Pro-Israel Washington Post reporter smears The Grayzone as holocaust deniers in ADL-affiliated hit piece

WaPoGz
Elizabeth Dwoskin, Reporter for The Washington Post
In a falsehood-filled attack, the Washington Post's ardently pro-Israel Elizabeth Dwoskin attacked The Grayzone's factual reporting with "research" from a spook-infested outfit closely tied to the Anti-Defamation League.

Dwoskin also relied on an Israeli special forces vet heading a "Digital Iron Dome" campaign to censor social media criticism of Israel's assault on Gaza.

On January 21, The Washington Post published an article purporting to expose a terrifying and "spreading" phenomenon: so-called "Oct. 7 truther' groups" who "say [the] Hamas massacre was a false flag." Unable to name those "truther groups," the piece's author, Elizabeth "Lizza" Dwoskin, cobbled together a random assortment of comments by 4chan and Reddit users to create the sense that antisemitic conspiracism was not only sweeping the internet, but taking over city councils across the country.

The piece took direct aim at The Grayzone, maliciously associating our factual reporting on friendly fire orders which led to many Israeli deaths on October 7 with Holocaust denial.

The Post's Dwoskin went on to falsely claim that "articles on... Grayzone [sic] exaggerated" reports that Israelis were killed by the Israeli army "to suggest that most Israeli deaths were caused by friendly fire, not Hamas." Yet no one associated with The Grayzone has ever claimed that "most" Israelis who died on October 7 were killed by the Israeli army, nor has it published any material suggesting October 7 was a "false flag."

The author of the Post's shoddily-sourced smear job, Elizabeth Dwoskin, is an ideologically committed Zionist who once referred to Palestinians as "desert Bedouins without a sense of national identity as we know it today."

EU and NATO heading for the abyss over foreign policy foibles

Lying Ursula
© Social Media
A number of odd statements have been coming from the EU in recent days, coupled with some even odder skulduggery giving rise to thought that the entire project is having its 'last days of the Roman Empire moment'. Is it possible that the EU that we know is on its last legs and what we are witnessing is the final demise?

Ursula von der Leyen, whose grandparents were probably Wafen SS officers has said that if she doesn't get her way in finding new money for Ukraine she will have to resort to dirty tricks. Well, she didn't actually say "dirty tricks" but this is what is implied. And what might those underhand moves might be? In fact, there is already a motion in the EU corridors to make Hungary effectively a non-EU member state, a sort of rogue member which is still in the EU but has no voting rights. Given that the EU is anything but a democracy and that the institutions in Brussels are monolithic and consensus-driven (there is no 'opposition' in Brussels like in most democratic countries) it is hardly surprising to see nefarious activities which would make an African dictator proud of his handy work. The EU, or rather the super federalist elite which run it in Brussels like von der Leyen and her mates as Pfizer - yes, multinational corporations really wield the most power in Brussels and more or less own the European Parliament - are getting worried. The project is starting to indulge in in-fighting and creating a lot of mixed message in the media. Gardner-in-chief Josep Borrell wants a new shiny state for the Palestinians but Ursula is perfectly happy with the present genocide program. Perhaps she sees in investment opportunities in offshore gas off the coast of Gaza?

And so with the economy in the doldrums and the EUs most powerful member state Germany looking more and more like the Czech Republic in the late 90s, the uber elites like Ursula and the most vile MEP the European Parliament ever had - Guy Verhofstadt - are worried that the project can be hijacked by far-right MEPs come the next euro election in the summer. Ironically, in such a scenario where the European parliament's main majority bloc would be a far-right group, the support for Netanyahu would peak and even save him from falling into his own quagmire of corruption charges, as the far-right in Europe support the Zionists, shifting from the once popular idea of wiping them out under Hitler's 'final solution' plan.

Best of the Web: Houthis hit US warship off Yemen coast forcing convoy of Navy & cargo ships to retreat

Yemen's Houthi group yesterday announced that it had hit an American warship and forced two commercial ships to retreat in the Gulf of Aden and the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.

In a televised statement, Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said: "In support against the oppression of the Palestinian people, and as part of the response to the American-British aggression against our country, we clashed with a number of American destroyers and warships in the Gulf of Aden and the Bab Al-Mandab Strait."

"The clash took place while the ships were providing protection for two American commercial ships, and it lasted more than two hours," he added.

Comment: Some reports allege those ships were carrying US weaponry. That might explain why the US has been rather quiet about the incident; not only because they're embarrassed.

Comment: The X post below provides insight into what this may reveal about the state of the West's preparedness, and ability to maintain its destabilisation project:

CENTCOM admits that one of the Houthis' tactical ballistic missiles - undemanding targets as far as such things go - got through the Gravely's interceptors. What they neglected to mention was that it struck about a hundred meters from the Maersk Detroit, and that after the attack the convoy aborted the transit and retreated back into the Arabian Sea rather than press on into enemy fire.

[...]

Was this operational plan inadequate? Almost certainly - reading between the lines, it reeks of a complacent assumption that Houthi missile batteries had actually been suppressed by a few rounds of air raids and that a single AEGIS destroyer could handle anything the Houthis could throw at them with no need for additional contingency planning. In the event neither of these assumptions were correct - and because of it a convoy covered by one of the US Navy's premier warships retreated from a battle that was going badly.
The retreat is confirmed by legacy media outlet, The Guardian:
Houthi missile attack forces cargo ships with US navy escort to turn around

[...]
Maersk said in a statement: "En route, both ships reported seeing explosions close by and the US navy accompaniment also intercepted multiple projectiles. The crew, ship and cargo are safe and unharmed. The US navy has turned both ships around and is escorting them back to the Gulf of Aden."

Maersk said its US subsidiary was now suspending Red Sea transits. "The safety of our crews is of utmost importance. Following the escalation of risk, MLL [Maersk Line Limited] is suspending transits in the region until further notice" the spokesperson said.

Both commercial vessels carry cargo for the US government and are enrolled in programs run by the defence department to transport forces, supplies and equipment during times of war or national emergency, which is why they were escorted through the strait.

Centcom also reported that on Tuesday night it had launched two pre-emptive strikes designed to stop imminent Houthi attacks. Previous attacks last Friday underlined the current inability of the US and UK to neutralise the Houthis despite multiple attacks on their missile sites.

The UK defence secretary, Grant Shapps, told MPs that risks to global navigation continued, with shipping costs rising by as much as 300%.

Indeed this is in part due to the blockade - which only targets Israel, but now also US and UK ships - however, note that logistics in general was collapsing even before Israel escalated its genocide: Record number of British haulage businesses going bust

"Our military strikes did not cause any civilian casualties," Shapps said.

That remains to be seen, but analysis suggests that these strikes may be lacking in sufficient intelligence to be having much impact at all on Houthi operations.

The attacks on the Houthis were backed by the influential chair of the UK's foreign affairs select committee, Alicia Kearns, who said it was ahistorical to regard the Houthis as anti-colonial freedom fighters.

The Houthis defending their country against the years-long Saudi-US war demonstrates that they are indeed anti-colonial freedom fighters.

Houthi forces in Yemen have written to the UN demanding that all UK and US staff leave the country within a month on the basis that their governments are mounting assaults on Yemen. The warning also appeared to apply to NGOs working in the capital, Sana'a. In addition, it was reported that the Houthis had prevented a UN plane from landing in the strategically important town of Marib on Wednesday.

[...]

The Houthi foreign ministry letter to the UN stated: "The ministry ... would like to stress that you must inform officials and workers with US and British citizenships to prepare to leave the country within 30 days." It was sent to the UN's acting humanitarian coordinator in Yemen, Peter Hawkins.

The letter also ordered foreign organisations not to hire American and British citizens for Yemen's operations.

The US embassy said in a statement that it was aware of reports about the letter but "cannot speak on behalf of the UN or humanitarian organisations in Yemen as to what they may have received from Houthi 'authorities'".

The British embassy said staff had not yet been told to leave and the mission was in close contact with the UN on the issue.

"The UN provide vital assistance to the Yemeni people ... via the very sea routes that the Houthis are jeopardising," the British mission in Yemen said in a statement.

This vital assistance failed to get to the Houthis when the West's war on the country created, what the UN itself called the 'world's worst humanitarian crisis', with hundreds of thousands of Yemenis suffering starvation.

The UK's Middle East minister called for the UN to be allowed to get on with the job.

Ahmed bin Mubarak, the foreign minister of the UN-recognised Aden-based government, also claimed Houthi militia had earlier in the week threatened to target a Sudanese civilian plane transporting stranded Yemenis from Port Sudan to Mokha airport.

He made the claim in a meeting with the UN's Yemen envoy, Hans Grundberg, to illustrate the impossibility of dealing with the Houthis, who resisted a concerted Saudi-led air campaign after capturing Sana'a and forcing the western-backed former president to flee in 2015.

In April 2022 a ceasefire between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition prompted a decline in violence, and fighting has largely remained in abeyance despite the official expiry of the truce in October.

Which demonstrates how, unlike the West and Israel, the Houthis keep to their word. Journalist Pepe Escobar recently reported that Saudi Arabia and the Houthis wished to further their commitment to peace, however the West blocked such an agreement.

Bin Mubarak stressed the need for the international community to reconsider dealing seriously with the Houthi militias, remarks indicating that the UN-backed government wants to see the internal peace process frozen because of the Houthis' behaviour.

Grundberg also met the Saudi and UAE ambassadors to Yemen, and the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the UN security council.

He stressed the need to maintain "a favourable environment for the continuation of dialogue in Yemen, and the importance of continuing concerted regional and international support for peace efforts".

Saudi Arabia is not an enthusiastic supporter of the western strikes on the Houthis because it fears they will destabilise peace talks.
And, today, ABC reports that the Houthis continue their blockade of the Red Sea, undeterred:
Yemen Houthi rebels fire a missile at a US warship

Yemen's Houthi rebels launched a missile Friday at a U.S. warship patrolling the Gulf of Aden, forcing it to shoot down the projectile, the U.S. military said Friday.

The attack on the destroyer USS Carney marks a further escalation in the biggest confrontation at sea the U.S. Navy has seen in the Middle East in decades. It represents the first time the Houthis directly targeted a U.S. warship since the rebels began their attacks on shipping in October, a U.S. official said on the condition of anonymity because no authorization had been given to discuss the incident.

As we read above, this is not the first time the Houthis have directly targeted a US warship.

That contradicted a statement by the U.S. military's Central Command, which said the Houthis fired "toward" the Carney. As it has in previous strikes, the Pentagon has said it was difficult to determine what exactly the Houthis were trying to hit.

Hilarious!

Ever since the Israel-Hamas war broke out, the U.S. has tried to temper its descriptions of the strikes targeting its bases and warships to try to prevent the conflict from becoming a wider regional war.

Acknowledging Friday's assault as a direct attack on a U.S. warship is important, said Brad Bowman, a senior director at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.

"They're now finally calling a spade a spade, and saying that, yeah, they're trying to attack our forces, they're trying to kill us," Bowman said.

Tempering the language, while aimed at preventing a wider war, has had the opposite effect of further enabling the Houthis, he said.

In Friday's attack, an anti-ship ballistic missile came near the USS Carney, an Arleigh-Burke class destroyer that's been involved in American operations to try and stop the Houthi campaign since November, Central Command said.

"The missile was successfully shot down by USS Carney," Central Command said. "There were no injuries or damage reported."

It's now clear that the US is obscuring the damage, and deaths, it is is incurring: US Navy Seals 'missing' in Red Sea declared dead, Yemen's Ansarallah imply their strike against warship was responsible

Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree did not acknowledge the Carney attack, but claimed a missile attack on a commercial vessel that set it ablaze.

The U.S. Navy's top Mideast commander told the AP on Monday that the Houthi attacks were the worst since the so-called Tanker War of the 1980s. It culminated in a one-day naval battle between Washington and Tehran, and also saw the U.S. Navy accidentally shoot down an Iranian passenger jet, killing 290 people in 1988.

400 US citizens killed fighting in Ukraine war — former Pentagon official

Col. Douglas Macgregor
FILE: Col. Douglas Macgregor: Some 400 US citizens killed in hostilities in Ukraine — former Pentagon official "We know that at least 400 Americans have died whether they are contractors or in uniform. Our administration won't say this," he said
At least 400 US citizens have been killed during the conflict in Ukraine, Col. (Ret.) Douglas Macgregor, a former adviser to the defense secretary in the administration of former US President Donald Trump, has said.

"We know that at least 400 Americans have died whether they are contractors or in uniform. Our administration won't say this," he wrote on the X social network.

The press service of the Russian Investigative Committee told TASS in May 2023 that more than 2,000 mercenaries from 71 countries, including 234 US citizens, were fighting against Russian forces in the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine.

Comment: This follows reports from Russia that up to 60 French mercenaries were recently killed by its forces in Ukraine, including its own soldiers, such as the son of a French general.

There's even reason to believe that the curious behaviour of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is also a consequence of a visit he recently made to Ukraine; documented here.

'I dare you to put it on TV': Crowd erupts as Tucker challenges Canadian government mouthpiece CBC to interview him

Tucker Carlson canada tour

A crowd in Canada erupted as Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson challenged a corporate media outlet to interview him Wednesday.

Carlson concluded his sold-out speech in Alberta, Canada, to applause from the audience after he dared the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) to speak to him backstage and air it on television. The two-stop tour is one of many international events Carlson has conducted among speculations that he may serve as GOP frontrunner Donald Trump's running mate.

"Wait, can I say one last thing? You said CBC is in the room," Carlson said as the crowd began to boo at the mention of the outlet. "I would love to do an interview with CBC. Meet me backstage. I dare you to put it on TV."

Comment: Tucker Carlson is fast becoming a (inter)national treasure. He gave voice to the millions of voiceless in the U.S., and now Canada.

Belgorod plane attack: Why did Ukraine shoot down an aircraft carrying dozens of its own soldiers?

ukraine prisoners of war shot down
© CENBelgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said everyone on board had died
Kiev is now only fighting to prolong the life of Zelensky's regime, that's why it's doing stupid things

On Wednesday, an Il-76 transport plane was downed in Russian airspace. It was reportedly carrying 65 Ukrainian POWs scheduled for a prisoner swap, escorted by three Russian military guards, as well as six crew members. All on board were killed. It seems the aircraft was destroyed by missiles launched from a US-supplied Patriot system.

The incident prompts a critical question: What were the Ukrainian soldiers doing so far from their homeland that air transportation was necessary? The answer is simple: The POWs were initially held in the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, but then came a Ukrainian HIMARS attack on a prisoner camp in Olenovka near Volnovakha on July 29, 2022, killing 53 people. This seems to have been the reason for the transfer, aiming to distance the POWs from high-tech precision weapons systems provided to Kiev by NATO.

Today, we can say with absolute certainty that this did not help. Ukraine has once again shown the world just how dangerous it can be for its own citizens.

Michelle, Ma Belle

"What a train wreck it is for the democrats! What an unholy mess! It is an unmitigated disaster, the sinking of the Titanic multiplied by that plane crash where the soccer players ate each other." — Jeff Childers on the Fani Willis case.
Michelle Obama
© kunstler.com
As Donald Trump consolidates his election mojo — defying the forces arrayed to destroy him — and more of the country turns against the creepy apparition in the White House purportedly running against him, you hear evermore chatter that a panicked Democratic Party will insert Michelle Obama in a last-minute convention switcheroo next August.

The explications I hear in the chat media all sound lame one way or another. For starters, how pathetically weak is the party that such a walking fiasco as "Joe Biden" is allowed to even pretend that he can run this race? His campaign is an obvious sham, a place-holder in hopes that one or another of the half-assed lawfare court cases against Mr. Trump might knock him off the game-board — and that's not looking so great now since Fulton County DA Fani Willis screwed the pooch in her giant RICO action and Special Counsel Jack Smith is getting smacked around week after week on esoteric points of procedure.

Well, all right, considering the party has really got no one else. Gavin Newsom is a California train wreck, despite the fabulous teeth and hair, Oprah can't seem to make up her mind, and Taylor Swift will not be old enough to qualify for the office until December. The leading plan for the Dems goes like this: "JB" is offered a deal. . .step aside for Michelle to run in August. . . "JB" can make whatever face-saving excuses necessary, health, low energy, whatever. . . but he can serve out his term to the bitter end, and then sometime before noon January 20, 2025, he can pardon himself, son Hunter, brothers Jim and Frank, and a few other family members implicated in money-laundering all the bribes they scared-up over the years.

NATO a 'walking war machine' - China

Wu Qian
Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian
NATO is a "walking war machine" that has been spreading chaos across Asia since its formation, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian told reporters on Thursday, accusing the bloc of using the specter of a dominant Beijing to foment regional conflict.

Wu appeared to be referencing comments made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during the World Economic Forum last week, in which the bloc's leader attempted to frame its buildout in Asia as a response to purported Chinese aggression.

"It should be said that NATO is a walking 'war machine,' and wherever it appears, it brings disorder everywhere," Wu said, referencing "inappropriate statements by the NATO Secretary General regarding China."

"This is not about NATO moving into Asia, but instead about the fact that China is coming close to us," Stoltenberg told attendees at the exclusive Davos gathering, insisting the US-led alliance remains "regional" in its focus.

Wu cautioned NATO against deliberate provocations, urging the bloc to treat China and its military development "objectively and rationally, and do something beneficial to world peace," according to Xinhua.

Comment: NATO is a war alliance with the aim of preserving the US hegemonic status and to protect US commercial, political and military interests.

Biden Set To Announce New LNG Export Ban After White House Met With Gen-Z Climate Warrior

US LNG carrier
Global warming warriors in the White House plan to announce a new strategy later today: freeze new export permits for liquified natural gas (LNG) until the Department of Energy (DoE) can figure out climate impacts.

In a statement released on the White House briefing website, President Biden said early Friday:
My Administration is announcing today a Bidentemporary pause on pending decisions of Liquefied Natural Gas exports - with the exception of unanticipated and immediate national security emergencies.
During this period, we will take a hard look at the impacts of LNG exports on energy costs, America's energy security, and our environment. This pause on new LNG approvals sees the climate crisis for what it is: the existential threat of our time.
Biden (or maybe his speech writers) justified the new strategy by hyping climate doom, indicating, "In every corner of the country and the world, people are suffering the devastating toll of climate change."

Comment: Europe will once again get to realise that the US is not a reliable partner and that they have dished the most reliable partner they had, Russia. Moving forward, Europe could find themselves with a great shortage of gas unless they patch up relations with Russia. The current crop of European 'leaders' are unlikely to be the ones to make such a change.

Comment: This move will only accelerate the de-industrialisation of Europe which is well underway.

Belgorod plane attack: Kiev deliberately shot down plane carrying its POWs, Moscow says

Belgorod Crash site

74 people, including 65 Ukrainian service members, were killed in the crash in Belgorod Region

Kiev's forces knowingly downed a Russian plane carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war that crashed on Wednesday, killing all on board, in order to pin the attack on Moscow, the Defense Ministry has said, adding that Kiev had once again shown its "true colors".

In a statement following the incident, the ministry revealed that a Russian IL-76 cargo plane had crashed in Belgorod Region, claiming the lives of 65 Ukrainian POWs, as well as six crew members and three Russian soldiers.

The Defense Ministry claimed that the "Kiev regime committed a terrorist act" by targeting the plane, which was transporting POWs for a further prisoner exchange, from the Chkalovsky military airbase near Moscow to Belgorod.

Ukrainskaya Pravda, a Ukrainian newspaper, initially reported that the plane had indeed been downed by the country's military, but edited its article on the incident shortly afterwards to remove this information.

The newspaper celebrated the downing as a success for the country's "victorious armed forces," Lavrov told the press conference. However, once it became known that the plane was carrying POWs, "the Ukrainian propaganda started to sweep it under the carpet...and find other explanations."

Moscow is still working to ascertain Kiev's motives, he said.

Ukraine 'considers us meat' - POW killed in Belgorod crash
One of the Ukrainian prisoners who died on Wednesday had spoken to RT in 2022 about why he surrendered. Konstantin Danilchenko was on the plane shot down by Ukrainian missiles over Russia's Belgorod Region, with no survivors.
[...]
RT found Danilchenko's name on the passenger manifest of the doomed flight, at number 11. It sounded familiar because of a 2022 video published by the Russian Defense Ministry, in which the recently captured Ukrainian soldier spoke about his reasons for surrendering.

"I wanted to live," Danilchenko said in the video. "We are considered 'meat', and everyone understands why our leadership is so cold towards us."

[...]

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that Ukraine had been informed about the transport of the prisoners by air, accusing Kiev of shooting down the plane with their citizens on purpose in a "terrorist act."

Ukrainian media initially reported that a plane resupplying missiles to Russian troops targeting Kharkov had been shot down. Those reports were quietly deleted when it emerged that the IL-76 was transporting Ukrainian prisoners. The General Staff in Kiev issued a statement calling Russian transport flights a legitimate target because of attacks on Kharkov, but did not address the fate of the POWs.

Ukraine killed POWs with American missile - French state media
Ukrainian forces used a US-supplied Patriot missile to shoot down a Russian cargo plane carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war, French state broadcaster Radio France reported on Wednesday, citing a source in the country's military.
[...]
Radio France's source did not provide any additional information, but the claim backs up an earlier assertion by a senior Russian MP that "Patriot or Iris-T air defense missiles" were used to bring the aircraft down.

The defense ministry stated that the missiles were launched from the Liptsy suburb of Kharkov, around 100km from the site of the crash. Both the American Patriot and German Iris-T systems are capable of engaging targets from this range, and the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces said on Wednesday that it regularly uses such systems to target Russian military flights in the area, without explicitly admitting that it shot down the Il-76.
[...]

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has not admitted that his forces were responsible for the downing of the plane. In a statement on Wednesday, he called for an "international investigation" to determine "all the hard facts" surrounding the incident.

The closest step to an admission of guilt came from Ukraine's military intelligence agency, the GUR. In a statement on Wednesday night, the agency claimed that it "was not informed about the need to ensure the safety of the airspace" over the border, and that it did not know how the prisoners would be transported.

The White House has not commented on the alleged use of Patriot missiles in the incident. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said on Wednesday that the US was "not in a position to confirm" any reports on the attack, and was working to "get more clarity and more information on it."
The meeting at the UN Security Council has since taken place. Reading the minutes from the meeting shows many speakers brushed off the downing of the plane by blaming Russia for the conflict.

SC/1557225 JANUARY 2024 United Nations Not in Position to Verify Reports as Moscow, Kyiv Separately Investigate 24 January Russian Military Plane Crash, Political Chief Tells Security Council
Both sides are conducting separate investigations into the downing of a Russian military aircraft in the Belgorod region on 24 January 2023, the United Nations senior political official told the Security Council today, as numerous delegates underscored that the incident occurred in the context of Moscow's war of aggression.

"The United Nations is not in a position to verify [the] reports or the circumstances of the crash," said Rosemary A. DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs. According to Moscow, the plane was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war, six Russian crew members and three Russian military personnel. According to Kyiv, the plane may have been carrying missiles for the Russian Federation military system.
