Biden previously described Eric Schwerin, a top exec at his firm, as his father's 'close confidant and counsel'

Following Devon Archer's bombshell congressional interview last week alleging President Biden's deep involvement with Hunter Biden's business dealings, a new light is being cast on his son's longtime business partner who stands to know even more.

Eric Schwerin visited the Obama White House and then-Vice President Biden's residence at least 36 times between 2009 and 2016, likely to make him the next target of the House Oversight Committee's investigation into the Biden family's business dealings.

Schwerin was the founding partner and managing director of Hunter's now-dissolved firm Rosemont Seneca Partners when he was appointed by then-President Obama to the Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad, an independent U.S. government agency, in early 2015.

"Eric asked for one of these the day after the election in 2008," Hunter revealed about Schwerin's appointment in an email on March 13, 2015.

Republican rep says Biden admin is pulling 'accounting scam' to fund Ukraine

With funding for weapons shipments exhausted, the White House claims that it can keep arms shipments flowing thanks to an "accounting error"

US President Joe Biden is "pulling an accounting scam to send more money to Ukraine," Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed on Tuesday. One day earlier, US officials said that the next aid package for Kiev would be financed from a $6.2 billion windfall discovered months previously.

The Pentagon announced in May that its accountants had overvalued previous arms shipments to Kiev to the tune of $6.2 billion, and that this money could "go back into the pot" and be used to finance future weapons transfers from US stockpiles. Crucially for the Biden administration, this "error" was discovered before the last tranche of military and economic aid money authorized by Congress for Ukraine - worth $48 billion - ran out this month.

Comment: Ukraine has become America's biggest foreign aid sinkhole since WW2:
The United States has committed in excess of $60 billion in aid to Ukraine since the beginning of Moscow's military operation last year, according to the Washington Post.

A recent analysis has shown that various US aid packages to Kiev have included $43 billion in direct military aid, making it the US' biggest investment in a country since World War II, according to the paper.

"These are off-the-charts numbers," Michael O'Hanlon of the think tank Brookings Institution told the WP.

He added that Washington's financial assistance to Ukraine could only be historically compared to the Marshall Plan - a US foreign aid package issued to Western Europe after the end of World War II. Adjusted for inflation, that initiative funded war recovery efforts to the tune of around $150 billion over three years.

The paper notes that Washington's aid to Ukraine vastly surpasses the financial support issued to some of the US' more traditional foreign partners, such as Israel, which was sent $8.6 billion in 2022 and 2023, and the $6.2 billion that was sent to Egypt and Jordan combined during the same period. It also significantly eclipses US financial support for Taiwan.

The US Department of Defense has an annual budget of $1.77 trillion, according to government data.

Some signs have shown that public support in the US for continued military assistance is weakening as the conflict enters its 18th month. Research in June found that 44% of Republicans or right-leaning independents believed that Joe Biden's administration was spending too much on Ukraine aid.

However, O'Hanlon pointed out that the US could continue to fund Ukraine indefinitely. "We could do it forever," he said. "It's not economically unsustainable. But it's probably politically unsustainable."

Easy, when you own the printing press.

Moscow has frequently cited Western support for Ukraine as a primary factor in prolonging the conflict. Anatoly Antonov, Russia's ambassador to the US, responded to a renewed military package from the US to Ukraine last month by saying it is "beyond morality and common sense." He claimed that while Washington seeks to portray itself as Kiev's "selfless benefactor," in practice it only strives for "more human suffering and deaths."

Russian officials have repeatedly warned that shipments of heavy weapons and other military aid to Ukraine make NATO members de facto direct participants in Moscow's conflict with Kiev. Moscow also insisted that Western support would not change the course of the outcome.

Wagner boss expresses 'joy' over Victoria Nuland

The mere mention of the Wagner PMC has caused the US to consider recognizing the new government in Niger, Evgeny Prigozhin has said...

Wagner chief Evgeny Prigozhin says he is proud of the members of his private military company as simply mentioning their name can compel Washington to reassess its positions. Acting US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland recently urged Niger's new military government not to enlist the help of the Russian contractors.

Speaking to journalists over the phone on Tuesday, Prigozhin was asked to comment on Nuland's personal visit to Niger and her advice to the new government not to strike any deals with Wagner.
"I am proud of the boys from Wagner. Just the thought of them makes ISIS and Al Qaeda small, obedient, silky boys. And the US has recognized a government that it did not recognize yesterday just to avoid meeting the Wagner PMC in the country. This brings joy, Mrs. Nuland."
One of the members of the new military government in Niger, Gen. Salifou Moody, reportedly sought the assistance of Wagner to help safeguard their power. The coup leaders are currently facing an approaching deadline to either return ousted president Mohamed Bazoum to power or face a possible military intervention by neighboring states.

Comment: Where Nuland meddles, chaos follows:
Speaking to reporters during a special briefing on Monday, Nuland revealed that she met with the military government's defense chief Moussa Barmou and three other senior commanders. She described the negotiations as "extremely frank and at times quite difficult."

Last month, the presidential guard detained Nigerian President Mohamed Bazoum and his family, sparking international condemnation. The coup also triggered pushback from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which threatened military action against Niger's plotters unless they reinstate Bazoum. The new government has refused to back down.

Nuland also said that she urged the coup leaders to hear our offer to try to work with them to solve this diplomatically and return to constitutional order.
"I got the sense in my meetings today that the people who have taken this action here understand very well the risks to their sovereignty when Wagner is invited in."

Iran boosts navy with missiles, drones as US offers guards for Gulf ships

Iran has equipped its Revolutionary Guards' navy with drones and 1,000-km (600-mile) range missiles, Iranian news agencies reported on Saturday, as the US offers to put guards on commercial ships going through the Gulf's Strait of Hormuz.

Referring to the possible presence of US guards, Iranian armed forces spokesperson Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said the region's countries were capable of ensuring Gulf security themselves.

"What do the Gulf, the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean have to do with America? What is your business being here?" Shekarchi said by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

State news agency IRNA said the Revolutionary Guards' weapons include "various types of drones ... and several hundred cruise and ballistic missiles with a range of 300 to 1,000km are among the systems and equipment that were added to the capabilities of the Guards' navy today."

Earlier this week, Washington said it could soon offer to put armed sailors and Marines on commercial ships in the region following Iran's seizure and harassment of vessels. Last month, it said it would send additional F35 and F16 fighter jets, along with a warship to the Middle East, to monitor waterways.

Comment: Action and reaction ensures escalation. The United States is determined to oblige:
IRGC commander Hossein Salami said that Iran viewed the US presence as an opportunity to boost the country's army production capacity.

Hundreds of new strategic systems, equipment and weapons were delivered to the armed forces in a ceremony attended by Revolutionary Guard Corps General Comd. Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami and senior military officials.

The weapons and equipment were manufactured by the Ministry of Defence and affiliated entities, including missile launch ramps, radar systems and hundreds of cruise and ballistic missiles.

Salami said:
"The enemy's presence has transformed into an opportunity for us. This has allowed us to capitalise on opportunities, boost the growth rate of our defence and military power production by breaking the chain of threats and dangers."
Tanker seizures crisis

The US seized Iranian tankers carrying crude oil due to unilateral sanctions and attempts to auction the oil.

In response, Iran intervened with tankers around the Persian Gulf, citing maritime regulation non-compliance.

In late April, the US Navy seized the Suez Rajan tanker carrying 800,000 barrels of oil in southern African waters, towing it to the American state of Texas.

In retaliation, Iran seized the Advantage Sweet tanker on April 27 operated by Chevron in the Gulf of Oman. Tehran said it violated "international maritime rules" by colliding with an Iranian ship and fleeing.

On May 3, Iran seized the Panama-flagged Niovi oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz.

US forces announced on June 5 that the Iranian navy fired at two oil tankers near the Gulf of Oman, including at the Richmond Voyager, in an attempt to seize them, but those efforts were thwarted. Iran, however, revealed that a court order was issued to seize the Bahamas-flagged Richmond Voyager oil tanker operated by Chevron in the Persian Gulf, as it collided with an Iranian ship and fled.

Judges halt Biden rule offering student debt relief for those alleging colleges misled them

biden
© Susan Walsh/APUS President Joe Biden
A federal appeals court on Monday halted a rule from President Biden's administration that could make it easier to obtain student loan debt relief for borrowers who say they were victims of misleading information about the quality of education they would receive.

At issue is a rule broadening existing policy ending the debt of students who borrowed money to attend colleges and universities that are determined to have misled them on matters such as whether their courses would actually prepare them for employment in their field or the likely salary they would earn upon obtaining a degree.

Career Colleges and Schools of Texas, an association of for-profit higher learning institutions, filed a lawsuit against the rule in February. Among its complaints was that the rules are so broad that they cover even unintentional actions by a college. They also said the rule unconstitutionally gives an executive branch agency, the Department of Education, what amounts to the power of a court in deciding whether to grant claims for debt relief.

Comment: As victims of this administration, do we get a reprieve on taxes if we determine the President misled us on the quality and intent of his leadership?

Judge dismisses Trump's defamation counterclaim against E. Jean Carroll

A federal judge on Monday dismissed former President Donald Trump's counterclaim against writer E. Jean Carroll, who scored a $5 million verdict against him in May in a defamation lawsuit.

In June, Trump sued Carroll, a former Elle magazine columnist, for defamation after she said, "Oh yes, he did; oh yes, he did," when asked on CNN about a jury's findings that he had not raped her but was liable for sexual assault.

Carroll's rape accusations were "substantially true," even if a federal jury stopped short of that explicit finding, according to the 24-page order by Judge Lewis Kaplan, an appointee of President Bill Clinton. He added that Trump had not proven Carroll's statements to CNN were false.

Kaplan, in a separate order from last week, also allowed Carroll's lawyers to give the Manhattan District Attorney's Office deposition materials that include a videotape and transcript from the former president last fall.

That order greatly increases the possibility that the former president's sworn testimony in Carroll's case can be used against him as part of the district attorney's pending criminal prosecution.

Niger coup leaders rebuff diplomatic overtures from AU, ECOWAS

niger Tchiani
Abdourahamane Tchiani
Niger's military government has rejected the latest diplomatic mission from African countries aimed at restoring constitutional order after a July 26 coup, resisting pressure from the United States and United Nations to come to the negotiating table.

The African Union (AU) planned to send a joint mission with representatives of the UN and the West African bloc ECOWAS to Niger on Tuesday, but it was denied permission by the military government, which has closed Niger's airspace, the French magazine Jeune Afrique reported.

Leaders of ECOWAS, or the Economic Community of West African States, are preparing for a summit on Thursday to discuss the standoff with Niger's coup generals, who defied a Sunday deadline to reinstate overthrown President Mohamed Bazoum.

The referral relates to Fauci's previous testimony on the coronavirus and its potential origins from a Chinese lab with Paul suggesting Fauci lied under oath. He is pictured in November '22.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul is recommending the top prosecutor in Washington, D.C., pursue an investigation and possible criminal charges against Dr. Anthony Fauci for allegedly lying under oath about COVID-19 origins.

Paul sent a letter to D.C. U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves Tuesday, demanding an investigation into Fauci for allegedly committing perjury during a congressional hearing in 2021 when he said that COVID did not come from a Chinese lab.

'Dr. Fauci testified that 'the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.' In a subsequent hearing, I warned Dr. Fauci of the criminal implications of lying to Congress and offered him an opportunity to recant his previous statements,' writes Paul in the letter exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com.

France's military attacked Niger's National Guard, violated airspace, released terrorists, say coup leaders

Niger Protestors

On July 26, Niger's presidential guard ousted and detained President Mohamed Bazoum. The guard's commander, Gen. Abdourahmane Tchiani, proclaimed himself interim leader and the president of the caretaker National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland.

French military attacked national guard and entered Niger's airspace, the coup leaders have stated.

As a result, the country's current authorities have ordered to increase threat level.

In addition, the Niger's military accused France of 'freeing terrorists'.

Comment: It's likely that France has done all of that, and that it intends to do more. However, whilst ECOWAS along with their masters in the West scheme as to how to bring Niger to heel, Niger and at least 3 of its avowed allies in the region have responded by saying that an attack on Niger will be considered an attack on them:
