"I am convinced that a large part of the European Union is deliberately living the war in Ukraine as a big lie. In fact, Ukraine is only being used for geopolitical purposes to weaken Russia economically and internationally, and it serves as a golden calf for the arms companies of the merchants of death. In the name of these geopolitical goals, I fear that the West will go to war with Russia to the last Ukrainian soldier. And we are not far from that goal. Of course, no one will openly admit to these immoral goals."

Comment: Some earlier, pertinent, comments from PM Fico:

SLOVAKIAN PM REFUSES TO SUPPORT KIEV and has balls to state position right next to NATO Chief Stolty who's desperately trying to hold his rage in while giving Fico death stare (00:03).

I openly declared that we do not believe in a military solution in Ukraine. We really miss any peace initiative - Slovakian leader (00:10). Fico admits that NATO supporting Kiev regime will only lead to 100s of thousands more sacrificed to Washington-led war machine (00:36).

Officials in Ukraine seem to agree with PM Fico:

South Africans fighting for Israel's Gaza genocide could face prosecution at home - President Ramaphosa

The South African government has warned its citizens who are fighting for Israel in the besieged Gaza Strip could face prosecution at home, as President Cyril Ramaphosa once again denounced the Israeli aggression as "genocide."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pretoria said it was "gravely concerned" by reports that some South African nationals had joined the Israeli military to fight in Gaza or are considering doing so.

"Such action can potentially contribute to the violation of international law and the commission of further international crimes, thus making them liable for prosecution in South Africa," the ministry said.

Comment: The West got away with sending stooges and mercenaries to the Kiev-juntas military in their fight against Russia's capable military, but it seems the multipolar world will not tolerate the same for Israel's genocide of Palestinians:

Meanwhile some Ukrainian mercenaries have popped up working for the IDF in Gaza:

Russia to increase troop number to 1.5 million in response 'external threats' - Shoigu

shoigu putin
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that due to the alleged increase in external threats to the country, the number of military personnel is planned to be increased to 1.5 million
He said this on December 19 at a meeting of the department's board, Fontanka reports.

Among the reasons for the increase in the number of Russian troops, Shoigu cited Finland's accession to NATO and Sweden's preparations for membership in the Alliance.

"All plans for manning the army and navy have been fully implemented, bringing their number to 1 million 150 thousand servicemen. Two combined arms armies and a mixed aviation corps have been formed and manned... On December 1, the implementation of the decree to build up the forces to 1 million 320 thousand people began. In connection with Finland's accession and Sweden's upcoming accession to NATO, we are forming the Leningrad and Moscow military districts. In accordance with external threats, the number of armed forces will be further increased to 1.5 million servicemen," the Russian Defense Minister said.

Comment: Meanwhile Western militaries are struggling to hire able bodied and minded troops just to maintain the numbers that they already have. The Kiev-junta and Israel are having to rely on stooges and pathological types from other nations.

Will Israel's genocide in Gaza lead to another round of war in Yemen?

In the current tense circumstances and given the enormous stakes involved, the best that can happen is for truly neutral countries to decisively mediate between those with different views, China and India are the most qualified countries to play this role.

The United States (US) announced Operation Prosperity Guardian during Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin's latest trip to West Asia, which will bring together an American-led multinational naval coalition in the Red Sea following the recent spree of Houthi attacks against allegedly Israeli-affiliated vessels. US sources also reported that America is preparing to strike that Yemeni rebel group that it delisted as terrorists in February 2021, which follows Israel's threat of unilateral action two weeks back.

Comment: Whilst the West has been destablising numerous countries in the Middle East for decades now, considering how pivotal Yemen, and the Houthis in particular, have been in hampering Israel's genocide of the Palestinians, it was rather prescient of the US to go to such efforts to destroy Yemen just a few years ago. At the time, Houthi retaliation was so effective that it forced Saudi Arabia to agree to a truce, much to the chagrin of the US.

Also of note: China has just responded to the West's Red Sea task force Chinese shipping company OOCL ceases service to Israel because of "operational issues"

Yemen resistance: Oh Palestine, We Have Come!

Throughout Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, the resistance has covered itself in glory. Every day we see militias armed with homemade weapons resisting an outright genocide carried out by one of the most high tech and lethal forces ever assembled. Only two months in, the Zionist cowards are already breaking under the heavy blows of the resistance, facing mass desertion in their ranks and widespread protests against the ruling regime at home. While the Palestinian resistance heroically stands their ground, they do not stand alone.

When the Palestinian people called for their allies to rise up and strike the fascists, no one else answered the call quite like Ansar Allah. The lionhearted Yemeni resistance stands defiant against the full might of the genocidal imperialist machine and fights back with all their might. Often called "Houthis" by the western media, this name is an intentional obfuscation designed to treat Ansar Allah as a simple ethnic militia rather than what it is, a popular front against American imperialism.

Comment: Though Yemen is the only one apparently standing up against Israel's genocide on Palestine, they have needless to say an ever growing support from people the world over as well as countries. It is noteworthy to see which countries did not sign up for the 'rules based' coalition. The big players in the region like Saudi Arabia and the UAE have not joined this coalition.

EU's top diplomat slams Israel

Josep Borrell

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has condemned what he described as Israel's indiscriminate targeting of civilians in Gaza in a post to social media on Monday, declaring an urgent need for a "humanitarian pause."

"We are witnessing an appalling lack of distinction in Israel's military operation in Gaza," Borrell wrote, citing the recent deaths of "worshippers, three Israeli hostages, and hundreds of other civilians" at the hands of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

"Far too many civilians have been killed in Gaza, as pointed out among others also by the French, German, and UK foreign ministers," the diplomat continued. Borrell was referring to a Sunday op-ed co-authored by the UK's David Cameron and Germany's Annalena Baerbock, as well as comments made during a press conference by France's Catherine Colonna that same day.

The shooting of a Palestinian Christian mother and daughter at the enclave's only Catholic Church by an Israeli sniper on Saturday attracted condemnation from international religious leaders, including Pope Francis.

The US escalation in the Red Sea is a lose/lose proposition

The latest escalation in world military affairs, the situation in the Red Sea and Yemen, has the real potential to eclipse both the war in Ukraine and the invasion of Gaza, both in terms of military and economic impact, on a global scale.

The hubris and abject idiocy of US plans to open yet another conflict that they cannot hope to win, and that cannot lead to anything but the destruction of the world economy can only be described as criminally insane.

In a recent letter to "Dear America", the Houthi leaders wrote,
"A desperate plea for reflection. The consequences are dire, and the responsibility lies with the guardians of the American dream. Beware, for the path you tread upon carries weighty consequences, reverberating across oceans and continents. Choose wisely..."
The choice is between demanding an end to the Gaza humanitarian tragedy or escalating the conflict into a war that will have global consequences. The US has already announced its intention to choose the latter. It is a choice for which the American people, if they allow it to happen, will suffer gravely.

The Pentagon, on Monday, announced an initiative to protect commercial traffic in the region after almost two months of attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea by forces in Yemen.

Operation Prosperity Guardian is a multi-national push to ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden under the structure of the existing Combined Task Force 153, according to the statement from Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

"Countries that seek to uphold the foundational principle of freedom of navigation must come together to tackle the challenge posed by this non-state actor launching ballistic missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) at merchant vessels from many nations lawfully transiting international waters," reads the statement from Austin.

"This is an international challenge that demands collective action."

Comment: And there you have it. It's not about 'freedom and democracy. It's about corporate profits. Dangerous times are ahead . . . .

I was naive about the West - Putin

The president has admitted believing the crusade against Russia would be over after the Soviet Union's collapse...

President Vladimir Putin has said he was wrong to assume the West would establish productive relations with Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In reality, it was determined to break the nation apart, the Russian leader explained.

In an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin aired on Sunday, Putin admitted that he was a "naive" leader early in his political career even though he had a solid background in Soviet intelligence.

The Russian president said that he had believed that the West understood that Russia had become a completely different country after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and that there were no further ideological differences warranting a serious stand-off.

According to Putin, even when he saw Western efforts to support terrorism and separatism in Russia two decades ago, he thought that it was the "inertia of thinking" that was to blame. "They had just got used to fighting the Soviet Union," he believed.

In reality, however, the West was deliberately trying to undercut Russia, the president said.
"After the collapse of the Soviet Union they thought they just had to wait a little longer, and then they would break Russia apart as well."
According to Putin, the West saw no need for the existence of the world's largest country, with its large population. "It would be better, as suggested by... [former US National Security Advisor Zbigniew] Brzezinski, to divide it into five parts, and subjugate them one by one."
