'Faith in Israel's strength has been shaken': RT speaks with Hezbollah about Gaza war

get ready
'On your mark, get ready...'
The conflict will lead to the fall of US tyranny and the advent of a multipolar world, the group believes...

Lebanon has not officially entered into war with Israel, but the Israeli army is constantly shelling the country's southern regions where Hezbollah fighters are entrenched. Today, this Shia movement is the most powerful political and military force in Lebanon, which its enemies - both within the country and outside - have to reckon with.

The party's armed group has about 100,000 fighters, a giant missile arsenal, and a large variety of weapons and military equipment. Over the years, this influential organization has become an integral part of Lebanese politics and economy. It is also Iran's main ally which spreads the ideas of the Islamic Republic in the region and defends common values - particularly those concerning Jerusalem. Hezbollah considers the liberation of Jerusalem a sacred goal, and the members of the 'Party of God' perceive the events in Palestine in the same way.

Our meeting with Hezbollah spokesman Hajj Mohammad Afif has become a tradition. Just like last year, and the year before that, and three years ago, we met at his office in the south of Beirut. Afif's office looks the same, and so does the man - as always, he is wearing a shirt and sweater with a blazer over them. At least in some aspects, life in Lebanon remains stable.

West secretly urging Russia-Ukraine talks - Lavrov

The top diplomat says Moscow has "never rejected" peace negotiations out of hand...

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that multiple Western leaders had approached him about potential negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine, saying the Kremlin is ready for dialogue so long as it respects Moscow's core interests.

Speaking alongside his Belarusian counterpart, Sergey Aleinik, on Friday, Lavrov told reporters that some Western powers were increasingly interested in a negotiated settlement, though declined to single out any country by name:
"I do not want to and I have no right to name names, but a number of high-level, well-known leaders of Western countries, including one specific Western leader, a very well-known one, several times... at least via three different channels of communication, sent signals as to why don't we meet and talk about what to do with Ukraine and with European security.

"Russia is always ready to discuss these issues seriously. We have never rejected the negotiations and this question should not be addressed to us."
He suggested that Kiev has been the unwilling party:
"We have never rejected the negotiations and this question should not be addressed to us."
However, the foreign minister stressed that any talks would have to account for "Russia's legitimate interests" and must mean "putting an end to attempts to build [one's] own security at the expense of others," referring to Ukraine's efforts to join the NATO bloc.

The West: Delusional disorder

Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, a high-ranking former US military officer who served in those two great examples of American military prowess — Iraq and Afghanistan — spoke a couple of days ago on how Russia was losing the war, suffering huge numbers of casualties, committing untrained troops into the "meat grinder" in places like Adeeveka and trying to convince the world that its resources were not lacking — just to mention a few things that show that the good general gets his intelligence briefings from CNN.

Fortunately for the US military, Gen. Hodges is retired: he is clearly a moron. But it makes you wonder. But then we all know that shit floats to the top. That's true in the corporate world also.

Hodges parrots American propaganda which parrots Ukrainian propaganda.

That comment about Russian casualties is a good example. It has been debunked enough times it barely bears mentioning since the Russians have clearly suffered minimal casualties - certainly compared to the Ukrainians. Among the reasons they are taking their time with that Adeevaka — is there commitment to minimizing casualties while inflicting maximum pain on the Ukrainians, who apparently don't care how many other soldiers die.

Timofey Bordachev: EU leaders are using Ukraine, but not in the way you might think

June 16, 2022 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
© Jesco Denzel/Getty ImagesGerman Chancellor Olaf Scholz (2nd L) sits at the table with Mario Draghi (L), Italy's Prime Minister, Volodymyr Selensky, Ukrainian President, (C) Emmanuel Macron, France's President, (2nd R) and Klaus Iohannis, Romania's President (R) on June 16, 2022 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
This week's EU summit saw the bloc's leaders play a clever political game by maneuvering into advantageous positions

If for President Vladimir Zelensky Ukraine's failures in Washington represent a serious disappointment after all the promises he was made earlier, for the EU the slowdown in money represents an opportunity to negotiate with the US.

The EU, both internally and externally, is in such a state currently that the start of negotiations on the accession of Ukraine or Moldova cannot cause serious damage. However, given the weak hand that the bloc has at its disposal, even such a flimsy agreement can be considered a small foreign policy success by its leaders.

The EU summit's decision doesn't change anything. It was all about relations with the main actors on the international stage - the US, Russia, and China - and had nothing to do with the bloc's own development for the benefit of its citizens. Indeed, this has long since ceased to be the goal of European politicians, who do not particularly link their personal prospects to the future of the states they lead.

Comment:
EU weakness with respect to the US is hardly a new concept, below are a few indications:
"There is no such thing as Europe. Don't think too much about it. America exists. Europe is a mule in America's convoy. It has no special features."
Will the EU show more independence from the US with respect to Gaza, compared to what they have done so far regarding Ukraine, considering:
Biden has damned the United States over Israel's Gaza genocide
The U.S. is complicit with Israel in the genocide in Gaza

If the EU countries wanted to fit even better into the US vassal role, what steps should the countries take?
If on the other hand, they wanted more independence, how might they go about that?

Ukraine missed chance for good deal - Moscow

Kiev has "squandered" its opportunity to negotiate a favorable peace agreement, a top Russian diplomat says

Ukrainian leaders have blown their chance to find a favorable exit from the country's conflict with Moscow, so any agreement to end the fighting will be inferior to the deal from which President Vladimir Zelensky walked away in March 2022, a top Russian diplomat has claimed.

"Ze's Ukraine has squandered its chances for such a favorable off-ramp," Russia's deputy UN ambassador, Dmitry Polyanskiy, said on Saturday in an X (formerly Twitter) post. "Any possible deal now will be reflecting its capitulation."

The perspective of the Turkish minister can answer the question in the initial comment, regarding whether the Western powers missed a chance for a good deal by dissuading Kiev from a peace agreement in 2022. They did not, since Europe is inconsequential and the US made money. Of course, if we do not agree with the Turkish minister, or the process of reasoning, there could be other answers.

Republican attorney general exposes DOJ funding to Soros-backed group that trains left-wing prosecutors

AG says Vera Institute conducts prosecutor training seminars that are 'counter-productive to public safety'

A Republican state attorney general is asking members of Congress to probe a Justice Department grant that he says benefits a "radically progressive" George Soros-linked group responsible for training prosecutors in ways to implement a soft-on-crime approach to their work.

Missouri's Attorney General Andrew Bailey sent letters to congress Wednesday to urge both Republican and Democrat lawmakers "to further investigate and eliminate funding for programs that are counter-productive to public safety" and that "aid or encourage prosecutors to abuse discretion by refusing to bring criminals to justice."

Bailey's letters follow what he describes as a "galvanizing moment" in Missouri when disgraced St. Louis circuit attorney Kim Gardner - "a progressive soft-on-crime prosecutor" - let a repeat criminal out on bail who then drove his speeding car into a young girl, leaving her with injures that required the amputation of both of her legs.

The approach of World War III - just as planned

If massive depopulation is the end goal, then continued support for Ukraine is the way to go

Military conflicts are not the result of random chance. Deliberate planning is involved.

It is instructive to look at what happened to Ukraine in 2014, around the coup supported by the US government and its Western allies. With the victory of Viktor Yanukovich in the presidential elections of 2010, the Rada (Ukrainian parliament) voted to drop NATO membership aspirations from the national security strategy. Perhaps precisely because of this, Yanukovich was unconstitutionally ousted.

Seeing the chaos of the Maidan and fearing the consequences, Moscow moved to reincorporate Crimea in March 2014, in order to both secure its military assets there and protect the ethnic Russian population from Kiev's wrath. A referendum was held, and locals voted overwhelmingly to join the Russian Federation.

More Ukrainians willing to trade land for peace - poll

A small but growing minority believe Kiev should abandon its territorial goals

The share of Ukrainians willing to make territorial concessions to Russia in exchange for a peace deal has almost doubled since early summer, according to a new survey. However, a significant majority still believe that Ukraine can beat Russia on the battlefield with more Western weapons.

The poll, carried out by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology and released on Thursday, found that 19% of respondents would favor such a deal, up from 10% in May; 74% insisted that "under no circumstances should Ukraine give up any of its territories," while 7% were unsure.

Comment: There is a lot of commentary to this rather short article. It is an effort to place the survey and its results in the context of the ongoing conflict and its future prospects.

Comment: From a Russian perspective, there was in TASS:
"16 DEC, 21:31 Any potential peace deal to reflect Ukraine's capitulation — Russia's UN mission

"As for the peace agreement, it is already well-known that it was initialed by negotiators of Ze [Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky], and its copy was shown by [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin. And this story, as well as the direct involvement of the UK and the US in persuading Ze to reject [the agreement], has been corroborated by numerous witnesses. However, you have nothing to worry about, as Ze's Ukraine has blown its chances for such a favorable outcome, and therefore any possible deal will now reflect its capitulation," the Russian diplomat wrote on his Twitter page (formerly known as Twitter).
Considering two rather different intentions, there are likely to be twists and turns, and of course more polls and surveys from Ukraine showing the willingness for peace, or is it now for continued fighting or capitulation?

'Fragile': Ukraine commander criticizes France's howitzer as incapable of dealing with combat conditions

caesar howitzer
The French self-propelled howitzers CAESAR, transferred by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the French Ministry of Defense, are not suitable for combat operations. This was stated by the commander of one of the Ukrainian brigades, Yan Yatsychyn.

The Ukrainian brigade commander gave an interview to the French publication Le Monde, in which he criticized the French self-propelled gun Caesar because of its inability to conduct intensive combat operations. According to Yatsychin, the installation is highly accurate and fast-firing, but very fragile, it requires constant care, and in combat conditions it is very difficult to provide this. His brigade is armed with French howitzers, but they are rarely used.

Your CAESAR self-propelled gun fires very quickly and with high accuracy. But I use it very rarely, because it is too fragile and poorly adapted to the realities of war - said the brigade commander.
