CNN journos doing damage control after the network's Natasha Bertrand panicked and deleted tweets containing harsh comments reportedly made by President Biden to Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky - namely that a Russian invasion was "imminent," that the Capital city of Kyiv could be "sacked," and to "prepare for impact."

Now - none of that apparently happened according to CNN's Jim Sciutto, the White House, and apparently Ukraine itself. Of note, CNN claims their source was a "senior Ukrainian official."

Senators say they were denied full access to federal prison

Two U.S. senators said Wednesday that they were denied access to parts of a federal prison in Connecticut while trying to examine conditions there in response to correctional officers' complaints about a staffing shortage and lack of coronavirus precautions.

Concerns about the spread of COVID-19 itself were behind the denial, the federal Bureau of Prisons said.

Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, both Connecticut Democrats, visited the Danbury Federal Correctional Institution with labor union leaders and two state lawmakers. Murphy said they were barred from seeing the main women's facility but were able to see a men's unit after a "fight" to gain access.

Murphy said during a news conference after the visit:
"There was clearly a decision made to try to stop both of us from seeing some of the conditions at this prison. This facility, even during COVID, should be open for inspection by policymakers. We need to see it during good times, but we also need to see it during bad times. And if the Bureau of Prisons has decided that U.S. lawmakers are not going to be able to see what is really happening inside these prisons during a crisis, that's a problem."

Justice Dept., 34 states and Microsoft accuse Apple of stifling competition

The Justice Department, Microsoft and a bipartisan group of attorneys general from 34 states and the District of Columbia all accused Apple of stifling competition through its app store on Thursday and threw their weight behind a legal challenge to the company.

The three groups filed third-party briefs with a federal court that is considering an appeal from Fortnite maker Epic Games in its ongoing legal fight against Apple.

Epic and other critics say that the mandatory 15% to 30% commissions Apple charges developers that distribute apps through its store are evidence the company holds an illegal monopoly.

NYC Mayor Adams resurrects NYPD plainclothes unit as part of new anti-crime plan

Mayor Adams announced Monday that he's bringing back the NYPD's controversial contingents of plainclothes cops as part of a wide-ranging plan to crack down on gun violence in the wake of a rash of deadly shootings across the city.

The plainclothes units — which were disbanded by former Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration in 2020 amid a national reckoning over police brutality — will be deployed to 30 precincts where 80% of the city's violent crimes are reported, Adams said at City Hall.

About 400 cops are expected to join the new units, dubbed "Neighborhood Safety Teams." They will begin hitting the streets over the next three weeks "with a focus on gun violence," according to Adams.

"We will have boots on the ground on every block," said Adams, who declared gun violence "a public health crisis" and "the number one threat in our city."

Best of the Web: Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson endorse Canadian 'Freedom Convoy'

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, podcast host Joe Rogan, and psychology professor Jordan Peterson were among those who recently endorsed the "Freedom Convoy" — a group of Canadian truckers organizing against the nation's COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

For the Canadian trucking industry, the policy forces unvaccinated drivers to observe a two-week quarantine and COVID-19 test before crossing into Canada from the United States.

As news of the protest made international headlines, Musk expressed approval in a three-word tweet: "Canadian truckers rule.

Meanwhile, Rogan highlighted the convoy and noted that Canada is "in revolt."

SOTT Focus: Truckers Convoy is The Freedom Protest Canada Needs

canada canadian truck trucker convoy freedom
The world is watching Canada right now. A movement is taking place, which may not only affect the current lockdown measures but our supply of food and goods. Thousands of Canadian Truckers are driving to Ottawa, the Capital of Canada. Their goal is to protest a new policy mandating all Truckers must be vaccinated.

The plan is straightforward. Gridlock the entire Capitol, leaving some room for business and emergency vehicles. The convoy plans to gridlock Ottawa until the mandates are lifted.

Comment: And they're doing this during one of the coldest winters in Canada's history, with temperatures to go as low as -30C in the capital this weekend.

Go Canada, go!!!

UPDATE: They've arrived.

Why is the narrative changing? And in lockstep

punch 'em in the neck
Whilst the narrative change is welcome, it all seems to be happening at the same time, in multiple countries and all whilst Covid cases are hitting new highs. Now I know, cases don't mean anything unless they convert to hospitalisations and deaths but still, even a few weeks ago, if cases were rising, the media and politicians would be going into fear overload.

Comment: And remember that 'hospitalizations and deaths' don't mean anything unless they parsed for the cause being with Covid or from Covid. This manipulation is still with us.

Let's take a look at a few example countries and how the same narrative change has been happening over and over again. I will look at the countries in order of most vaccinated.

A speech therapist says that mask wearing during the pandemic has caused a 364% increase in patient referrals of babies and toddlers.

Jaclyn Theek told WPBF News that before the pandemic, only 5 per cent of patients were babies and toddlers, but this has soared to 20 per cent.

Parents are describing their children's speech problems as "COVID delayed," with face coverings the primary cause of their speaking skills being seriously impaired.

Actress Evangeline Lilly comes out against vaccine mandates: 'Nobody should ever be forced to inject their body'

Marvel actress Evangeline Lilly issued an Instagram post Thursday emphasizing her stand against COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

Lilly, who voiced her support for freedom at the start of the pandemic, said she attended a rally in Washington, D.C. over the weekend "to support bodily sovereignty."

The native Canadian wrote in the post that she stands with Canadian truckers protesting vaccine mandates and "believes nobody should ever be forced to inject their body."

Comment: You've got to feel for these Hollywood types who are actually, at least somewhat, awake to the manipulations and trying to skate the line between standing up for freedoms and avoiding summary execution cancellation. Its the age old fame dilemma of deciding between living with integrity or selling your soul. But at the end of the day, what good is a career if its sole purpose is to feed the propaganda machine? Many would say it can't be done, but Godspeed to anyone trying to walk the middle path.
