Boris Johnson praises Peppa Pig in bizarre CBI speech
Boris Johnson has been criticised by senior business leaders and Conservative MPs for a "rambling" speech to top industry figures that saw him extensively praise Peppa Pig World, compare himself to Moses and imitate the noise of an accelerating car.

The prime minister's sprawling address to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) was accused of lacking seriousness and professionalism. Johnson lost his place during the speech and spent 20 seconds repeating "forgive me" as he shuffled the printed pages on his podium.

Some hoped the speech would be a chance for Johnson to announce proper policy in the pursuit of his "levelling up" agenda. However, the speech at the Port of Tyne near South Shields only contained an announcement about changing building regulations to ensure all new homes and buildings in England have electric vehicle charging points installed from next year.


Comment: This is the government insidiously rolling out the Build Back Better green agenda whilst aspiring home owners struggle with house prices higher than they were before the crash of 2008.

The usual suspects tried everything against Yemen.

First, coercing it into 'structural reform.' When that didn't work, they instrumentalized takfiri mercenaries. They infiltrated and manipulated the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), ISIS. They used US drones and occasional marines.

And then, in 2015, they went Total Warfare: a UN-backed rogue coalition started bombing and starving Yemenis into submission - with barely a peep from the denizens of the 'rules-based international order.'

The coalition - House of Saud, Qatar, UAE, US, UK - for all practical purposes, embarked on a final solution for Yemen.

With energy prices spiking, President Biden went to OPEC and asked them to produce more oil. American energy companies tell Biden he can get the oil cheaper and faster by removing restrictions and asking American companies to produce more oil.

In 2020 the last year of the Trump presidency, the American economy reached a long-desired goal, energy independence. However, during Biden's first days in the White House, he signed executive orders stopping drilling on federal land, including the much-desired drilling at ANWR in Alaska. He canceled the Keystone XL pipeline and recently announced is considering shutting down the L5 pipeline running from Michigan to Canada. . These executive orders sent energy companies a message that he intended to keep his promise to kill the fossil fuel industry.

Worried their businesses were facing attacks from team Biden, energy companies became reluctant to commit more money into new oil and gas production. Also, institutional investors who have traditionally invested in fossil fuel companies have become energy woke. They have cut them out of investment portfolios entirely,

Comment: A similar situation is unfolding over in Europe whereby, despite being desperate for a reliable and affordable energy supply, Germany is refusing to certify Nord Stream II, likely due to US pressure.

If irony were a psychoactive compound, the amount produced by Andrew Cuomo's departure from office last August would've been enough to cause a rash of fatal overdoses. In the span of just a few months, Cuomo went from being one of the country's most formidable and even fearsome elected officials, to having the prefix "disgraced" obligatorily attached to his "former governor" job title. This after being exposed, purportedly, as a serial sexual predator. Sure — there have been dramatic falls from grace before. But this one was on some other level.

Cuomo of course already commanded a large national profile before 2020, but thanks to a wave of corporate media adulation during the height of COVID, he was transformed into a newfound "national hero" and noble foil to Donald Trump — with murmurs that he'd even launch a late bid for president. "Andrew Cuomo may be the single most popular politician in America right now," one representative CNN headline blared.

Then, in a brutal Shakespearean twist of fate, a slew of curiously choreographed "accusations" emerged — and in the blink of an eye, many of those same media operators turned on him like it was nothing.

The US Army has threatened repercussions for soldiers who decline to receive Covid-19 vaccinations, saying that insubordinate troops will be barred from promotions, reenlistment, and a number of special military services.

Army personnel who refuse the jab, including reservists and Army National Guard troops, will now have their service records "flagged," preventing them from receiving "favorable personnel actions" such as reenlistment bonuses, promotions to higher ranks, decorations and other awards, attending military academies, as well as tuition assistance with higher education, according to an official memo obtained by DefenseOne on Thursday.

Army Secretary Christine Wormuth wrote in the document, dated November 16:
"I authorize commanders to impose bars to continued service... for all soldiers who refuse the mandatory vaccine order without an approved exemption or pending exemption request. The soldier will remain flagged until they are fully vaccinated, receive an approved medical or administrative exemption, or are separated from the army."

More than a year ago, Belarusian security forces detained 33 Russian mercenary fighters, almost all captured as part of a spectacular raid on a spa hotel outside the capital of Minsk, broadcast on the country's primetime news.

Initially, the authoritarian leader Aleksander Lukashenko, then facing a serious challenge from the opposition in presidential elections, accused Russia of sending the soldiers of fortune to, in essence, topple him. The Kremlin rejected the accusation, and subsequently Moscow and Minsk quickly settled the issue: Lukashenko dropped his bizarre claim, and the mercenaries were returned to Russia.

For once, even the Western media displayed some caution. Often the first to point the finger at purported Russian meddling, even the New York Times and Washington Post - hardened veterans of America's "Russiagate" disinformation campaign - noted that independent observers were not convinced by the Belarusian leader's accusations.

The pension fund of British arms manufacturer BAE Systems has reached agreement with Dublin City Council to lease for social housing a number of family homes it recently purchased in the Irish capital.

They include a mix of newly-built apartments and houses, as well as refurbished homes on different roads in Kimmage and Crumlin which were snapped up by the pension fund.

The deal is understood to be under consideration by council lawyers but could see six homes delivered for social housing in early 2022.

Comment: It's rather unsettling that across the West there's been a recent move by big business to buy up housing to lease to the public, more so considering house prices are soaring to levels unseen since before the bubble and crash of 2008:
