NATO's renewed fear mongering over "Russian threat" to undersea cables is cover to monitor and subvert Chinese trade routes

The renewed fear mongering campaign in the media about a supposed "Russian threat" to the world's undersea cables is really just a cover for expanding the US and NATO's naval presence all along the Afro-Eurasian coastland in order to monitor China's maritime Silk Road trade routes and enter into a future position for subverting them.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, the chief of the UK's defense staff and thus the country's highest-ranking military figure, called for NATO to protect the world's crisscrossing undersea cable system from what he claimed is an ever-present 'Russian threat'. The scenario of Russian submarines destroying some of the delicate infrastructure on the ocean floor has periodically come up before, but this time the scenario is being revived with a previously unseen vigor. Officials have pointed to the dependency of our 21st century civilization on modern-day communication technologies to warn the public about just how destabilizing of an event it would be if these systems were disrupted, drawing attention to the mind-boggling fact that 97% of global communications and roughly $10 trillion in daily financial transactions are transmitted through these cables.

Comment: As usual, blame Russia. But check out this admission, buried in the Guardian's coverage of the report Peach cited:
Despite the warnings from Peach and Sunak, the Russian ships could just be engaged in tapping into the cables to intercept communication to gather intelligence - as the Americans and British have long done - rather than an attempt to cut or disrupt communications.
What's that now?

It is expected that the new Prime Ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic will not change their stance on migration during their first European Union (EU) summit in Brussels today.

Poland's new Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, said earlier that his country "has the right to refuse whether to accept migrants or not". Andrej Babis, his colleague of the Czech Republic, stated last week that his country "doesn't want refugees".

Ex-CIA officer Ray McGovern: Nikki Haley dancing to Netanyahu's tune in beating drums of war vs. Iran

The US envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley, was dancing to Israel's tune by calling for a Western coalition against Iran while posing in front of the wreckage of a missile, former CIA officer Ray McGovern told RT, saying the spectacle was aimed at distracting attention from Yemen.

"I think that Netanyahu is calling the shots. Look, Jerusalem has just been recognized as the capital of Israel, Nikki Haley is getting on this bandwagon. She sees this as being very propitious for her, politically," McGovern said.

Describing Haley as "frightfully ambitious," McGovern argued that if US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had given her some guidance on the issue, he has not been very effective, as the US ambassador to the UN seems to be "following the kind of talking points that are originating not only in Washington, or in New York, but in Tel Aviv."

The supposed proof provided by Haley of Iran's alleged violation of the UN resolutions pales when compared to the scope of violations committed by US-backed Saudi Arabia, Iran's archrival, McGovern said.

Moscow and Cairo have signed an agreement to construct Egypt's first nuclear plant. The project will cost $21 billion and is due to be finished by 2028-2029.

The preliminary agreement between the countries was signed in 2015. A loan from Russia would cover 85 percent of the construction costs, and Russia's Rosatom would service the plant's four reactors for 60 years, company chairman Aleksey Likhachyov said on Monday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is visiting Egypt on Monday and meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

China has voiced its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

A spokesperson for the foreign ministry made the statement during a regular press briefing, Thursday, while addressing questions on a declaration by Muslim nations asserting East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) made the announcement at a summit in Istanbul, Wednesday, and condemned the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

"China understands the Islamic countries' concern about the status of Jerusalem," spokesperson Lu Kang said, according to Xinhua state media, adding that it is calling for a "resolution to the issue in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and international consensus."

The end of the free web? FCC votes three to two to repeal net neutrality regulations

internet neutrality
The five-member Federal Communications Commission has voted three to two to repeal net neutrality regulations.

The three men who cast their votes in favor of repeal were Republicans Ajit Pai, Brendan Carr, and Michael O'Rielly. You did not elect any of these men. Prior to today you might not have even known the names of two of them. And yet they have made a decision that could potentially have a massive impact on your life and the lives of all Americans.

I do my best to listen to as many different arguments across the political spectrum on important subjects like this one as I can, and in my opinion there are some substantial arguments being made in favor of the repeal that have yet to be decisively debunked. If you think there are no legitimate arguments against your position on this issue, it's because you live in an echo chamber.

That said, I remain strongly opposed to the repeal for one simple reason: the vast majority of Americans oppose it. A recent poll from the University of Maryland's Program for Public Consultation found that 83 percent of Americans favor existing net neutrality regulations, including 75 percent of Republicans. Even if you don't like that poll I've yet to see a single survey that doesn't make it abundantly clear that this repeal is something the overwhelming majority of Americans do not want, and yet three unelected bureaucrats are ramrodding it down their throats anyway.

Comment: So are the days of an open free web numbered? With net neutrality regulations out of the way, the big ISPs are free to do as they please. That means they will be able to control which websites get priority on the web, or even hosted on the web at all. The big giants that can afford to play along will get priority. You will only be allowed to see the content they want you to see, and knowing how 'deep' the Deep State has it's fingers in all major news and social media outlets, will only be tailored to keep you ignorant and unawares. You can bet that those sites that don't agree with the mainstream course will be the first to be 'censored' under the new rules.

However, those changes won't come overnight, and there's still a chance it won't make it through Congress. However, if it does come into full effect, will there be any recourse? Maybe. Perhaps it will be the spark that sets of the era of Web 3.0, one that is free from corporate control and regulation.

Ramp up the fear: ISIS threatens attacks in US over Trump recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel

Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) has threatened attacks in the United States in retaliation for Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, according to one of the terrorist group's social media accounts.

The message was relayed on an account on the Telegram instant message service. In that message, IS said it would carry out operations in the US, showing photos of New York's Times Square and what appeared to be an explosive belt and detonator.

Calling the US president a "dog," the message promised a response to that decision by "recognizing explosives" as the capital of the United States, Reuters reported.

Jewish nationalist group awards Trump 'Friends of Zion Award' at White House

trump netanyahu
While President Donald Trump has often referred to himself a "friend of Israel," he has now been officially recognized for that stance by a pro-Zionist group that advocates for Jewish nationalism.

On Monday, the Friends of Zion Museum presented President Trump with its Friends of Zion Award at the White House.

"No president in history has ever built such an alliance for the State of Israel and the Jewish people, and no president has courageously stood up for the State of Israel on the global stage as you had Mr. President," declared Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Friends of Zion Museum. "President Trump's historic recognition of Jerusalem will secure his place in history as the first American president to take that step since the founding of the State of Israel in 1948."

"We believe no American president in history has done more to defend the Jewish people in the United Nations," Evans added.

The Friends of Zion Museum is located in Jerusalem and works to push the Israeli agenda while attempting to legitimize the taking of Palestinian lands.

Judicial Watch today released new U.S. Department of State documents showing former Secretary Hillary Clinton and her then-Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin were permitted to remove electronic and physical records under a claim they were "personal" materials and "unclassified, non-record materials," including files of Clinton's calls and schedules, which were not to be made public. The documents show the Obama State Department records would not be "released to the general public under FOIA."

The new records also show that Huma Abedin was allowed to take five boxes of "physical files" out of the State Department that include records described as "Muslim Engagement Documents."
