SOTT Focus: NewsReal: The Skripal Saga: Why Context is Everything

newsreal skripal novichok russian agents
Two Russian 'GRU' agents have been exposed as the perpetrators in the attempted murder-by-chemical-weapon of Sergei and Yulia Skripal. Their own story doesn't add up, but their movements are also inconsistent with the claims against them, and they appeared on TV (like no real active intelligence agent ever does).

Missing, as always, from the mainstream narrative of the 'Skripal Saga' is all-important context: Why Russia, why chemical weapons, why now, and why, in a world of 'full-spectrum' surveillance possibilities - not least complete retrospective psychographic profiles of anyone even remotely connected with civilization - can they not give us a straight story about what happened?

If you're happy to 'pick a side' and root for it in this debate, then don't watch this show. If, however, unlike most people on the planet - and virtually all Western politicians (elected and unelected) - you're interested in getting as close to the truth of this matter as possible, then, by all means, have a listen as Joe & Niall do their best cutting through the lies and innuendo to reveal what this game is all about.

Former Spanish PM Zapatero: US-led sanctions reason for Venezuelan migration

Zapatero

Former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said Saturday that the surge in Venezuelan migration is directly linked to the Canadian, European Union and the United States led economic and financial sanctions against the South American country.

"Like it always happens with economic sanctions that produce a financial blockade, who pays is not the government but the citizens, the people," Zapatero told EFE in an interview after participating in a forum in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

U.S.-aligned nations and organizations have attributed what they call a "migratory crisis" to the Venezuelan government and president Nicolas Maduro, who they accuse of strangling the economy and holding on to "dictatorial" power.

The government, which was re-elected by a wide margin in May, has argued the economic crisis that is pushing Venezuelans responds are a series of hostile economic and financial actions that have hampered the government's ability to buy essential goods, like medicine and food, and that have effectively strangled the country's finances by seizing their resources.

Erdogan: Turkey will cooperate with Russia on eliminating terrorists in Idlib, Syria

Turkey is ready to cooperate with Russia on the fight against terrorist groups in the Syrian northwestern province of Idlib, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said ahead of his upcoming talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"If the situation in Idlib continues as is, the results will be heavy. We have to find a solution with Russia and the coalition forces without letting this happen. As you know, the US has a different position, however, we have previously held meetings with Germany and France. We are already in it together with Russia," Erdogan said on Sunday, as quoted by Daily Sabah, a Turkish newspaper.

Erdogan stated that he had noticed Putin's positive approach toward the resolution of the conflict during the trilateral summit held between the leaders of Iran, Russia and Turkey in the Iranian capital of Tehran on September 7.

"I hope he [Putin] will continue the positive stance also going forward," Erdogan stressed, adding that he considered it necessary to eliminate terrorists, but not the moderate opposition, which is also operating in Idlib.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif accused the social media giant Twitter on Sunday of biased policy toward Iranian social media activity.

In particular, the Iranian Foreign Minister said that Twitter was shutting down accounts of real Iranians, while ignoring anti-government accounts he claims are backed by the United States.

Earlier, Iranian media outlets accused Israel, Saudi Arabia and exiled opposition groups, including the Mujahideen Khalq which has members based in Albania, of being behind social media campaigns calling for the overthrow of the regime in the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has accused Washington and Tel Aviv of waging a full-scale media war to discourage simple Iranians, as the country faces intense economic and political pressure after US withdrawal from Iranian JCPOA nuclear deal.

It's 'open season' on all Russians

Petrov Boshirov

The ordeal imposed on Russian citizens traveling or sojourning in Western states shows that hysterical Russophobia and official paranoia is out of control. It's "open season" to criminalize all Russians.

The cases of Maria Butina detained in the US, and that of Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, the two men who traveled to Salisbury in England, are illustrative of a totally irrational anti-Russian mindset that has run amok.

All have been accused of being Russian agents. Butina is facing five years in an American jail if she is convicted of spying. Her lawyer maintains she broke no laws while in the US. The only thing she seems "guilty" of is networking with various social and political groups - and of being Russian.

The two men mentioned, fortunately, made it back to Russia before British authorities incarcerated them too on false charges.

Petrov and Boshirov have been charged in absentia by British police in connection with the apparent poison-attack on a former Russian spy living in Salisbury. The British government accused the two men of being assassins belonging to Russian military intelligence, GRU. The basis for accusation is the pair were filmed by public CCTV cameras being in Salisbury town on the weekend that ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter were allegedly poisoned with a nerve agent.

Palestinian President Abbas: Israel, biased US working against peace - US revokes visas of Palestinian envoy's family after mission shutdown

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says Israel is working against peace and security by killing and displacing Palestinians and building settlements on occupied land with the support of the "biased" United States.

"Killing, expanding settlement[s], destruction, and the uprooting of the Palestinian population will not bring peace or security," President Abbas said in a meeting with former Israeli left-wing lawmakers on Sunday, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
"This (Israeli) government's policies and the biased US decisions contradict the international resolutions and are harming the chances of making just peace based on the two-state solution along 1967 borders," the president said.

Trump to send "Presidential Alert" to every cell phone in America on Thursday

Trump emergency alert
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on September 20th.

The emergency communications drill will begin at 2:18 p.m. EDT through 2:20 p.m. EDT. Every cell phone in the US will receive a text message from President Trump.

FEMA
All US wireless firms and more than 100 mobile carriers are participating in the exercise that allows for presidential alerts, FEMA wrote in a Thursday press release.

"The EAS [Emergency Alert System] is a national public warning system that provides the president with the communications capability to address the nation during a national emergency," FEMA said in a statement.

Comment: Being that the Emergency Alert System is hackable and prone to spoof alerts like this one, one wonders if any message coming from the President would really be him. And then there's always operator error.

Rogue nuclear-armed Israel working hard to make sure 'enemies' don't have advanced weapons to defend themselves

Šta radi Netanyahu ovih dana? Ništa novo, ponovo prijeti Siriji zbog Irana
Israel is taking every effort on a regular basis to prevent its opponents from acquiring advanced weaponry, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.

The statement comes a day after a Syrian military source told Sputnik that the Arab republic's air defenses had repelled Israel's missile attack targeting the area close to Damascus International Airport.

Shortly after the report, a spokeswoman for the Israeli army declined the Sputnik request for comments, which is the country's established practice.

Comment: Unprecedented 'transparency', from the only 'democracy' in the Middle East.

"Israel is constantly working to prevent our enemies from arming themselves with advanced weaponry. Our red lines are as sharp as ever and our determination to enforce them is stronger than ever," Netanyahu said in the run-up to the weekly cabinet meeting, as quoted by his press service.

Comment: Just look at Israel's 'enemies', the Palestinians. Israel has made sure they only have stones and fireworks with which to fight. But even then, they regularly use such primitive weapons as the excuse to murder children, medics, journalists... At least Netanyahu is clear about his overall, demonic worldview:
The weak crumble, are slaughtered and are erased from history while the strong, for good or for ill, survive. The strong are respected, and alliances are made with the strong, and in the end peace is made with the strong...

But our enemies know very well what Israel is capable of doing. They are familiar with our policy. Whoever tries to hurt us - we hurt them
Perhaps he drew inspiration from another famous adherent of the same worldview, who said:
The whole of nature is a mighty struggle between strength and weakness, an eternal victory of the strong over the weak.

Judicial Watch files complaint against New Jersey Dem Cory Booker for ethics violation

cory booker
Cory Booker
The conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch has filed an ethics complaint against New Jersey Democrat Senator Cory Booker.

Last week, Booker violated rules of the U.S. Senate during confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Booker admitted his wrongdoing because he was trying to look like a hero for leftists. He said at the time that he would accept the consequences for doing so. Well, here you go Senator Spartacus.

Comment: One does not simply become a New Jersey politician. You have to be a special kind of corrupt to gain that dishonor. See: See also:

Nobel Peace Prize winner Mairead Maguire warns that demonizing Russia brings us to brink of catastrophe

Nobel laureate Mairead Maguire
Nobel laureate Mairead Maguire
The scapegoating of Russia, which is actively promoted by the West, is "inexcusable" as it pushes the world back into the Cold War era and puts it on the brink of a disaster, Nobel Peace Prize winner Mairead Maguire has warned.

Russia has become the latest victim of the blame game hysteria, which the US and its western allies engage in to justify their ever-increasing military spending, Maguire wrote in an opinion piece. "All armies must have an enemy to deem them necessary," she said, adding that people "must be convinced that there is need for action to safeguard the freedom of their country."

What also apparently drives the Western elites mad is the prospect of losing their perceived superiority and global hegemony in the view of the new rising powers such as Russia and China, the peace activist said. "Do we honestly believe that the Western allies are going to give up their power? My suggestion is: not easily," Maguire wrote.

Comment: The sad thing is that they've already lost these things. They just don't want to accept it and are lashing out in denial.

"The old dying empires will fight tooth and nail to protect their financial interests such as the petrol dollar and the many benefits that come through their power over poverty-stricken countries," she warned.

"The demonization of Russia is, I believe, one of the most dangerous things that is happening in our world today," Maguire said as she denounced the "scapegoating of Russia" as an "inexcusable game" while saying the amount of propaganda spread by the western media is literally "a throwback to the Cold War era." She also called on people to wake up to the real results of the West's self-declared fight for freedom, which left millions in despair but greatly benefited the elites that "financially gained from war."
