Netherlands threatens 600 'illegal' farmers with fines for failing to buy emissions license

At least 259 farms operating without a licence will face fines if they don't buy a nitrogen emissions quota or cut down on livestock, the agriculture ministry has confirmed to the NRC.

Some 2,500 farmers in the Netherlands are partly unlicensed but had been allowed by the government to continue and even expand it they could keep their nitrogen emissions below a certain level near vulnerable natural areas.

Following a court ruling in 2019, that exemption no longer holds, and now farmers are being forced to act.

Comment: Most farms are already struggling to get by so these demands for licenses and downsizing, and the subsequent fines, are blatantly just another avenue by which corrupted governments intend to throw (independent) farmers out of business, and seriously threatening the increasingly fragile food supply in the process:

Huge explosions reported in Israel, Dominican Republic, major fire at Iran's Grand Bazaar

explosion Israel
© Daniel Amram on Telegram,A screenshot from a video of a large blast seen from a driving dashboard in Ramat Hasharon in the early hours of Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Comment: Whilst the causes of these explosions and huge fires will be varied - and are likely to include accident, arson, politically motivated sabotage/attack, and Earth Changes - the sheer number that have occurred, and in locations all over the planet, is notable.

A man in his thirties was seriously injured and two people were lightly wounded in a large explosion at an industrial site in the central city of Ramat Hasharon early Tuesday.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately known, but police and emergency responders said the situation was under control.

The site of the blast was a factory in the city's industrial area, according to preliminary reports in Hebrew media. A short clip from a driver's dashboard that is circulating online showed a large explosion and a bright flash of light off a main road near the city.

A fiery explosion in a market area in the Dominican Republic kills 3 and injures dozens

A powerful explosion rocked a bustling market area near the capital of the Dominican Republic on Monday, killing at least three people and injuring more than 30 others as people tried to flee amid the chaos, authorities said.

The explosion occurred at a bakery in the city of San Cristobal, which lies just west of Santo Domingo, the country's 911 system said in a statement.

Charred cars and debris from several collapsed buildings lined the streets as thick, black smoke rose from the city's center and enveloped several blocks, prompting businesses to evacuate while crowds gathered to film the aftermath. Some said they thought it was a bomb or an earthquake.

Left in the rubble were shoes, overturned chairs and even a motorcycle helmet.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the afternoon explosion, which officials said sparked a fire that spread from the bakery to a hardware store next door and a nearby furniture store.

The area is known as "Old Marketplace," where throngs of people shop daily for goods ranging from fruits to clothes. The victims were a 4-month-old baby who died from a head injury and two adults whose bodies were 90% burned, according to a statement from Dr. Mario Lama, director of the National Health Service. A local bank confirmed one of its female employees died in the explosion.

At least 39 people were reported injured as of late Monday night.

The death toll is expected to increase, with firefighters unable to enter certain buildings while continuing to fight the fire. As health officials announced the death of three people, civil defense authorities could be seen lifting the bodies of two people who lay on the street hours after the explosion.

"Our main objective here has been to safeguard the greatest number of human lives," Joel Santos, minister of the presidency, said during a news conference.

Dominican President Luis Abinader said he dispatched a government team to San Cristobal, adding that officials have been tending to victims and their families from the start.

Pura Casilla, the governor of San Cristobal province, told Noticias SIN that the explosion occurred in a commercial area and greatly affected businesses near the town center.

Firefighters were still battling the blaze late Monday night, and authorities ordered people to clear the area, warning that other buildings could collapse.

Government officials arrived on scene, including legislator Franklin Rodríguez, who told local media he was worried about people's health and safety given the heavy smoke still streaming from several buildings.

"These buildings are very weak," he said.

He added that toll roads leading to San Cristobal were suspended to allow a greater number of ambulances into the area, with dozens of people rushing to nearby hospitals and clinics to search for loved ones. Some cried outside the main hospital as others hugged them for comfort.

Eddy Montás, a local representative, told Noticias SIN that he saw a couple of bodies in the area, in addition to the three deaths that authorities reported.

"We are saddened by what happened today," he said.

San Cristobal, the birthplace of dictator Rafael Trujillo, was the site of another explosion nearly 23 years ago. An arms depot exploded in October 2000, killing at least two people and injured more than two dozen others, forcing authorities to evacuate thousands.
A huge fire, again at a market, in Iran:
Huge fire at Tehran's grand bazaar in Iran causes no casualties

A large fire broke out at the grand bazaar in Iran's capital of Tehran, though it did not cause any casualties, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Tuesday.

"A fire broke out in Ahangaran's Bazaar in Tehran's Grand Bazaar and about 30 warehouses and shops were caught in flames," the spokesperson of Tehran's fire department said.

Firefighters have managed to control the massive fire without any injuries but many financial losses are expected, Tasnim reported.

Actress Rachel Zegler, who plays a Latina Snow White in the "woke" Disney remake of the celebrated classic, trashed the original by saying the key love interest Prince Florian is a creepy stalker with all of that character's scenes a possibility of ending up on the cutting room floor.

Zegler made her Snow White comments in an interview excerpt that was aired again Sunday as she cast doubt on the movie's plot given the original was made in 1937 and claimed Snow White's love interest "literally stalks her," adding "weird, weird... so we didn't do that this time."

Instead she said people can look forward to "a very different approach to what is a love story... because it's not really about a love story at all."

Dozens killed by explosion at gas station in southern Russia

explosion in Makhachkala
An auto-repair shop in Makhachkala - the capital of Russia's southern Dagestan Region - was the scene of a major blast on Monday evening. The explosion also caused a major fire and further powerful blasts at an adjacent fuel station.

The regional emergency service confirmed that at least 27 people died in the incident - including several children - and some 75 others were injured, according to RIA.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown. Several Telegram channels have claimed there were even more casualties, but official sources have not confirmed these figures.

Some parts of America are already on the verge of being ungovernable as rampant lawlessness spreads like wildfire

Westfield Topanga mall
In order for a civilized society to function, most people have to willingly follow the rules of that society. If that happens, law enforcement authorities can deal with the few that choose to be lawless. For generations, that is how things worked in America. There was a high standard of morality among the general population, and so the police were able to successfully handle the few bad apples that insisted on breaking the law. But now everything has changed. As a result of decades of extreme moral decay, lawlessness is rampant and there are vast multitudes of young people that openly flaunt the rules of our society. In fact, there are already some areas of the country that are literally on the verge of being ungovernable.

A perfect example of what I am talking about happened in southern California on Saturday.

Dozens of lawless young thieves systematically looted the Nordstrom store at the Westfield Topanga mall, and they were able to get away with tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise...
Shoppers at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park were in for quite a shock when dozens of thieves ransacked the Nordstrom inside the mall on Saturday, Aug. 12, smashing displays and stealing an estimated $60,000- $100,000 worth of merchandise, authorities said.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the mall at around 4 p.m. after hearing reports that between 20 and 50 people ran through the Nordstrom grabbing merchandise, leaving some on the ground and taking armfuls with them.
When I was growing up, this sort of thing simply did not happen.

Two Princeton, MIT scientists say EPA climate regulations based on a 'hoax'

Physicist, meteorologist testify that the climate agenda is 'disastrous' for America.

Two prominent climate scientists have taken on the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new rules to cut CO2 emissions in electricity generation, arguing in testimony that the regulations "will be disastrous for the country, for no scientifically justifiable reason."

Citing extensive data (pdf) to support their case, William Happer, professor emeritus in physics at Princeton University, and Richard Lindzen, professor emeritus of atmospheric science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), argued that the claims used by the EPA to justify the new regulations are not based on scientific facts but rather political opinions and speculative models that have consistently proven to be wrong.

"The unscientific method of analysis, relying on consensus, peer review, government opinion, models that do not work, cherry-picking data and omitting voluminous contradictory data, is commonly employed in these studies and by the EPA in the Proposed Rule," Mr. Happer and Mr. Lindzen stated. "None of the studies provides scientific knowledge, and thus none provides any scientific support for the Proposed Rule."

Trans lobby Stonewall behind gender policy at 30 NHS trusts - leaving Health Secretary Steve Barclay 'appalled at woke virtue-signalling by health bosses'

Stonewell
Controversial lobbying group Stonewall has helped write sensitive gender policies at as many as 30 NHS trusts - prompting anger from ministers.

The LGBT charity, known for its radical stance on trans rights, suggested 'improvements' to one hospital's guidance, was listed as a 'contributor' to another and 'validated' a third.

It is currently providing 'support' to another trust as it formulates its policy on caring for transgender patients.

Many trusts cited Stonewall, along with the scandal-hit trans youth charity Mermaids, as reputable sources of information. Last night a source close to Health Secretary Steve Barclay said he was 'appalled' that some NHS managers were engaged in 'woke virtue-signalling' by using outside groups to advise on equality issues despite his previous guidance against doing so.

It comes even as Stonewall has seen dozens of public sector bodies, including the Department of Health and Social Care, quit its 'diversity champions' advisory scheme in recent years.

Media giants raise First Amendment concerns over raid on Kansas paper

A police department in Marion, Kansas, was accused Sunday of violating First Amendment protections after officers raided a local paper and the home of its owners.

Driving the news: The Marion County Record's publisher told Axios on Monday that he plans to file a federal lawsuit over the raid, which the paper said contributed to the death of its 98-year-old co-owner Joan Meyer. The raid was widely condemned by major news organizations and journalism advocacy groups.
  • Over 30 major news organizations and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press wrote a letter to the chief of the Marion Police Department Sunday, saying there "appears to be no justification for the breadth and intrusiveness of the search."

Comment: Touching. Now where's all the press freedom concerns for Julian Assange?

Is anyone surprised? Left-wing media doesn't like 'Rich Men North Of Richmond'

media outlets political leaning
© SharylAttkisson.comGuess who doesn't like Oliver Anthony's song?
Leftists across America have been triggered.

That's probably not going to come as a shock to anyone, but the establishment media and woke social media response to Oliver Anthony's gritty coal country ballad 'Rich Men North Of Richmond' is less than enthusiastic. Much like their reaction to Jason Aldean's 'Try That In A Small Town' which blew up the charts in the face of heavy media backlash, 'Rich Men North Of Richmond' is being derided as a "right wing anthem" laced with "conspiracy theories."

'Try That In A Small Town' goes straight for the throat in pointing out the level of anger among rural Americans and conservatives when it comes to the chaos wrought by leftist ideology. The message is bold - "Try that in our neck of the woods, and we'll rain hell down on you." Democrats attacked the song as "thinly veiled racism" hearkening back to the days of southern lynch mobs - But of course, the race baiting tactic is long worn out and no one seems to care about the accusations anymore. And, rather hypocritically, leftists once again reveal their underlying racism by suggesting that a song about rising crime can only be about black people.

Quantity of sea ice in Arctic takes 2 Russian oil tankers by surprise, deliveries delayed

Oil tanker arctic
© Dmitry Lobusov, icebreaker captain for RosatomflotOil tanker NS Arctic sailing in icy waters. The ships that are loaded with more than 200,000 tons of oil might have been surprised by ice pack in the East Siberian Sea.
The Primorsky Prospect and NS Arctic on the 12th and 14th of July respectively set out from St.Petersburg with course for the Chinese ports of Dalian and Rizhao. They were to arrive at destinations by the middle of August.

That schedule is now significantly postponed. Shipping data show that the ships will make it to the Chinese ports no earlier than 26th of August.

Although the tankers both have ice classification Arc3, their voyage across the Laptev Sea and East Siberian Sea have been marred with troubles with the sea-ice.
