A Shia shrine in Iran, which suffered a deadly armed attack less than a year ago, was again targeted in a "terrorist" attack on Sunday, state media reported.

The official IRNA news agency initially reported that four people had been killed in the attack at the Shah Cheragh shrine in the city of Shiraz. The agency later said that four people had been shot, with two eventually succumbing to their injuries.

The semi-official Tasnim news agency said there were two attackers, adding that one of the assailants was detained, while the second perpetrator managed to escape, prompting an ongoing pursuit.

The agency added that two people were killed in the attack.

Dramatic video shows the man, who says his name is Mohammed, calling himself a 'slave of Allah' before challenging other passengers nearby to repeat that they are also 'slaves of Allah'.

He becomes heated, pointing his finger at passengers and shouting at one: 'Say it!'

A 'scared' passenger on the MH122 Airbus-a330 flight from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur said the man 'unzipped his backpack, put his hands in, made barely veiled threats about having something dangerous in it screaming at the top of his lungs right next to my seat'.

Environmentalist misanthropy: Humans are a 'terminal cancer'

street crowd people
Anti-humanism has been part of the environmentalist movement for decades. For example, as far back as the 1970s, Canadian green radical David Suzuki denigrated humans as "maggots" that walk around "defecating on the planet." When offered a chance to take that back in an interview ten years ago, Suzuki refused. Even the staid David Attenborough proclaimed us to be "a plague on the earth."

This deep misanthropy continues to spread. Now, a new book — Homo Ecophagus — argues that we are a "cancer" that will make ourselves extinct. From an interview of the author Dr. Warren Hern, in Slate:
It's not an analogy; nobody ever died from an analogy. It's a diagnosis, and that's different. The diagnosis is the same as the hypothesis. . . . This hypothesis [humans as a cancer] explains what we see going on in reality around us — and has for a long time — and it predicts what is going to happen. And that means the prognosis, in medical terms, for cancer is death. The cancer continues until the host organism dies.

The difference between us and a cancer — the only difference — is we can think, and we can decide not to be a cancer. If the diagnosis is correct, things will continue until we are extinct. The biosphere can't go extinct; it can't die, but we can alter it to the point that we can no longer survive. And that will take out millions of other organisms.

Comment: As the meme says: "You are the carbon they want to reduce." Take warning.

Let it be noted that despite his dim view of the human race, David Suzuki has fathered five children. By today's western standards, that's a veritable horde. And Wikipedia reports Suzuki was once criticized by the National Post for owning multiple homes "because he often preaches the virtues of minimalism".

So much for all the virtue signalling.

A Canadian man is calling electric vehicles the "biggest scam of modern times" after his frustrating experience with an electric truck.

Dalbir Bala, who lives in the Winnipeg area, bought a Ford F-150 Lightning EV in January for $115,000 Canadian dollars (around $85,000 U.S. dollars), plus tax. Ford said the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) on the vehicle is $77,495 U.S. dollars.

He told FOX Business he needed the vehicle for his work, but also wanted something suitable for recreational activities such as driving to his cabin or going fishing. He also wanted an environmentally friendly vehicle as owning one is "responsible citizenship these days."

Oliver Anthony Sticks it to the Man - and Rolling Stone can't stand it

OAnthony
© UnknownOliver Anthony 'Rich men north of Richmond'
The sudden viral success of country singer Oliver Anthony is a rare feel-good story in the culture war. Or at least it was, until Rolling Stone decided to roll all over it with their craven woke filth.

In case you've missed it, Oliver Anthony was an unknown musician until his track 'Rich Men North of Richmond' went viral this week on Twitter, having been boosted by prominent American conservatives who related to the song's lyrics about government authoritarianism, excessive taxes, Epstein's island, and obese people on welfare ("If you're 5-foot-3 and you're 300 pounds/ Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds").

From being a struggling strummer with a day job in a factory, Anthony now has 160,000 followers and counting, and an offer of a studio album to be produced by country star John Rich.

The song is in the great American tradition of self-reliance that, while not partisan, is inherently conservative. Furthermore, since the Left currently hold the levers of power, the targets of censorship and corruption can't help but seem like threats to the Democrat regime.

But it is also just a great song.

The arc of reform

Tonight, the New College of Florida board of trustees voted to direct the administration to abolish the university's gender studies program, becoming the first public university in America to begin rolling back the encroachment of gender ideology and queer theory on its academic offerings.

The decision, sure to elicit a fierce response from left-wing critics, is part of a broader transformation. In January, Florida governor Ron DeSantis appointed me and a number of other reformers to the New College board of trustees. He tasked us with a challenging mission: to revive classical liberal education and restore the founding mission of the college, which had been established with an appeal to New College at the University of Oxford.

From the beginning, we knew that this assignment would involve more than a "rebranding" campaign; it would require an overhaul of the structure of the college and its programs. In our first months as a board, we initiated significant changes to the central administration, firing the president, replacing the provost, abolishing the DEI department, and hiring political veteran Richard Corcoran as our interim president. We got pushback — student protests, media condemnation, a disapproving visit from California governor Gavin Newsom — but we patiently continued the work, deliberating over questions of governance and making hard choices about the college's future.

France and other former colonial powers must accept a shift in power on the continent, a former Nigerian official has told RT...

The political situation in Niger should teach France and other Western countries, including the US and UK, that Africa cannot be taken for granted, a former Nigerian foreign affairs officer, Iliyasu Gadu, told RT on Thursday.

According to Gadu, a wind of change leading to a decline in western hegemony is "blowing across French-speaking Africa and West Africa" and must be accepted by Paris and other former colonizers.

Last month, Niger's presidential guard detained President Mohamed Bazoum and seized power, prompting anti-French protests from thousands of people who supported the move.

The new military government accused France on Wednesday of violating its airspace and releasing dangerous terrorists. The coup leaders previously accused the former colonial power of plotting a strike to free Bazoum.

China overtakes Greece as world's No.1 maritime fleet owner due to 'strong manufacturing, trade and finance'

China has overtaken Greece as the world's largest maritime fleet owner in terms of gross tonnage (GT), global shipping information provider Clarksons Research said on Saturday.

Greece held that position for a decade, but China's position as the world's manufacturing hub, its resilient cargo trade and strong financial support for the shipping sector propelled it to the head of the industry, analysts said.

The latest rankings from Clarksons Research showed that the Chinese-owned fleet stands at 249.2 million GT. Greece was second with 249 million GT and Japan third with 181 million GT.

Comment: Whilst China has only just overtaken Greece, considering the rapidly deteriorating state of the EU, there's no reason to believe that Greece will be taking its title back anytime soon; if ever: Sanctions cost European companies €100 billion in direct losses from their Russia operations

Canadian newspaper has MELTDOWN over conservatives fighting pedophilia

sound of freedom globe and mail
The Canadian newspaper, The Globe and Mail, pushed out an opinion piece covering conservatives' disdain for pedophilia. The piece called the attitude "dangerous."

The article is critical of passionate viewers who went to go see the anti-trafficking film, Sound of Freedom, like other corporate outlets have been. It also quotes another article from Slate that is critical of the movie, which says its "noisiest right-wing supporters" are pushing QAnon conspiracy theories.

The article claims that Jim Caviezel, the main actor playing Tim Ballard, is one of the worst culprits of spreading QAnon conspiracies. Some examples given are "adrenochrome" as well as that "powerful, international figures" in the world that are "kidnapping little boys and girls."

Comment: Perhaps predictably, the Twitter post of the Globe and Mail article is getting ratio'd to hell.
