Even black men can be fired for not being "woke" enough

French President Emmanuel Macron made international headlines when he expressed concerns that American cultural influence is creating division in France. As a Canadian, I have made similar observations in my country, too.

Wokeness — a political agenda with a superficial commitment to diversity and inclusion — has become a global ideological movement. And, more than government policy, it's big corporations pushing this agenda and punishing those who refuse to comply.

Weeks after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis in 2020, Bell Media hired me to be part of the iHeartRadio talk network as a radio host. From my perspective, Bell Media/iHeartRadio recognized that despite its publicized commitment to valuing people from different backgrounds, they had yet to ever hire a fulltime black talk radio host in their Canadian market. What my experience made clear is that the company failed to consider what it would mean to sincerely engage someone from a black community, without expectations that we conform to the pressures of tokenism.

Breitbart is on the ground with Canada's Freedom Convoy

"It's nothing but smiles, good vibes, support, love, appreciation, resistance, and freedom thoughts," Dave from Montreal told me on Wednesday with a slight Quebecois accent, describing the ongoing protests against Chinese coronavirus mandates in the nation's capital.

Dave traveled to Canada's capital to help support truckers and other protesters in front of Parliament Hill, pairing up with an elderly lady to sustain the rally's participants with coffee, hot chocolate, assorted protein bars, soups, sandwiches, and whatever else others donated.

Truckers began organizing convoys from Western Canada the week prior in opposition to the federal government's decree that "unvaccinated" Canadian truck drivers re-entering the country by land subject themselves to a 14-day "quarantine." "Unvaccinated" foreign truckers are now denied entry to Canada.

The world's largest news broadcaster has posted an erroneous and misleading "fact check" of Joe Rogan's Spotify podcast, a show that has become a lightning rod for media criticism after featuring wide-ranging conversations with people across the political spectrum, including some who hold minority views about COVID-19. A fact-check from the BBC's "Reality Check team" purports to refute four claims made on The Joe Rogan Experiencebut Rogan did not make all of the claims examined, and the BBC confirms a statement made by a guest on the show, but persists in calling it "misleading."

Comment: With Rogan daily lapping the mainstream media in ratings, they are getting more desperate to shut him down. It appears that Spotify has bent the knee:

Boris Johnson's policy chief quits over PM's use of Jimmy Savile 'slur' against Sir Keir Starmer

Munira Mirza
Munira Mirza with Boris Johnson
Boris Johnson's policy chief has quit over the prime minister's use of a discredited claim that Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer personally failed to prosecute Jimmy Savile.

Munira Mirza has resigned from her £145,000-a-year role after Mr Johnson today stepped back from his remarks, but did not offer an apology.

In her resignation letter to the prime minister, as published by The Spectator magazine, Ms Mirza wrote: "I believe it was wrong for you to imply this week that Keir Starmer was personally responsible for allowing Jimmy Savile to escape justice.

"There was no fair or reasonable basis for that assertion. This was not the usual cut and thrust of politics; it was an inappropriate and partisan reference to a horrendous case of child sex abuse.

"You tried to clarify your position today but, despite my urging, you did not apologise for the misleading impression you gave."

Sixteen Univ. of Penn. swimmers say transgender teammate Lia Thomas should not be allowed to compete

Sixteen members of the University of Pennsylvania women's swimming team sent a letter to school and Ivy League officials Thursday asking that they not take legal action challenging the NCAA's recently updated transgender policy. That updated directive has the potential to prevent Penn swimmer Lia Thomas from competing at next month's NCAA championships, and the letter indicates the 16 other swimmers believe their teammate should be sidelined.

Thomas, a transgender woman who swims for the Quakers women's team, competed for the Penn men's team for three seasons. After undergoing more than two years of hormone replacement therapy as part of her transition, she has posted the fastest times of any female college swimmer in two events this season. The letter from Thomas's teammates raised the question of fairness and said she was taking "competitive opportunities" away from them — namely spots in the Ivy League championship meet, where schools can only send about half of their rosters to compete.

Team USA runner 'silenced' over trans athlete concerns

Cynthia Monteleone

A world champion track-and-field star who raised concerns about advantages held by transgender athletes competing in women's sports has alleged she was told to 'keep her mouth shut' by Team USA track-and-field.

Cynthia Monteleone, 45, is one of the US' foremost Masters athletes and a world champion in the 400m, but yesterday revealed her own team told her not to complain about having to compete against trans competitors.

In an interview yesterday on the eve of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, the Hawaiian-based runner hit out against the 'grossly unfair' rules allowing trans athletes to compete alongside biological females and recounted how she felt facing a trans athlete during the 2018 World Championships in Malaga, Spain.

Monteleone still managed to beat transgender competitor, Yanelle Del Mar Zape of Colombia, but claimed Team USA officials later insisted: 'for your own safety you should probably keep your mouth shut,' before she could make a complaint.

'Only Russia can stop a full-on invasion by Ukraine': What people in Donbass say about the ongoing military crisis

Donetsk

Vladislav Ugolny, a freelance reporter based in Donetsk
The war in Ukraine has been going on for eight years. Recently, tensions began heating up, with multiple Western countries expecting an imminent 'Russian invasion' of its neighbor. Moscow strongly denies these rumors, instead pointing the finger at Ukraine and Kiev's increased eagerness to take back its 'rogue regions' by force, exacerbated by the West's shipments of arms and ammunition. RT asked Donetsk-based journalist Vladislav Ugolniy to describe what life is like in the city many expect a relapse into a full-scale war, and what residents think of Russia, Ukraine, and the never-ceasing drumbeat of war.

The "invasion" will happen after the so-called rasputitsa, the season when roads become extremely muddy and make it difficult for military vehicles and hardware to move around. Since 2015, the armed volunteers in the Donbass have apparently waited for the mud to dry up every spring or freeze solid in the fall. The myth that thousands of people had bought into became a funny meme about the frozen state of the geopolitical hostages - the breakaway republics in eastern Ukraine.

'Disturbing' state of high-traffic American bridges revealed, 1/3 of all structures need major repairs

Nearly 224,000 high-traffic US bridges - roughly a third of all such structures in the country - either need to be replaced or require major repairs, according to a new report. It says over 43,500 bridges, which are crossed over 167 million times daily, have deteriorated to such a poor condition that they are "structurally deficient."

The report, published on Wednesday by transport infrastructure advocacy group American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), analyzes recently released figures from the US Department of Transportation's (DoT) 2021 National Bridge Inventory database. The group estimates that the total cost of repairs could run up to $260 billion.

Comment: The US always manages to find the money for its forever wars and encroaching police state.

Comment: Meanwhile a UN survey just declared Moscow as the world best city for quality of life and infrastructure.

With Trudeau in hiding, CBC suggests Putin behind truckers' freedom convoy UPDATE: CBC admits no evidence for Russian meddling

putin canada
While in a normal world this would be beyond satire and ridicule, it is perhaps of no surprise whatsoever that the blame for instigation of the "Freedom Convoy" is already being placed on so-called 'Russian actors'...

"...given Canada's support of Ukraine... I don't know it it's far-fetched to ask but there is concern that Russian actors could be continuing to fuel things as this protest grows... perhaps even instigating it..."

Comment: For more on the Freedom Convoy, see the rest of the article here.

You can sense the desperation of the pro-vax, pro-mandate crowd in their glomming-on to all the usual tropes in an attempt to smear the trucker protest. White supremacists, racists, anti-vaxxers, holocaust deniers (seriously) - they're pulling out every possible evil word they've got in their bag to try to paint the trucker protest as a gathering of ne'er-do-wells. This Washington Post cartoon really says it all (and a beautiful illustration of how 'the left can't meme'):

wapo trucker cartoon
So it's really no surprise that they've thrown Russia into the mix. They're hilarious in their predictability.

UPDATE: The CBC have admitted that there was never any evidence for Russian interference in the Freedom Convoy protest. From the Post Millennial:

The CBC's assertion that Russia could be playing a role in the freedom convoy was not based in fact, the network said on Thursday.

According to Blacklock's Reporter, the CBC said in a statement that they should have consulted "experts' concerns" that the tensions in Ukraine and Moscow "could use its cyber and disinformation capabilities."

The freedom convoy was organized by Albertans.

GiveSendGo agrees to host trucker Freedom Convoy donations after GoFundMe cancels fundraiser

trucker convoy givesendgo
GiveSendGo, the Christian crowdfunding website, has agreed to host the Canadian truckers' Freedom Convoy donations after GoFundMe canceled the fundraiser and seized over $10 million in donations.

Comment: More from The Post Millennial:
GoFundMe, the crowdfunding platform that recently seized over $10 million in funds intended for the Canadian truckers' Freedom Convoy, financially supported and promoted the illegal "Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone" or CHAZ/CHOP in Seattle, Washington during the height of the summer 2020 riots that broke out in the wake of George Floyd's death.

As detailed by Jack Posobiec on Twitter, GoFundMe tweeted an advertisement publicizing one of the many crowdfunds set up in the CHAZ/CHOP, which was established by Black Lives Matter supporters, local gangs, and elements of Antifa, who set up a cop-free perimeter that encased several neighborhoods in Seattle's Capitol Hill district.

Several people, including three minors, were gunned down at the location.
[...]

Crucially, GoFundMe has supported violent, illegal movements such as CHAZ/CHOP but has cited "police reports of violence and other unlawful activity" and its policies against "violence and harassment" as its reason for seizing the Freedom Convoy's crowdfund.
