experts warned for decades that NATO expansion would lead to war: Why did nobody listen to them?

Russia's military offensive in Ukraine has been underway for a month now. It has already led to a global economic crisis stemming from disruptions in supply chains and rising energy prices. And although the beginning of the hostilities came as a surprise to the whole world, the current state of affairs was not unpredictable - international relations experts have been warning about the risk of this escalation for the past 30 years.

Why didn't politicians in the West listen to their advice, instead of allowing war to break out in Europe, and fuel and food prices to skyrocket at home? RT explains.

19 years since the US invasion of Iraq, has the West learned any lessons?

Bombing of Iraq
© www.srilankaguardian.orgThe Western-style makeover of Iraq...was it necessary?
Almost two decades and an estimated million deaths later, the media is beating the drums of war again

The US-led invasion of Iraq in March, 2003 was a war now accepted to have been built on lies and is said to have killed as many as one million Iraqis. However, despite the horrific bloodshed inflicted on the Iraqi people, the Western public seem to have forgotten so many of the lessons that should have been taken away from the disaster that was the Iraq War.

In the build-up to the war on Iraq, Americans were told that eliminating Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, was necessary for world peace. This was due to his alleged possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) as well as his alleged links with Al-Qaeda, among a number of other claims about Hussein's genocidal ambitions. Britain's then-prime minister, Tony Blair, even likened Saddam Hussein to Adolf Hitler; this was at a time when anti-Middle Eastern sentiment was high and the 9/11 attacks were ripe in the minds of the Western public, who had been informed by then-US President George W. Bush that the 'war on terror' was akin to a 'crusade'.

Scholz warns Russian energy ban would mean European recession

Scholz

An immediate ban on Russian energy imports would trigger an economic recession in Germany and across Europe, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned Wednesday.

Speaking to the Bundestag, Scholz said Germany would end its energy dependence on Russia in due course but cutting all ties now would hit the German economy when it was unprepared.

"We will end this dependence [on Russian oil, coal and gas] as quickly as we can, but to do that from one day to the next would mean plunging our country and all of Europe into a recession," the chancellor said, warning that "hundreds of thousands of jobs would be at risk, entire industries would be on the brink."

Comment: Isn't it curious that until recently Germany saw Russia as trustworthy enough to bet much of its entire economy on, and with a view to deepening ties even further with Nord Stream II, and now, suddenly, Russia is the enemy. However not so much of an enemy that they'll stop receiving its gas and oil.

Comment: Despite the best efforts of the incompetent and pathological politicians polluting Europe, it seems that the establishment is determined to push ahead with its attack on Russia and it will be the West that suffers for it: Also check out SOTT radio's: NewsReal: Russia, China and the New World Order

Trucks packed with military hardware could this weekend be seen in big numbers on the roads that connect northern Sweden and Finland with neighbouring Norway. Several of them carried tanks and heavy armoured vehicles.

Sweden and Finland have participated in the bi-annual Cold Response for more than 15 years. But this year is different.

There is war on the European continent and the two neutral countries are increasingly at odds over how to address their national security.
