At least 10 US-based independent, left, and progressive YouTube channels were recently undermined by the social media giant, when their videos were demonetised for alleged breaches of its terms and conditions.

Graham Elwood is a stand-up comedian, satirist, and news and political commentator. He founded the popular YouTube show and podcast The Political Vigilante, during which he discusses news and current events. Elwood also co-hosts the show Government Secrets with fellow comedian Lee Camp.

The Los Angeles-based Elwood spoke to Sputnik and explained how an inexplicable decision by YouTube to remove his ability to make money via his social media channel resulted in around 60 percent of his income disappearing overnight.

Comment: The radical Left's howl for censorship of views they disagree with is finally coming around to bite them. The social media companies that play along will soon find themselves bereft of any substantive content.

The Biden administration is launching a review of the prison at Guantanamo Bay Military Base in Cuba with the goal of shuttering the facility, the White House said Friday.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Friday that the "goal and intention" of the new administration is to close the military prison by the time that President Biden leaves office. She said the National Security Council (NSC) is undertaking a review of the prison known as Gitmo:
"We are undertaking an NSC process ... to assess the current state of play that the Biden administration, we have inherited from the previous administration."
Psaki noted that a number of officials who will be part of such a process still need to be confirmed by the Senate.

Julian Assange: Biden administration appeals UK ruling against WikiLeaks co-founder's extradition

The US government has appealed against a UK judge's ruling blocking the extradition of WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange over the publication of thousands of classified documents, a US official has said.

A judge blocked the request to send Assange to the US in January, citing fears over his mental health and risk of suicide if he was made to stand trial in America.

In the ruling, district judge Vanessa Baraitser said it would be "oppressive" to extradite Mr Assange to the US due to his mental condition and gave the Biden administration until 12 February to appeal the decision.

"There was a filing today appealing it. Our intention is to continue to seek extradition of Julian Assange," Marc Raimondi, a Justice Department spokesperson, said on Friday.

Press freedom groups and supporters of Mr Assange have called on the Biden administration to drop its campaign for extradition, warning that prosecuting him could set a dangerous precedent.

UK foreign sec says Covid vaccine passports 'under consideration' just days after vaccine minister calls idea 'discriminatory'

UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab revealed that domestic Covid-19 vaccine passports - which would allow only vaccinated Brits to enter shops and other establishments - haven't been ruled out, despite their controversial nature.

After being asked by LBC radio host Tom Swarbrick whether a "domestic vaccine passport, where you have to show a bit of paper to go into a supermarket" will be implemented by the government, Raab replied, "Well, it's something that hasn't been ruled out and it's under consideration." The minister added, however, that it has to be "workable", and that a key factor of such a system being successful would be for the passports to show a reliable vaccine status.

Raab's claim that the government is still considering a vaccine passport is contrary to what Covid-19 Vaccine Deployment Minister Nadhim Zahawi said just last week, when he called the concept "discriminatory". Asked on Sky News whether the government was considering such a system, Zahawi claimed, "No, we are not."

Zahawi explained that the government is not considering domestic vaccine passports because, on top of being discriminatory, they do not stop a fully vaccinated individual from still spreading the virus. "I think the right thing to do is to make sure that people come forward and be vaccinated because they want to, rather than it being made in some way mandatory through a passport."

Hong Kong: Alarm over proposed law that could ban anyone from leaving

Barristers say proposal would give head of immigration 'unfettered power' to stop people leaving the city without any court process.

The influential Hong Kong Bar Association has spoken out against a government proposal that could give "apparently unfettered power" to the immigration director to stop anyone leaving the city.

The Hong Kong Bar Association (HKBA) expressed alarm on Friday in a paper submitted to the city's legislative council about the proposed law, which could bar any individual - whether resident or not - from boarding a carrier out of the financial hub.

HKBA said in the submission:
"It is particularly troubling that the grounds on which such an intrusive power may be exercised are not stated in the proposed legislation, and no explanation for why such a power is necessary, or even how it is intended to be used, is set out. If a new power to prevent Hong Kong residents and others from leaving the region is to be conferred ... It should be for the courts, not the director, to decide when it is necessary and proportionate to impose a travel ban."
Since the imposition of a new national security law in June last year, an increasing number of democracy activists and politicians have fled into exile, as China tightens its grip on the semi-autonomous city.

Black Magic

Math is racist! Requiring a correct answer is oppressive!

math racist politically correct black child math lesson
This is actually a claim that is being made often these days: the sciences in general, and math in particular, are racist. The latest comes from Oregon:
The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) recently encouraged teachers to register for training that encourages "ethnomathematics" and argues, among other things, that White supremacy manifests itself in the focus on finding the right answer.

An ODE newsletter sent last week advertises a Feb. 21 "Pathway to Math Equity Micro-Course," which is designed for middle school teachers to make use of a toolkit for "dismantling racism in mathematics."
How can mathematics possibly be racist?

Comment: Perhaps the real reason is bad instruction. It's almost unfair to blame the teachers entirely, having been marinated in critical race theory all their higher educational lives, to the point where they can no longer think properly.

Fox News reports:
The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) recently encouraged teachers to register for training that encourages "ethnomathematics" and argues, among other things, that White supremacy manifests itself in the focus on finding the right answer.

Part of the toolkit includes a list of ways "white supremacy culture" allegedly "infiltrates math classrooms." Those include "the focus is on getting the 'right' answer," students being "required to 'show their work,'" and other alleged manifestations.

"The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false, and teaching it is even much less so," the document for the "Equitable Math" toolkit reads. "Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity as well as fear of open conflict."

An associated "Dismantling Racism" workbook, linked within the toolkit, similarly identifies "objectivity" -- described as "the belief that there is such a thing as being objective or 'neutral'" -- as a characteristic of White supremacy.

Instead of focusing on one right answer, the toolkit encourages teachers to "come up with at least two answers that might solve this problem."

It adds: "Challenge standardized test questions by getting the 'right' answer, but justify other answers by unpacking the assumptions that are made in the problem."

It also encourages teachers to "center ethnomathematics," which includes a variety of guidelines. One of them instructs educators to "identify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views."

"The framework for deconstructing racism in mathematics offers essential characteristics of antiracist math educators and critical approaches to dismantling white supremacy in math classrooms by visualizing the toxic characteristics of white supremacy culture," the toolkit reads before linking to both the workbook and a paper on "white supremacy culture."

The toolkit adds that "building on the framework, teachers engage with critical praxis in order to shift their instructional beliefs and practices toward antiracist math education. By centering antiracism, we model how to be antiracist math educators with accountability."

In one section of the "Dismantling Racism" workbook, the argument is made that "only white people can be racist in our society, because only white people as a group have that power." Another section seems to justify anti-cop sentiments.

"In some cases, the prejudices of oppressed people ('you can't trust the police') are necessary for survival," it reads.

US Navy goes woke: Forces sailors to commit to 'all lived experiences and intersectional identities'

The stated mission of the formation of the task force was "to address the issues of racism, sexism and other destructive biases and their impact on naval readiness."

In June 2020, the Navy created Task Force Navy One, which was "established to combat discrimination in the Navy." The recently released findings of the task force include the TF1N Pledge, in which members of the task force take a pledge to inclusivity and self-reflection.

The pledge reads:
"As a key member of Task Force One Navy I will invest the time, attention and empathy required to analyze and evaluate Navywide issues related to racism, sexism, ableism and other structural and interpersonal biases.

"I pledge to be actively inclusive in the public and private spheres where I live and work, and proactively encourage others to do the same.

"I pledge to advocate for and acknowledge all lived experiences and intersectional identities of every Sailor in the Navy.

"I pledge to engage in ongoing self-reflection, education and knowledge sharing to better myself and my communities.

"I pledge to be an example in establishing healthy, inclusive and team-oriented environments.

"I pledge to constructively share all experiences and information gained from activities above to inform the development of Navywide reforms."

Comment: The madness continues. While the conclusions of the report sound benign (who wouldn't want to promote 'Respect for self, for service and our fellow shipmates') the woke mentality lurking behind those pronouncements will twist them into the most absurd outcomes. Give it time.

27 deaths following coronavirus vaccinations reported in India

The health ministry has said over 84,800 vaccinations against the coronavirus were carried out on Saturday and a total of three people, who had received vaccinations in the recent past, died in the past 24 hours. Deaths reported so far in cases where vaccination has been conducted to date is 27, it said.

The health ministry also maintained that no case of serious or adverse event following the immunization is related to the vaccination. "No case of serious or severe Adverse event following immunization (AEFI) or death has been attributable to vaccination till date," the health ministry said.

Comment: 'No severe adverse events'? Death seems to be pretty severe. And it's not just in India that deaths have been reported following these experimental vaccines: At least twenty-three people die in Norway within days of receiving Pfizer coronavirus vaccine

The vaccination drive against the coronavirus picked up the pace on Saturday as many beneficiaries who had received their first shots on day one of the exercises four weeks ago turned up to get their second dose. The second dose of the coronavirus vaccine is being given after a gap of 28 days.

Comment: Note that India rejected the Pfizer vaccine because of a lack of safety data.

As fears rise over San Francisco-area attacks on elderly Asians by black assailants, leftists find the real culprit: white people

The Lunar New Year passed in the San Francisco Bay area with fears rising over a series of unprovoked attacks on elderly Asians by black men, but leftists may have found some solace by finding the real perpetrators: white people.

As Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Viet Thanh Nguyen explained, Asians shouldn't respond to the horrific attacks with "knee-jerk" calls for more policing but must instead recognize the violence as "part of a pattern of white supremacy." Even if the assailants are "people of color," he added, "the solution is not to fall back on racist assumptions of our own but to hold the system of white supremacy responsible for dividing us."

Despite his literary talents, Nguyen apparently missed the irony in the notion of avoiding "racist assumptions" by blaming people of a certain skin color for the attacks - in this case, people of a different skin color than those involved in the incidents - but he wasn't alone in identifying whites as the problem.

Manju Kulkarni, executive director of the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council, told NPR that "xenophobic policies and racist rhetoric" pushed by former president Donald Trump was behind the violence. Oakland City Council President Nikki Fortunato Bas told local Fox TV affiliate KTVU that crimes against Asians and "anti-blackness" are both on the rise "because we live in a system rooted in white supremacy."

Comment: We live in a neoracist clown world where people actually believe that white supremacy is the root of all problems, that it exists everywhere, that everyone be default is a white supremacist until they are initiated into the ranks of the Woke (and even then must pay their dues by constantly their own white supremacy). If you disagree, you are a white supremacist. If you're black and disagree, you're suffering from multiracial whiteness. If you're Asian, well, you're just white. The inmates have taken over the asylum.

White prof resigns after being accused of pretending to be immigrant 'woman of color' online and making racist remarks

A white, male professor at the University of New Hampshire has resigned after being accused of pretending to be a female immigrant of color and operating an anonymous Twitter account that was used to make racist and sexist comments, the university announced.

The university has not named the professor, but confirmed that a faculty member resigned Friday after a four-month investigation.

"While we are limited in what we can say in order to protect the privacy of all involved, we can share that the faculty member chose to resign when the university concluded that the conduct exhibited was not consistent with the university's values and our expectation that every faculty member contribute to a professional academic environment free of intimidation and harassment," the university's president James Dean Jr. said in a statement.
