A teenage couple have been charged with crimes linked to child neglect after their 15-day-old baby girl was discovered with up to 100 rat bites leaving her skull exposed.

The newborn baby needed facial reconstruction surgery after she was left with a hole in her forehead when the rodents attacked her entire body at a home in Magnolia, Arkansas.

Her parents Erica Shyrock, 19, and her 18-year-old boyfriend, Charles Elliott, were arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

The baby girl weighed just 5lbs when she was taken to the Magnolia Regional Medical Center on Sunday (14 May) after being bitten 75 to 100 times by rats.

Police in Arkansas were called after the bites were discovered on her arms, fingers, hands and face including an inch-long cut on her forehead.

The mayor of Tulln in Lower Austria has announced the town will stop accepting refugees and asylum seekers. The ban comes after a sexual assault on a teenage girl, allegedly carried out by refugees.

The ban was announced in Tulln earlier this week, with the mayor having informed senior authorities in the region that his town refuses to accept any refugees or asylum seekers "until further notice," local media reported.

"We have zero tolerance against criminal asylum seekers who abuse the rights while being guests. In view of what these criminals have done to the girl, the full severity of the law is demanded," Mayor Peter Eisenschenk said in a statement, as cited by Heute News.

Study: Journalists' brains show a lower level of executive function due to lifestyle

Drunk journos
A recent scientific study just proved something that viewers of CNN have probably suspected for years: Journalists' brains function at a lower level than the rest of the population.

A study conducted by neuroscientist Tara Swift and the London Press Club determined that "the highest functions of journalists brains were operating at a lower level than the average population, due to dehydration, self-medicating, and fueling their brains with caffeine and high-sugar foods"

However, the pressures of the job are not affecting journalists ability to endure and bounce back from adversity in the long term, due to a belief that their work has meaning," according to a press release from the London Press Club.

New parents would receive six weeks of paid leave, under a new initiative in President Donald Trump's proposed budget. New details released by the White House also show the "first step" in his promised $1 trillion infrastructure plan.

The budget will call for funds to create a program that would grant mothers and fathers six weeks of paid leave after the birth or adoption of a child, two senior White House officials told reporters on Thursday on condition of anonymity to describe a program that has not yet been formally proposed. The details of the program still must be negotiated with Congress, including how it will be funded, although states would be required to run their own programs.

"The states would have a big stake in it," said one of the White House officials. "They could help design the program."

Chris Cornell
On Thursday, rock fans worldwide were shocked and saddened to hear that the legendary Soundgarden singer, Chris Cornell, had killed himself.

"Chris's death is a loss that escapes words and has created an emptiness in my heart that will never be filled. As everyone who knew him commented, Chris was a devoted father and husband. He was my best friend," Cornell's wife, Vicky Cornell wrote following the death of her husband.

According to authorities, Chris Cornell died by hanging himself in his MGM Grand Detroit hotel room after a concert at the Fox Theatre.

But, why, many are asking, would a man who was worshiped by his fans, had a beautiful family, and successful career, take his own life. Well, his wife and family attorney have come forward with a potential reason.

Chris Cornell was taking Ativan, a psychoactive drug in the Benzodiazepines class.

The hacking group known as 'The Shadow Brokers' is pushing a monthly subscription service offering members top secret information including "compromised network data" from the nuclear and ballistic missile programs of Russia, China, North Korea and Iran.

As a reminder, we have noted in the past, many security experts believe the Equation Group is the National Security Agency, and that the Shadow Brokers may be part of a psychological operations campaign run by Russian intelligence.
Shadow Brokers first emerged last August, offering to auction hacking exploits it said were used by the NSA's elite hacking team known as Equation Group (officially named Tailored Access Operations). NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and others confirmed the leak was authentic.

In December, Shadow Brokers cancelled its auction and offered to sell the exploits.

In April, the group released passwords to the rest of the hacking exploits in a move described as a protest against President Donald Trump for abandoning his base.

The release included a Windows SMB [Server Message Block] exploit, EternalBlue, which was leveraged in the recent WannaCry global ransomware attack.

In its Tuesday blog post, the group expressed its surprise that governments or tech companies didn't bid in its past auctions

Comment: The "Russian Intelligence" connection is just some security expert's belief, no proof.
