mmmmmmmm
A celestial object, strongly suspected to be a meteor, streaked rapidly across the skies of Java, triggering a loud boom on Saturday (July 11, 2026) at approximately 21:30 WIB. This astronomical phenomenon caused a stir among residents across multiple provinces, spanning West Java, Central Java, and Yogyakarta.

A brilliant blue-green flash of light was observed cutting across the night sky, stretching from the Bogor and Ciamis areas to the western horizon of Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, residents in the Cirebon area reportedly heard a thunderous explosion loud enough to rattle the windowpanes of their homes.

The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), together with relevant astronomical monitoring stations, is still gathering data to determine the size and impact point of the space rock. The public is advised to remain calm, as such giant fireball phenomena typically burn up completely in the atmosphere before reaching the ground.

Daryono, the former Director of the BMKG's Earthquake and Tsunami Center, confirmed visual reports regarding the falling fireball—which had a visible tail—via his personal social media account.

"An astronomical phenomenon involving a 'falling' meteor in the skies over Java. This falling meteor appeared as a fireball with a blue-green tail—July 11, 2026, at approximately 21:30 WIB," wrote Daryono.

He is currently investigating a possible link between the flash of light and reports from residents along the north coast of West Java regarding the sound of a mysterious explosion.

"At what time was the booming sound heard in Cirebon? Who knows, there might be a connection?" added Daryono.

In Ciamis Regency, a resident of Cijeungjing District named Narti witnessed the movement of the brilliant light coming from the north while she was in her yard.

"I was about to hang out laundry in the yard. Suddenly, there was a blue-green flash of light in the sky. It looked like a falling meteor," said Narti.

He admitted to being very surprised, as this rare moment was a first-time experience for him.

"I was startled because it was the first time I had ever seen something like that. The light was incredibly bright, but it lasted only for a moment," he said.

The flash of light occurred so quickly that he did not have time to capture the event with his mobile phone camera.

"I was so mesmerized by the light that I completely forgot to take a picture of it," he said.

In the Cirebon area, public alarm was largely driven by a mysterious booming sound clearly heard in the Perumnas neighborhood (Harjamukti District) and the Pagongan area.

"About 20 minutes ago, people in Perumnas reportedly heard a booming sound," said Handi.

The intensity of the sound was also felt by residents in other parts of Cirebon City.

"It was audible here, too. But I have no idea what the sound was," said Vina.

Reports from residents on Radar Cirebon's social media channels also confirmed similar vibrations and sounds reaching the regency area.

"There are reports of a loud boom felt in the Sedong District area just now; does anyone have any information on this?" a resident asked.

Other netizens mentioned seeing a flash of light heading toward the sea just before the sound was heard.

"It looked like a star or a meteor for a split second. I didn't manage to record it, though. Location: Cirebon City. Did anyone else see it?" another resident asked.
