Canadian special forces conducted flights over Ottawa protest despite military directive

Canadian special forces operated an aircraft equipped with surveillance equipment over protests in downtown Ottawa despite a military directive that was supposed to prohibit such activities.

The Jan. 27 directive stipulated that Canadian Forces vehicles and personnel were to avoid the Ottawa protest and Royal Canadian Air Force planes were not to fly over the "Freedom Convoy" demonstration.

But Canadian special forces leaders reasoned they didn't have to follow the military directive since the surveillance plane they were using was owned by a private defence contractor. National Defence spokesman Dan Le Bouthillier confirmed:
"The amplifications provided by the RCAF through this directive did not apply to these training activities, which were contracted outside of the RCAF,"

Comment: Not only was the surveillance illegal, they lied about it. (SOP)

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, whose purchase of Twitter remains ongoing, slammed President Biden in a podcast interview Monday and warned that if the government continues printing money, inflation will get worse and the U.S. might follow the path of Venezuela.

Musk, who said he has voted "overwhelmingly for Democrats," slammed the Democratic Party and Biden in particular. He suggested that Biden is something of an empty suit.

"The real president is whoever controls the teleprompter," the Tesla CEO said. "The path to power is the path to the teleprompter."

"I do feel like if somebody were to accidentally lean on the teleprompter, it's going to be like Anchorman," the CEO added, referencing the 2004 film in which Ron Burgundy reads whatever is written on the teleprompter, even if it would ruin his career.

The execution of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by an Israeli soldier in the Palestinian city of Jenin, along with Israel's immediate efforts to muddy the waters about who was responsible and the feeble expressions of concern from western capitals, brought memories flooding back from 20 years of reporting from the region.

Unlike Abu Akleh, I found myself far less often on the front lines in the occupied territories. I was not a war correspondent, and when I ended up close to the action it was invariably by accident - such as when, also in Jenin, my Palestinian taxi turned into a street only to find ourselves staring down the barrel of an Israeli tank. Judging by the speed and skill with which my driver navigated in reverse, it was not his first time dealing with that kind of roadblock.

Abu Akleh reported on far too many killings of Palestinians not to have known the risks she faced as a journalist every time she donned a flak jacket. It was a kind of nerve I did not share.

Woke school counsellor arrested for grooming and sexually abusing 15-year-old student

Zobella Brazil Vinik, a former guidance counsellor at Tucson High Magnet School in Tucson Arizona, has now been arrested and charged in connection with a relationship she allegedly had with a 15-year-old student.

Vinik had previously led a group at the school that put on a drag show. Arrests for sexual assaults such as these on students are becoming more and more common throughout the US.

According to Blaze, "On May 5, the school district put Vinik on administrative leave and initiated its own investigation. On the same day, Vinik resigned from her counselor position and is no longer an employee of the Tucson Unified School District."

She then on May 11 decided to turn herself in to authorities, at which time she was arrested and charged with sexual conduct with a minor.

Bank of England warns of 'apocalyptic' global food shortages

The Governor of the Bank of England has warned of "apocalyptic" global food price rises and said he is "helpless" in the face of surging inflation as the economy is battered by the war in Ukraine.

Andrew Bailey said he has "run out of horsemen" when counting the shocks facing Britain, with runaway energy and food costs driven by global market forces beyond his control.

Prices are rising at the fastest rate in 30 years, creating a "very big income shock" that is expected to intensify in coming months with a risk of double-digit inflation before the end of the year.

Comment: The cause of food shortages are multifactorial and include incompetent and/or psychopathic individuals in power, natural disasters, covid lockdowns, and earth changes. As Michael Snyder writes:
This particular shortage [sunflower oil] is directly related to the war in Ukraine, and David Einhorn is warning that this war is making a whole host of our ongoing problems even worse...
The common refrain about COVID was that it sped up changes and trends that were already happening. We believe the same is true of the war. Inflation, supply chain problems, and shortages of energy, food, raw materials and labor were already issues that the war has now accelerated.

In May, a group called Accountable Tech, which calls itself a "small nonprofit taking on Big Tech companies," organized a corporate boycott to protest Elon Musk's bid to buy Twitter. In the midwest, a group called Opportunity Wisconsin, which bills itself as a "coalition of Wisconsin residents," ran a deluge of TV ads slamming Republican senator Ron Johnson for his tax policies. And in Arizona, an organization of "grassroots racial justice" activists called Just Democracy released a video blasting Democratic senator Kyrsten Sinema for failing to support the Biden administration's legislative agenda.

None of these groups actually exist. They are all registered trade names for the North Fund, a shape-shifting nonprofit group that uses aliases to push an array of left-wing causes from a shell office in Washington, D.C., according to corporate records.

Political watchdogs say the fund, which isn't required to disclose the donors behind its $66 million budget, is gearing up to be one of the most consequential dark-money players of the midterm elections. And while "astroturf" groups are nothing new in politics, critics say the North Fund is part of a new breed — moving away from specific policy advocacy and delving into electoral politics.

A prominent trans activist who was highly praised by liberal media outlets and institutions is now facing 16 felony charges for the alleged sexual abuse of a minor following a sextortion investigation.

Carlos Arturo Aparicio Hernandez, 36, of Taylorsville, Utah, a biological male who identifies as a woman named "Raiza", is accused of the sexual abuse and exploitation of a 15-year-old boy after sending the victim a friend request on Facebook posing as a teenage girl.

According to charging documents, the 15-year-old victim accepted a friend request on Facebook in January of 2021 from someone he was led to believe was a female his own age. After communicating for months, the victim sent nude photos at the request of Hernandez and was later asked to meet in-person, court documents state.

Comment: It's amazing how many of these woke activists turn out to be child sexual predators. Must be a coincidence.

Romanian broadcaster TVR has accused the European Broadcasting Union of assigning a different set of scores to the ones they provided, incorrectly giving the highest score to Ukraine, which went on to win the competition.

The Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra easily won the competition, finishing on 631 points, with the United Kingdom in second place with 466 points.

However, despite the margin of victory, the official Romanian Eurovision representatives complained that the EBU ignored their vote to give Moldova first place and instead awarded it to Ukraine.

A Wisconsin middle school is charging three boys with sexual harassment for calling a classmate the "incorrect pronouns."

The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) wrote a letter to Kiel Area School District administrators urging them to drop the Title IX complaint and investigation against the eighth graders.

Comment: What does the school hope to achieve with this stunt? Locking up eighth graders? Even if this was a case of bullying (and it's not clear that it was), since when do bullies face criminal charges for calling people names?

Church shooting in Southern California
A church in Southern California was the target of a mass shooting Sunday afternoon with initial reports of four wounded, one person killed and a suspect in custody. According to photos of emergency response vehicles at the scene and a block location given by police, the shooting appears to have taken place at the Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods.

UPDATES AT END. Shooting took place during a meeting by the Irvine Taiwanese Presbyterian Church that shares space with the Geneva church. Suspect is reported to be a "68-year-old Asian man."

Statements by the Orange County Sheriff's Office posted to Twitter:

"#OCSDPIO Deputies are responding to reports of a shooting at a church on the 24000 block of El Toro Road in Laguna Woods. Multiple victims have been shot. More details to follow, PIO en route...We have detained one person and have recovered a weapon that may be involved...We are working to get information out as quickly as possible. We ask for patience as this event unfolds."
