Madison Coe's mother and grandmother tell us she was in the bathtub, and either plugged her phone in or simply grabbed her phone that was already plugged in. It happened at her father's house in Lovington, NM.
Madison just graduated from the 8th grade from Terra Vista Middle School in Frenship ISD.
"It is with heavy hearts that Frenship ISD mourns the loss of Madison Coe. We wish to share our heartfelt sympathy with her family and friends as we carry the burden of this tragedy together," officials with FISD said.
Madison was expected to attend high school in Houston, as her family was in the process of moving.
"I call her my shining star," her grandmother, Donna O'Guinn, said.
Madison Coe was a 14-year-old, wise beyond her years.
"She was very smart, a very good student in school. She just loved life," O'Guinn said.
Madison had so much of her life ahead of her, as she made an impact on those around her with her positivity and kindness.
She was a basketball player and the number one chair with her tuba in the band at Terra Vista Middle School.
"She was just sweet to everybody and everybody loved her," O'Guinn said.
As O'Guinn fights back the tears, she says it is hard to understand why her granddaughter's life was taken far too soon.
Her family says Madison was in the bathtub and grabbed her phone that was plugged into a charger in a bathroom outlet.
"There was a burn mark on her hand, the hand that would have grabbed the phone. And that was just very obvious that that's what had happened," O'Guinn said.
Madison's family believes this terrible accident is something that could happen to anyone.
But now their mission is to make sure it doesn't happen again.
"This is such a tragedy that doesn't need to happen to anyone else. And we want something good to come out of this as awareness of not using your cell phone in the bathroom as it is plugged in and charging," O'Guinn said.
The post about Coe on Facebook continues to be shared, opening up many eyes to the power of electricity, and the danger of plugging in any electrical appliance near water.
"It's overwhelming to realize that there are people that we don't even know and we'll probably never even meet that have taken this message and shared it to protect another child or even an adult. We don't want to lose anybody," O'Guinn said.
So as Madison's family mourns her loss, they have hope that this message will resonate with anyone who hears it.
It's the positivity she always carried with her, continuing to make a difference in the world.
"We need to be aware. We need to teach our children that electricity and water do not mix," O'Guinn said. "She's just going to be greatly missed by all of us. She has a special place in my heart."
There will be a memorial service for Madison Coe on Saturday, July 15th, at 2:00 p.m. at Kings Ridge Church of Christ in Lubbock. The address is 4201 98th Street.
Madison's mother posted details for a memorial scheduled for Saturday:
"On Saturday, July 15th at 6:30 p.m. the family and friends of Madison Coe will be having a balloon/candlelight memorial at Terra Vista Middle School. Everyone is invited to celebrate the memory of an amazing young lady. She made such an impact on so many people! We will be releasing orange balloons and sharing memories."

Cheap electronics fails closed instead of open sometimes.
It will be awhile i think before we see the results of the investigation, I still say this initial story is BS.
We are talking about what, 5 volts and measly half an amp, TINY pin connectors on the phone, tiny wire..
Unless somehow the transformer/charger passed the 115 volts into the charge cord. About impossible I would say.
Sounds BS
One small possiblity was she had the cord, charger and outlet dripping wet, plugging it in as she was standing in the tub. Current went thru the water on the outside of charger and contacted pins in outlet.... Stilll that sounds too 'unlucky" to me to happen.
I think she did something far more stupid , but they are playing it off with such an innocent act.
Grab that chicken, son! $$
I seem to have been confronted with a number of obvious untruths to deal with lately.
I see a unrealistic story and a $10,455 GoFundMe page. This alone is going to drive the investigators to the truth, again if the above police report is genuine.
I already stated that she was highly unlikely to get a shock off the phone or the usb lead.
If she was stood in a bath of running water there is a low resistance path to earth through the water and piping to earth. Even water in a plastic pipe water still conducts electricity.
If the power supply unit had faulty insulation i.e. a cracked case and she had wet hands and she plugged the unit into the socket that had no or faulty earth leakage protection she would receive an electric shock.
If the power outlet had earth leakage protection and she was not earthed i.e. stood on a ceramic tiled floor, she could still receive a shock between live and neutral that would not operate the earth leakage device and would only operate circuit protection devices above the fuse or MCB rating.
I see it all the time, electrical equipment with cracked, broken and damaged insulation.
Damp and wet environments offer excellent low resistance paths to earth the increase the magnitude of shock currents. Remember also that 110V is only an RMS value peak voltage is much higher.
@ Alan. You re not only good at electricity. You re great at research and investigative work.... plus you are plenty bright (like my bro B).
High5 Men
Never touch the prongs when inserting plug into wall socket. It's easy to do by accident when your hands are wet and they slip off the plastic as you are pushing the device into the socket. I understand that most new sockets don't engage the prongs until there is little or no space between the device and the socket plate, however older sockets and sockets with crap and water jammed inside will be just as dangerous.
So since the death on the 9th, 2 days run has brought in over half of the $20,000.
The whole thing still stinks.
My thoughts on all the above, (e.g., the tiny pins in an AC/DC charger connection, the flimsy wires, etc. is that above and beyond any built in safety devices, (e.g., GFC outlets), that each flimsy part would likewise act as a fuse / breaker before any big Zap could hit the girl.
Am I thinking on point?
R.C.
.
Or This whole bogus story is a test to see who and how many will buy absurd FAKE NEWS....
A typical cell phone charger can deliver a lethal current to a person quite easily from the AC or DC sides of the circuits, especially if that person has their body immersed in water and the water is grounded with metal plumbing. As Ruth pointed out, water and electricity are a bad combination.
Atleast its not too intellectual for once. I like it. Struutttt your stuff Alan gogogo i m sincere, plus... i wouldnt have figured out the gofund-theme.
Nice ta see ya RC
hfl... typical bore
Wow, what does it take to convince one of the safety of a VERY WELL TESTED and USED device. Somebody is full of shit in this whole story, and it's sure as hell not me.
P.S. the GFM page is $11,087 as i post this.

All we need is a hashattack now LOL
Horrific USB power supply fault. (Electrocution risk.) [Link]
Fake news, all the blather is moot.
A good approximation of the feeling....
Should say,
Was the circuit protection fuse wire? If so they can take up to 5 seconds to blow whilst supplying fault current well in excess of 20A. Generally when I test earth fault loop impedance an outlet on a 20A circuit my meter will read a prospective fault current in excess of 200A sometimes far higher depending on how close the transformer is to the installation.
I use littlefuse when i replace a littlefuse unit, and i use what other exact replacement fuse i need to maintain desired operation.
[Link] to a catalog of this sort of device, notice the 2500 count to them,
[Link] Replacing a SMD fuse is sometimes a pain but with my mouser link i can buy a small amount of the exact fuse i need to maintain the OEM state of a device.

This is DC, first flash dude was cooked, second flash he was charcoal, 600v i think..
This sort of thing is why AC is so important.
What is your need to make this into something when it is a bullshit story is a very good question everyone should ask whilst rereading the whole thread and camping out in logic land for a few beers..

If you have plenty of hair Please consider a donation to my favorite charity.
I was talking about you mainly, Hair Bear Bunch. You're unhinged.
Alan Reid has a day off from his hard-core shit-fits about chemtrails, only to have a day on ranting like an evangeloon about freaking cellphone chargers.
I don't understand why a person who owned such a thing would even read SOTT. You own a smartphone and you're worried about chemtrails???
"The whole story stinks of lie."
Don't be too shocked if in the next couple of days she fails to jump up from the slab and yell "Surprise!!!".
My old reliable helper can answer that, [Link]
The installation of mains voltage outlets in bathrooms demands strict distances from baths showers and sinks.
It is also law that all new outlets installed must have earth leakage protection (GFCI, RCD,RCCBO what ever you want top call it.
The DIY guy that thinks he can do electrical work himself is not always aware of such laws and regulations.
There is also a possibility that this was an old installation wired before the law was made requiring GFCI devices, they are still out there.
If the phone was able to be dropped in the bath or used whilst in the bath then the socket outlet was too close to the bath so it was not compliant on distance.
If the power supply had a cracked case allowing water to contact the primary when she plugged the unit in then she would be in contact with mains voltage.
If the mains socket outlet had a cracked fascia it could once again if she splashed it and used a wet hand to plug the charger in receive an electric shock.
Only the circuit fusing at the switchboard would protect her if there was no GFCI.
The fusing at the switchboard if in the best case scenario was a 20A MCB the prospective fault current that would pass through her if she was earthed would be far in excess of 200A . If the transformer that supplies the house is near the house then the prospective fault current could be nearer 400A. It would pass this current for 0.4 seconds, this is the disconnection time of MCBs
If in the worst case scenario it was a rewire-able fuse then it could pass that prospective fault current for 5 seconds before blowing.
As I said previously if there was another appliance somewhere in the house loading the circuit the shock would be much greater as current is already flowing in the circuit. Try zapping yourself with an unloaded circuit and a loaded circuit if you do not believe me.
Furthermore you stood on your carpet in boots bone dry is a lot different of a situation than when you are soaking wet stood or sat in a bath of water that is earthed via copper piping.
Yong people and the infirm are also more vulnerable to electrocution than healthy adults.
There are reasons that GFCI units are by law only allowed to pass 30mA before activating.
Even if there was a GFCI device they sometimes fault which is why it is important to test them regularly with the trip button and have them tested periodically by an electrician with the proper test equipment.
I may be missing something else but as I am not there to view and test the socket, or charger or check for compliance then I can only talk about what could have caused a fatal shock.
You can buy cheap chargers on ebay that don't even go through compliance are they legal hell no, do you break the law selling them yes, but how are you going to arrest someone in China?
As for you ad hominem attack I'm not surprised of such behavior from a man that would try and ridicule, dismiss and call BS on the death of young girl when he does not have all the facts.
I did a search and i saw a few Russian cases, one man and 90+ reports of this 14 year old. after a bunch of reading those reports i started to think 'Click Bait'
With all the reports in MSM venues i find it weird that the GFM stalled a $11,200 mark.
I will say again the whole thing stinks real bad.
I also stand on the claim that a USB charger is going to fail to produce enough current to kill or cause burns.
The GoFundMe page going up 7 to 10 hours after her death is HIGHLY suspicious.
You only have her parents guess at what happened interpreted by a journalist.
It may have been to socket outlet or a damaged charger housing that gave her the shock not the usb lead, do you not read?
Quite ironic considering your last name.
I will continue to call then as i see them until i don't see them any longer, Same goes for the completely obvious Chemtrail operation, Plenty of twit-morons are being paid to spew this shit, i do this for free, and for truth, and to aggravate the shit out of the trolls on a payroll.
After seeing the GFM and the timeline on it's creation i was thinking WTF? any one looking at the same thing will be thinking the same.thoughts.

PC Craig Pattison told the inquest at West London Coroner's Court how he found the extension lead running from the hallway outside into the bathroom."We found an iPhone plugged into the extension cable and then the charger element in the bath," he explained.
How do you know that a similar fate didn't befall Madison?
Woman, 24, is electrocuted after dropping charging iPhone in bath[Link]
23-year-old Chinese woman was recently electrocuted while trying to answer her iPhone as it was charging.[Link]
According to Xinhua, China's official state-run news agency, the young woman, Ma Ailun, had an "obvious electronic injury to her neck" upon an "elementary inspection" by investigators. "We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic incident and offer our condolences to the Ma family," Apple said in a statement. "We will fully investigate and co-operate with authorities on this matter."Ma had apparently left her bath to go answer a call when the mishap occurred, but the details beyond that are a bit murky.
Sniffing through the huge heap of reports on the story the term 'Click Bait' just will not go away.
I ll read on.... wowa everybody,. I m impressed!!
Hash it was a compliment. I really enjoy reading your comments. Your witty smart and always original!!
Alan... hfl is a bore.
The core ABSURDITY of this story, the NONSENSICAL explanation and the fact of the GFM page all are screaming "Response TEST'
Folk like me use these events to sow questions and thought starters for those still breathing air in logic land.
The USS Fitzgerald is another story like this one in intent. A test of mass response, it's result will be used to tune the next pass of the AI.
Calling out the BS and sowing the monkey wrenches is worth having a go at. Listen to the tiny voice showing you untruth, be the results of the awareness, It's our only hope.
Thanks Linda May.
The amount of study and analysis that will be targeted on those 235 humans to figure out what parts of the story worked for them is going on right now, will continue, and everyone of the confirmed will undergo the same sort of inspection. The NEWS craft set developed this witchcraft and now the layers above them are developing it to use against you. Someone is ALWAYS watching,Taking Notes, Logging info.
Once you understand the game, once you understand the darkness these fools hide in, once you fathom the need to hide in computer logic and use code to keep power... you can play. Have an effect. Do some good.
This is the most comments I have seen! Alan this FAKE NEWS really unhinged you, LOL.
I know its unsettling watching dupes fall for crap, Want to grab em' and shake em'. But look how many completely buy the political systems and other fantasies! Plenty more need shaking, smaking etc.
You know the saying about fools and money.
Oh well, What ever you say.
I can remain rational if You can?
Since when is having an opinion and a discussion about an subject, regardless of quantity a path to being unhinged?
Perhaps the whole point is to coax a few of the still near rational folk down from swinging from the trees.
Perhaps it is to just limit the amount thinking swinging from tree to tree is a worthy endeavor.
I don't see anyone holding a gun to your head, forcing you to read this thread, do I?
We knew this story was BS as soon as it was posted, I'm betting someone closer to this case will figure it out and then there will be :
Texas teen electrocution GO Fund ME scandal!
See you there!
At this point i am still not convince in any way that anyone was killed.
Sigh.
You still don't believe the dangers of texting on a charging cellphone in the shower, do you?..
One day I hope you will understand...For your sake, And your childrens, and your childrens children
I know all about this sort of potential danger, I know the impressive system here in the land of stupid developed to keep the death toll from moronic actions to a minimum.
I don't fear a phantom danger, I ask the basic questions first, define the metrics of the story, reason the possibilities and the absurdities, then i work out the lies from the truths and act accordingly.
This silly moronic tale does need some clarification for the less intellectual, But even trying to limit the technological jargon seems to not help. Anyone that has the means to get a continuity tester and a cellphone charger can easily show ZERO connection to the USB from the two mains prongs. A very simple TRUTH in this area, There is a whole bunch of blather above trying to claim this truth is not a truth, but sorry pumpkin it is a truth. learn the truths, actually test the real devices for conformation, then make a point to reason the whole story out.
As i have said, A rational walk from mains to ground using logic is going to hit a huge amount of WTF realities showing this story is complete bullshit.
The myth building operation going on here is not getting a pass from me, The need to obscure the whole mass mind about the realities of electricity is a very carefully prepared and rolled out operation. The more stupid you are the easier you are to tax.
Keeping the average joe buying the fresh new product is a ever harder push, now that cash is so tight. Preventing him from sustaining a device or fixing an error for himself must be discouraged with as many means as is possible. This story is part of that.
If you think you can be killed by grabbing your cell whilst in the bath then your just proving your place and intellect.
Fear is the most powerful stick to beat you with. Be afraid, It's electricity fool, you could be killed Man! what are you thinking?
Once you KNOW, you Know. The absurdities can be fathomed from then on with ease.
The danger is in soaking your $600 phone and having to replace it.

The Square in a square symbol is the assurance that the device is NOT going to shock your dumb ass in the shower as you post selfie of yourself.
If you ever get a shock from a USB jack, destroy that device, Take it to the garage find a nice big hammer, put on some safety glasses and smash it to bits so it will never be a danger.
RC has found some mean competitor in you !!
Great read before going to bed haha it s becoming a habit
I m enjoying this thread and learning and giggling at the wit expressed. Thanks!!
I dont believe a shit word of the storyline myself O_o What a society!!

It s the record man; ditch it!
even a blind chipmonk finds a nut once in a while.
I did not see any prohibitions on comment numbers at any time since i have been here.
Ok, so let me see here.... so far HFL has found 4 possible electrocution deaths, What does this really mean?
In service right now there is an estimated 15-19 BILLION cellphones, in use by average users is 8.5-10 billion of those, 4 deaths is a UNBELIEVABLY GOOD safety record Highland Fleet Luke. This is because like i have said the systems that protect the user are VERY good. The dudes that sell these devices are highly concerned that they are safe to protect the whole system from becoming shunned because of danger. World wide Bilions of dollars worth of money is spent to ensure the danger is as low as it can be.
With those odds i would think you would have done some thinking, But pushing a moronic meme is what your job is.
Back here in reality land, Worry about the dangers of being killed by a charging cellphone is a HUGE long shot looking at the actual cases our worrywart has found.
What's next?
I don't need some reward or compensation to be willing to help others gain a bit of info and work out some truths. I trust everyone to do as they think is best, If you think what i have written here is some sort of trick or a bunce of deception you are free to think like that, if so, i don't do it for you. If in fact you read the info, do some tests and see some truth then perhaps the path to further enlightenment is opened for you.
The entire intent of this story is to sell fear and ignorance, My counter story is to do the exact opposite. You might disagree with what i have said here, or how i said it, but others can see the reason, can fathom the intent, and can see very plainly why someone like me might just enjoy throwing water on their intended fire.
THE Four Agreements (?)
The whole premise is retarded.
Thank God.
Bon Matin everybody
[Link] But wait folks, there's More! for a real jolt look into this post
[Link] then you can see the stupidity of moaning about four deaths, perhaps.
Cellphones do kill, but electrocution is not one of the causes.

Anyone here willing to tell us if they have tried to see if a 5v phone charger will in any way shock you in the bath?
Did anyone here even get a continuity tester and investigate the idea of double insulated?
Until you do your own testing, you are ignorant of the results
anyone want to guess what is most on display here in regards this topic?
You don't have to look too far to see what crossing the platform from one sort of electromagnetic field to another has done to people.
How he did this was with a dynamo from a old vintage crank telephone. He gathered us into a circle had us hold hands and then he gave the two at the end each a wire to hold, The results of the crank of the thing proved what he had said to us, everyone got a turn as a conductor and the zapped. That experience was INVALUABLE to me throughout my life. the number one thing i learned was electricity is not as was portrayed by most that were ignorant of the realities of it's manifestations.
I know a little bit of intentional shocking would do you some good too if it compelled in you some willingness to think about the idea of what was going on.. Learning about truth is not as easy as it might sound. And therefore the above word count was required.
lol
Zero info about an autopsy yet. Not one word new in the last 2 weeks.
This sort of ME work is not too difficult is it, Does it take near a month to do an autopsy? Not really.
I see from the stink and stupidity of this story it was a put up.
The story it tells to a thinker is dire. The things that are revealed about North American society is very troubling.
275 persons bought it, $13,342 is what they paid. and still no proof of any of the underlying story is even true.
Must be a fake NEWS story.
Lot's of bullshit surrounds everyone these days.
