The real lunatic fringe: Ottawa teacher suggests 'taking up arms' against Freedom Convoy truckers

Ottawa high school arts teacher Matt Muirhead said on Saturday that there was a point where things should turn violent against the truckers and that he was just about there.

"I think there is a point in time where you take up arms," said Muirhead in a Twitter space on Saturday. "And I know that sounds aggressive maybe, but I want to know what I can do next."

Muirhead works as a high school civics, drama and world religions teacher with the Ottawa Catholic School Board

Comment: What possessed this guy to make such an inflammatory statement? Where is such a radicalization coming from? It would be interesting to look into Muirhead's background.

Windsor-Detroit border crossing blockaded by trucks protesting restrictions

Ambassador bridge
© Scanner/ReutersTruckers stand in line as they block the Ambassador Bridge entrance on the I-75 and I-96 highways in Detroit, Michigan, U.S., February 7, 2022, Macomb County.
I have to wonder what nasty words Justin Trudeau will use to describe the protesters who targeted the Ambassador Bridge. The busiest commercial roadway between Canada and the United States saw slowdowns for traffic on Monday afternoon, followed by a complete shut down, and as of now only U.S.-bound traffic is getting through.

Will Trudeau dismiss these people as racists like he does everyone else who disagrees with him? That's what Trudeau has done in the past with several people or groups opposed to him and it seems to be the only response he has to the protests in Ottawa.

Comment: Truckers? or Trudeau? Who is holding Canada hostage?
Speaking to the Detroit Free Press, Gregg Ward, the president of Detroit-Windsor Truck Ferry said that the bridge closing is unprecedented and that the last time the bridge closed for a protest was in 1990.
"They usually get (their goods) just on time. It all depends on how much inventory they had, and if they anticipated this. I know there was an expected slowdown, I would bet most people didn't think there would be a complete closure."
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the blockade prompted the shutdown of the bridge, and motorists are instructed to use the tunnel or use the Blue Water Bridge that connects Port Huron to Sarnia, Ontario.

IRS to drop facial recognition verification service

The Treasury Department is moving away from the controversial verification software ID.me amid concern over the company's use of facial recognition technology.

The IRS had announced last year that it would start requiring people who file taxes online to register with ID.me, which would verify the identity of filers with a video selfie. The program was supposed to be rolled out this summer for all IRS services, including making online payments and accessing tax credits.

Critics have been sounding the alarm over ID.me's use, warning that giving a private company access to that much biometric information is inherently risky and pointing out that many facial recognition systems have deep racial and gender biases.

The latter concern has been amplified since CEO Blake Hall admitted the company uses technology that matches faces against a larger database rather than just other images of the same face.

Comment: For how long? And will they really? Would the government give this up without something else in its place? Just asking.

The real foreign interference in our elections is happening at your local DMV

voter form

Foreigners are voting in our elections. It isn't just in the sanctuary city of New York, where 800,000 foreigners just got the power to vote in municipal elections.

Foreigners voting occurs all over the country. Over the past few years, the Public Interest Legal Foundation, of which I am president, has uncovered government records showing foreigners voting in Pennsylvania, Texas, New Jersey, and California.

Voter fraud deniers do not want to talk about the fact that foreigners are registering and voting in U.S. elections. They forget that the foreigners voting in American elections are sometimes victims of third-party voter registration drives that jeopardize their immigration status. These voter registration drives sign anyone up without regard to eligibility.

States are also victimizing these foreigners. Pennsylvania let aliens register to vote for more than two decades on a broken department of motor vehicles registration process.

Unwitting aliens often don't know they aren't allowed to register and vote. Meanwhile, committing an election crime such as illegal voting subjects them to deportation. The only winner is the political party that reliably gets their votes. Just this week, we uncovered more evidence of foreigners voting in our elections, this time in the swing state of North Carolina.

Meghan McCain: The continued forced masking of children is now child abuse and the hypocritical lawmakers deserve to rot in the waste bins of political history

mask kids school
© TwitterGeorgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (above) posted a photo of herself sitting in an elementary school classroom without a mask surrounded by masked children.
Future generations will look back on the masking of children with abject horror.

It will be a source of shame; a symbol of the anti-science psychosis that has swept so much of our country, encouraged by our decadent elites, who care only about their own comfort and 'safety' as opposed to what is best for innocent children and their mental and emotional development.

Shame on all of us for letting it go this far. Shame on anyone who is not screaming at the top of their lungs for this madness to end. We are not in March 2020. We are fast approaching March of 2022. Covid-19 is not the incredibly deadly Ebola virus. New studies are coming out every day with alarming findings.

Comment: Even the looney fringe is coming around! It's great to hear another mainstream voice, even if it is Meghan McCain, speaking up for children everywhere. UNMASK THE KIDS! See also:

Top Virginia court rejects parents' challenge to Youngkin parental choice school mask order

children masks school
The Supreme Court of Virginia has voted to reject a parent challenge to Gov. Glenn Youngkin's (R) school mask order calling for parents to be able to choose whether their child wears a mask at school.

In a three-page letter on Monday, the judges said that their ruling did not offer an "opinion on the legality" of the executive order issues by Youngkin but that it was difficult to provide the relief requested by the plaintiffs.

"By this dismissal, we offer no opinion on the legality of EO 2 or any other issue pertaining to petitioners' claims," the court wrote in a footnote.

Truckers: Trudeau and liberal media are falsely demonizing them, reporter in their midst can only conclude these peaceful protestors are 100% correct about that

trucker convoy guy meister
Freedom Convoy protestor Guy Meister (pictured) of Nova Scotia, has accused the Canadian government of intimidating truckers and painting them in a bad light in a bid to end their protest.
Angry truckers have lashed out at Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau after members of their convoy protest were arrested and charged with hate crimes during another weekend of unrest in the country's capital city.

They have also strongly denied that they have ties to ultra-right-wing groups, insisting they are just 'ordinary truckers.'

'It's intimidation, nothing else,' Freedom Convoy protestor Guy Meister told DailyMail.com on Monday. 'We are just a bunch of hard working truck drivers who are out here protesting the government's covid mandates.

Comment: Take all of the above with a grain of salt. Although the mouthful of a title of the article ("Freedom Convoy truckers say Trudeau and North America's liberal media are falsely demonizing them as ultra-right-wing crazies. And after spending a week in their midst, the Mail's reporter can only conclude these peaceful, good-natured protestors are 100% correct about that - if nothing else") suggests a positive perspective on the protest, it's liberally sprinkled with the corporate media spin.

Jordan Peterson knows psychology, including 'global warming' groupthink

Five days before the recent snowstorm rocked the Mid-Atlantic region, the ECMWF weather model had forecast more than 30 inches for portions of Delaware, coastal Maryland, and southern New Jersey. The model had overestimated snowfall by up to a factor of three.

My criticism of the model will likely not anger many in the political arena. Why not? Because, as we are often told, weather is not climate. Weather is very difficult to forecast because it is highly variable, and weather models can and often do make bad forecasts - particularly for long-range predictions - because model errors grow over time. By contrast, apparently, climate is very easy to forecast, and thus the dire prognostications made by climate models cannot be questioned. (Never mind those dates activists often set for climate "tipping points" pass without event.)

Jordan Peterson has just been schooled on this difference. As the Guardian noted, Peterson told Joe Rogan that "the climate was too complex to be modelled accurately." So, leading climate scientists lined up to ridicule and criticize Peterson, who, it was dutifully noted, is not a climate scientist but a "controversial Canadian psychologist."

UK "reforming" human rights law...compulsory vaccines on the horizon?

justice statue
The UK government is planning to re-work its human rights law to put an increased emphasis on "personal responsibility" and "duties to the wider society", as well as preventing people "abusing" their rights.

Sounds pretty awful, doesn't it? But let's go back to the beginning.

In December 2020 the UK government announced they would be looking into Human Rights reform in the near future.

These announcements became more concrete a year later on December 14th 2021, when the government began a "consultation" on restructuring the Human Rights Act.

The plan is to replace current rights legislation with a so-called "UK Bill of Rights", a policy dating from the Cameron administration. The new "bill of rights" would update and replace the Human Rights Act.

As a brief summary of UK human rights law:

Some rights are enshrined in common law from the days of Magna Carta, but the vast majority of the time when we talk about "human rights" in the UK we're referring to the Human Rights Act 1998.

Alberta ditches proof-of-vaccine program at midnight, masking for students Monday

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney
© THE CANADIAN PRESS/Jeff McIntosh
Alberta's highly-controversial proof-of-vaccination system expires as the clock strikes midnight Wednesday, Premier Jason Kenney announced Tuesday amid accusations that he was playing politics with public health measures.

Rules that require students to wear masks in Alberta schools will end on Monday, and children under 12 won't have to wear masks anywhere starting then.

Kenney said his "careful and prudent" plan, which was approved by Alberta's COVID cabinet committee, lays out a path to "move on from a widespread pandemic response, to get our lives back to normal."

Restrictions have done the job of getting more people vaccinated, but Kenney said those increases have now stopped.
