'Cancel Kurt Suzuki!': Washington Nats fans divided over team's White House visit

The Washington Nationals, winners of the baseball World Series, have capped off an American underdog story with a White House trip - and made the team subject to 'cancel culture' in the #Resistance era.

Kurt Suzuki, the champion team's catcher, was especially open in his appreciation for US President Donald Trump, donning the signature red MAGA hat. When called to the stage, the president embraced Suzuki and said that he loved him.

He soon became the target of much anger, with many calling to "officially cancel" the Nats catcher and others condemning how he was "cozying up to a monster who hates people like me."

One commenter on Twitter claimed that the MAGA hat was "a form of racist hate speech and an implicit threat of violence" and that "Kurt Suzuki should be banned from baseball."

China signs nearly 200 deals for new Silk Road projects & eyes further expansion

China's trillion-dollar Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), also known as "One Belt, One Road," has already attracted nearly 170 participants, Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced, vowing to further develop the project.

"To date, China has signed 197 documents on Belt and Road cooperation with 137 countries and 30 international organizations," he said in the opening speech at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai on Tuesday.

The development of the initiative, which is aimed at boosting trade connections across the world and linking China with other countries, is a central part of plans to open up the Chinese market, according to Xi. Other proposed measures include boosting investment and imports, lowering tariffs, developing free-trade zones, improving business environment as well as deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

"Standing at a new historical starting point, China will open its door only wider to the world," Xi stated, calling for other countries to "stand firm against protectionism and unilateralism."

The ambitious BRI, launched in September 2013 by President Xi, could cost Beijing up to $1.3 trillion by 2027, according to Morgan Stanley's estimates. China's cumulative investment in the BRI countries has already surpassed $100 billion, with the value of the construction projects exceeding $720 billion, Vice-Minister of Commerce Qian Keming said in September.

Certainly by now it's clear that Me Too has not gone too far in canceling powerful men. Harvey Weinstein is popping up at industry networking events in New York City. Louis C.K. just announced tour dates.

Perhaps the most glaring sign that the boys' club is still alive — and somewhat well — is flashing at NBC News. At its 30 Rock headquarters, NBC News President Noah Oppenheim and his boss NBC News Chairman Andy Lack are still running the show.

They remain at the helm despite the explosive reporting in Ronan Farrow's new book "Catch and Kill," which reveals how Oppenheim and Lack not only shut down the investigation into Harvey Weinstein's predatory and abusive treatment of women, but how NBC News silenced or ignored multiple allegations of sexual misconduct inside the company ― including overlooking the behavior of "Today" show host Matt Lauer for years before finally firing him in 2017.

What Farrow's book, and other reporting, shows is a news outlet more concerned with protecting powerful men than reporting the truth ― or protecting its employees from sexual predation. The tactics the company used to silence women — Farrow reports on nondisclosure agreements used to keep women silent — were not unlike the ones employed by Weinstein himself, or so many other sexual harassers.

Halloween may be over, but there's plenty of bloodshed at McDonald's this week after the shock sacking of CEO Steve Easterbrook, who became the sacrificial lamb to be slain in the name of corporate 'wokeness' and puritanism.

The reason? Like millions of people all over the world, the 52-year-old British businessman entered into a consensual relationship with a colleague.

Yep, that's correct - the divorced father-of-three dared to be human in the place where he was expected to be superhuman.

Apparently, this is an unforgivable offense in 2019 because it contravenes the fast food chain's strict company policy, which forbids bosses from having personal relations with subordinates, regardless of whether they directly manage them.

Security forces opened fire on an anti-government protest in Baghdad on November 4, hours after four demonstrators were shot dead outside the Iranian Consulate in the holy city of Karbala. It was the latest in a wave of violent incidents that marred the campaign of civil disobedience waged by angry Iraqis who accuse the government of rampant corruption and clientelism.

About 12 people were wounded in Baghdad when riot police shot at protesters massing near the state television headquarters, according to witnesses and security sources. It was the first time live rounds were fired at protesters in Baghdad since demonstrations resumed on October 24, following a period during which security forces had to use tear gas amid accusations of "excessive force."

Footage from the scene shows protesters burning tires and throwing Molotov cocktails around the building. According to reports, police fired live ammunition in an attempt to disperse the crowds. Protesters can be seen showing empty bullet casings in the video.


The local forensic medicine department confirmed to AFP that four protesters died after being shot. Police confirmed three people were killed and 19 protesters injured, while seven policemen were also hurt.

The attack on the consulate comes days after powerful Iraqi Shiite cleric Ali Sistani said Iraq must not be influenced by any "regional or international actor," which many heard as a reference to Iran.

Anonymous forum 8chan is back online after rebranding itself as 8kun

It is migrating boards from the old site, with one notable absence.

Anonymous internet forum 8chan has resurfaced under the name 8kun after going offline in early August, in the wake of a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas. The forum's return, as earlier reported by Gizmodo, was hinted at last month when the 8chan Twitter account revealed the new name.

The 8chan Twitter account noted over the weekend that it would continue to migrate boards from the old site, with 63 public ones active as of early Monday.

Jim Watkins, the owner of 8kun and 8chan, uploaded a video to YouTube on Saturday. In the video, Watkins said 8kun's traffic was already higher than expected.


"It is a fantastic amount of users who attempted to access at one time," he said in the video. "Although I expect setbacks and attacks, it is almost to the point already where no one man, corporation or government will be able to stifle us. Until that surprising trumpet sounds, it is likely that this movement will become unstoppable."

Comment: Some more on the rebranding from RT:
The site has long been embroiled in controversy related to users posting neo-Nazi and other extremist ideological content, as well as child pornography and the manifestos of several recent, high-profile mass shooters, the reason for which it was shut down in August 2019. Despite this, it once ranked among the top 4,000 most-visited sites in the world.

The one-time bastion of free speech has introduced a highly important change to its terms of use: "Anything considered illegal in the United States will be removed."

During testimony before US Congress, Watkins vowed not to remove so-called (but ill-defined) hate speech, but insisted that no illegal speech (under US law), that explicitly calls for violence, would be allowed on the platform.

"My company has no intention of deleting constitutionally protected hate speech. I feel the remedy for this type of speech is counter-speech, and I'm certain that this is the view of the American justice system."

Since relaunching, the site has reportedly experienced a myriad of problems owing to spikes in traffic as well as targeted cyberattacks.

In the wake of the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio in August, the site was taken down when internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare withdrew its content delivery network (CDN) service.

El Paso shooter 21-year-old Patrick Crusius posted his anti-immigrant manifesto there shortly before his shooting spree while the livestream footage of the Christchurch terrorist attack was also posted to the subform and shared repeatedly.

On Monday, James O'Keefe of Project Veritas dropped a bomb on Twitter when he teased an upcoming video release regarding Jeffrey Epstein's mysterious death.

Project Veritas is responsible for uncovering corruption within the Democratic party and the mainstream media through undercover camera footage where they build trust with high level Democrats and whistleblowers and reveal the mass corruption that is taking place.

Just last month, they released video footage provided by a CNN whistleblower who uncovered CNN's strong political bias against conservatives as well as certain Democrats.

Comment: Project Veritas' releases have been hit and miss, sometimes revealing big secrets with far-ranging implications, other times revealing what people basically already knew. But they're always accompanied by a lot of hype before the big reveal. It remains to be seen whether or not these secret insider video recordings live up to the publicity. Fingers crossed.

Project Veritas head James O'Keefe has activated a "deadman switch" before the release of new footage about a cover-up surrounding the death of Jeffrey Epstein, suggesting he has received threats from "very powerful people."

In a phone call with Alex Jones, O'Keefe said that his tweet about the deadman switch was not a joke, suggesting that Project Veritas had received threats not to make the information public.


"Before his tragic suicide sometime tomorrow morning, I knew @JamesOKeefeIII and admired his work," tweeted Jeremy Boering, to which O'Keefe responded, "Deadman switch activated."


O'Keefe confirmed the legitimacy of this tweet when he told Jones, "Yes we do in fact tomorrow morning have new video of Epstein cover-up, people in very high levels involved in this, we have the video tape."

"They don't know that they're being recorded, we're publishing it tomorrow - people have asked 'what about that deadman switch tweet?'"

"I take our security very very seriously, we have a lot of people in Project Veritas involved in this story and I just meant that whatever happens we're gonna publish the story tomorrow morning...and we've gotten the attention of some very powerful people," said O'Keefe.

The Epstein bombshell drops at 9am EST.

Clinton took the stage at Riverbend Church to promote "The Book of Gusty Women" with her daughter Chelsea.

However, before the event, radio host Alex Jones rolled through the area in an armored tank and bombarded Clinton supporters with his firebrand rhetoric.
