Israel 'accidentally' murders family of 8 in Gaza in raid on alleged Islamic Jihad commander

The Israeli Defense Force is investigating whether it killed eight innocent Palestinian family members, including five children, while targeting a militant leader in Gaza. It insists the building they lived in was thought empty.

Israel bombed a family home in Deir al-Balah in the early hours of Thursday morning, killing Rasmi Abu Malhous, his wife, his brother's wife, and five of their children. While the IDF claimed Abu Malhous was an Islamic Jihad rocket squadron commander and acknowledged he was the target of the strike, the family's neighbors say the photo the IDF published of Abu Malhous is a different man than the one killed in the strike - an apparent tragic case of mistaken identity.


Comment: Israel is a rogue state, a lawless nation when it comes to its treatment of Palestinians and Israeli Arabs. Its leaders are murderers. They do not understand fundamental human morality, or even basic legal concepts. "Well, we thought he was an IJ commander" is not a legal argument or justification for murder for normal people.


"We undertake great intelligence and operational efforts not to harm non-combatants over the course of thwarting terror activities," the IDF said in a statement on Thursday, adding that it is investigating the "claim" that innocent civilians were harmed during the strike in central Gaza in the early hours of the day. Military sources told Israeli news outlet Haaretz that the strike had targeted "infrastructure," insisting they were unaware anyone was inside the building and that Islamic Jihad commanders often hide "ammunition and military infrastructure" in their homes.


Comment: That's called a lie. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, the IDF simply lies.

India is in a dense fog of burning coal smog. And most of the rest of the world is just sick and tired of America running the show. Africa still deals with colonialism. Latin America is still a coup d'état away from more misery. Somebody stop me before I start writing another book!

Right in the middle of all this sandpaper rubbing humanity sits the United Nations. The collective watering hole where the beasts of the geopolitical Serengeti come to drink, the UN reminds me of a Rudyard Kipling story gone wrong. Just turn the Jungle Book upside down and shake it, and the sweet intentions of a man-cub story end up like the most ghoulish episode of The Walking Dead TV series. In other words, don't be surprised to hear of the UN General Assembly breaking down and eating one another. We just get along THAT badly.

To make matters even worse, smack dab in the middle of the UN assembly hall there sits a great big elephant nobody knows how to deal with. NATO is a snarly-lip, tusk prodding, smelly, rogue of an animal so fearsome a fart from the heavy beast is enough to smother Russia or anybody else in the room.

Or, was this always just a story like those long-winded Rudyard Kipling ones?

The global oil market could be entering unchartered waters in the coming weeks. After the US shale revolution, which threatened OPEC's hold on and the stability of the market, a new danger is lurking around the corner.

The Aramco IPO, the largest IPO in history, will not only impact OPEC but will also have repercussions for the Kingdom, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the entire GCC region.

Most analysts have pointed out that there are some major issues with the company's financials, its valuation and possible returns for the Kingdom. International banks are presenting their own IPO valuations, indicating a wide range of price targets, leaving a lot of room for speculation. At the same time, Aramco's IPO prospectus indicates some threats which seem not to have been included in most analyses, such as the impact of flattening oil demand growth, potential legal repercussions if listed on Western stock exchanges and the potential lack of interest from US and European institutional investors.

One of the best side effects of the Trump presidency has been the hostility of the so-called "deep state" or "intelligence community" directed at the president.

This, in turn, has led many Americans to realize that America's powerful, un-elected secret police agencies serve an agenda all their own, and that they choose sides in political controversies. Consequently, polls show one's views of the CIA and the FBI depend largely on one's ideological bent. Polls from Fox News and NBC news in recent years show that as various government bureaucracies have ratcheted up their hostility to Trump, more Democrats and Hillary Clinton voters have said they trust the CIA and the FBI.

Why the president and this deep state should be at odds has never been obvious to casual observers. Last month, however, in an article titled "Trump's War on the 'Deep State' Turns Against Him," the New York Times at last explained that there is indeed very real enmity between Trump and agencies such as the CIA and the FBI. The Times contends that Trump "went to war with the professional staff" of the intelligence agencies and the State Department.

The Times notes Trump has condemned "deep state bureaucrats," and claims Trump's "hostility toward government was strong from the start. He blamed the leak of the so-called Steele dossier of unverified allegations against him on intelligence agencies and never trusted their conclusion that Russia intervened in the 2016 election on his behalf."

Trump was right to be defensive, of course. But that controversy over Russia was never really about what the Russians were up to. The focus was always largely about how much Trump colluded with the Russians to win the 2016 election.

Ultimately, the evidence was so non-existent, that after a nearly-three-year investigation, Robert Mueller was unable to establish evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russians. As Glenn Greenwald has noted: "not a single American — whether with the Trump campaign or otherwise — was charged or indicted on the core question of whether there was any conspiracy or coordination with Russia over the election."

Assad likens 'suicide' of White Helmets founder to Epstein & other high-profile mystery deaths

Syrian President Bashar Assad has scorned the official story of wealthy sex predator Jeffrey Epstein's apparent suicide, suggesting that people like him, or the late White Helmets founder, knew too much for the rich and powerful.

Epstein "was killed because he knew a lot of vital secrets connected with very important people in the British and American regimes, and possibly in other countries as well," Assad told Russian channel Rossiya-24 in an interview Thursday.

Assad suggested that the convicted sex offender's death was analogous to the unusual demise earlier this week of White Helmets founder James Le Mesurier, who allegedly jumped out of a window at his home in Turkey. Turkish police are treating Le Mesurier's death as suicide.

"They turned into a burden once they had played out their roles. A dire need to do away with them surfaced after they had fulfilled their roles."

Assad was referring not just to Epstein and Le Mesurier, but also to Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden - originally trained by the CIA to fight the Soviet Union in Afghanistan - and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who spent time in American custody in the notorious Camp Bucca and Abu Ghraib prisons in Iraq. All these "had been killed chiefly because they knew major secrets," the Syrian leader argued.

Major defense technology leak? Israeli missile interceptor falls in Gaza Strip intact

Just hours after we posted a story about a report that an Israeli Stunner surface-to-air missile used in the David's Sling medium-range air defense system fell into Syrian territory and was transferred by the Assad regime to Russia, images have appeared on social media showing what appears to be the intact fuse section of a Tamir interceptor used by the Iron Dome system. This proximity fuse system is highly advanced as it has to detect a small and fast-flying target — a rocket in most cases — and detonate the missile's warhead with perfect timing in order to destroy it. It is also highly miniaturized yet hardened enough to withstand the extreme G forces sustained by the super-maneuverable interceptor.

UPDATE: Upon further review of the photos, I actually believe the section includes the missile's active radar seeker, as well. That seems to be the component hanging out of the front of the tube. In other words, this would be the entire seeker and fuse section forward of the fins. Obviously, the loss would be even more significant if this is indeed the case.

Comment: RT reports:
The timing must be perfect, considering the astounding speeds at which both the targeted projectile and the interceptor travel. So, it's no surprise that the components responsible for it, the active radar seeker and the fuse section, are highly classified (and sought-after by anyone wishing to reverse engineer the Israeli technology). Usually an interceptor that fails to hit its target self-destructs to protect its secrets.


The Tamir missile is produced by Rafael, a major Israeli state-owned defense contractor also involved in production of the longer-range David's Sling air defense system. The interceptors are estimated to cost between $40,000 and $100,000 a-piece and are usually fired from launchers carrying 20 missiles each. Two interceptors are launched against an enemy projectile deemed a threat, to ensure a kill.

The Iron Dome systems have been used extensively this week amid hostilities between Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad and Israel after the latter killed Bahaa Abu al-Atta, a senior militant commander, and reportedly tried to kill an Islamic Jijad political operative in Syria.

Jurgen Trittin has chimed in on the comment thread that followed President Macron's words about NATO's "cerebral death", calling to wake up to reality and not ignore objective truths.

For the time being, NATO is going through an existential crisis, being just a "shadow" of what it used to be, Jurgen Trittin, a Bundestag member from the Green Party and member of the German Parliament's Foreign Policy Committee, shared in a Der Spiegel op-ed.

"One can choose to sugarcoat NATO, like German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas is doing or state unequivocally: the alliance is losing its integrity", the parliamentarian wrote.

President Macron's words about NATO's "brain death" are all correct, the op-ed's author says.

"What's the alliance about if its biggest economic player deems cars from Germany, the second biggest one, as a threat to its national security?" the politician queries.

According to him, the German foreign minister misses the NATO "that no longer exists".

"In the 70th year of its existence, the alliance is more like just a shadow of its own self", Trittin notes.

Comment: It's about time that some European politicians realized that NATO's objectives hurt the well-being of their countries. Just notice the huge amount of refugees that enter EU countries causing the destabilization of the continent, refugees and immigrants from countries that NATO destroyed, literally or economically.

Bolivia's ousted leader Evo Morales pleaded with his country's military to stop firing on unarmed demonstrators protesting the coup-imposed interim leadership, after several activists were killed in clashes with security forces.

"We ask the armed forces and the Bolivian Police to stop the massacre," Morales said in a tweet late on Friday. "The uniform of the institutions of the Homeland cannot be stained with the blood of our people."

At least five protesters were killed and some 75 injured in the streets of Cochabamba on Friday during hectic skirmishes with police and military after thousands of indigenous Morales backers gathered to protest the socialist leader's ouster. Though there was no violence at the rally in the morning, clashes broke out when the military blocked the march from crossing a nearby checkpoint.

Comment: The US puppet in Bolivia recognizes the US puppet in Venezuela while killing the people who are protesting the forceful removal of the president who they repeatedly chose to represent them.

It has been eight days since the public first learned from a leaked video of journalist Amy Robach that ABC News executives in 2016 spiked her reporting on high-powered, globe-trotting pedophile Jeffery Epstein and his network of well-connected sexual predators.

It has been seven days since the public first learned that ABC conspired with CBS News to have an individual fired from her job with the latter because ABC suspected that she is the one who leaked the video.

It has been five days since the public first heard from the fired CBS producer, Ashley Bianco, that she was not the individual responsible for leaking ABC's archival footage of Robach.

It has been one day since the public first learned that ABC is still hunting for the real leaker, who is apparently still employed by the network, and that top executives are reportedly "freaking out" over the anonymous employee's secret identity.
