US slaps new sanctions on China over alleged violation of N. Korea embargo

trump and kim
The United States slapped a fresh batch of sanctions on China over an alleged violation of the US embargo against North Korea, just weeks after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Vietnam, which failed to bear results due to conflicting demands of the sides.

The US Treasury Department has imposed new North Korean sanctions, targeting two Chinese shipping companies in particular, World News reported.

Dalian Haibo and Liaoning Danxing were added to the US Treasury's blacklist on Thursday, over what was called using "deceptive practices" to help Pyongyang procure certain goods.

The statement announced that one company had cooperated with a North Korean trading firm while another was operating in the DRPK's transportation industry.

US completely invalidates all of its own arguments about Crimea

trump tweet
Well the worst Putin Puppet of all time is at it again, this time tweeting that the US must recognize the Golan Heights as part of Israel despite the fact that the Israeli occupation of that Syrian land is illegal under international law.

"After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel's Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability!", Trump's tweet reads.

Russian parliament member Oleg Morozov made a statement in response to Trump's proclamation, saying that "Russia will never agree to recognize Israeli sovereignty in the Golan. Trump is damaging the international community and the Arab world".

Trump's tweet follows a report last week that his administration has deliberately softened the US government's language concerning the Golan Heights in a way that is favorable to Israel, referring to the region as "Israeli-controlled" instead of "Israeli-occupied" as it had always previously been. This is just one more of the many, many ways in which the facts demonstrate a virulently anti-Russia posture by the Trump administration in the face of a funhouse mirror mass media narrative which claims the exact opposite, another of those facts being the administration's sanctions and hawkish posturing over the Russian Federation's 2014 annexation of Crimea.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump tweeted that it was time for the US to fully recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit announced that the league fully supports Syrian sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

"The League of Arab States fully supports Syria's right for its occupied territory. We have a specific position, based on resolutions, on this issue," Aboul Gheit said on Thursday.

The official insisted that the Golan Heights were occupied territory belonging to Syria under international law and the resolutions of the United Nations and the UN Security Council.

Police have confirmed a person recorded as being allegedly murdered by the Christchurch terror attack shooter is not dead.

After RNZ reporters reviewed names and numbers of the dead, it was discovered that there were 51 names, not 50.

After getting confirmation from police one person was wrongly named as dead, the total number remains at 50.

Police wrongly charged the Christchurch shooter with the murder of a person who - it has emerged - turned out to be alive. That person's name is being suppressed by the court.

Top Ukrainian justice official: US ambassador gave us a 'do not prosecute list'

Prosecutor-General Yuriy Lutsenko
Prosecutor-General Yuriy Lutsenko
Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko told Hill.TV's John Solomon in an interview that aired Wednesday that U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch gave him a do not prosecute list during their first meeting.

"Unfortunately, from the first meeting with the U.S. ambassador in Kiev, [Yovanovitch] gave me a list of people whom we should not prosecute," Lutsenko, who took his post in 2016, told Hill.TV last week.

"My response of that is it is inadmissible. Nobody in this country, neither our president nor our parliament nor our ambassador, will stop me from prosecuting whether there is a crime," he continued.

Comment: The State Department has, of course, denied all accusations. RFE/RL reports more:
Lutsenko did not say when the purported meeting with Yovanovitch took place. She was nominated to be ambassador by President Barack Obama in May 2016 and was sworn in in August of the same year.

The back and forth comes less than two weeks ahead of a Ukrainian presidential election in which challengers have sought to paint incumbent Petro Poroshenko as failing to combat corruption and abuses of power since taking office in mid-2014.

"The statement of Ukraine's prosecutor-general does not correspond to reality and is meant to weaken the reputation of Ambassador Yovanovitch," the State Department said.

US scrambles as China extends influence everywhere, EU caught in middle

Li Keqiang
© AFPChina's Premier Li Keqiang will co-chair the annual China-EU summit in Brussels on April 9.
Facing China's irresistible rise all across the chessboard, and under relentless US pressure, the not exactly democratic EU leadership is on a backbreaking exercise to position itself between a geopolitical/geoeconomic rock and a hard place.

The 28-member EU holds a crucial meeting next week in Brussels where it may adopt a 10-point action plan detailing, in a thesis, the terms of an equitable economic relationship with China going forward.

This will happen as Chinese President Xi Jinping visits Italy and then France - ahead of the very important, annual China-EU summit in Brussels on April 9, to be co-chaired by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

That's the crucial context under which the European Commission (EC) has recommended what it describes as 10 concrete "actions" to the EU Heads of State for their debate at the European Council in March 21 and 22.

Comment: The US finds itself in a different reality where, under the weight of its own corruption, it no longer has the best arms or means of coercion that it once had. In its place, China, and Russia, have strategically positioned themselves on the international stage offering mutually beneficial deals. And after decades of economic collapse in the West as well as sorely lacking in resources of all kinds, they're in no position to refuse; lest they further engender public fury: Also check out SOTT radio's:

The governing centre-right coalition in the Netherlands has lost its senate majority after a populist party surged in provincial elections.

The anti-immigration Forum for Democracy is set to win most votes and have as many seats in the upper house as Prime Minister Mark Rutte's party.

The election came two days after a suspected terror attack in Utrecht.

Addressing supporters, party leader Thierry Baudet bitterly criticised Mr Rutte's immigration policies.

"Successive Rutte governments have left our borders wide open, letting in hundreds of thousands of people with cultures completely different to ours," he told the cheering crowd.

The Cold War Ides of March

Heedless of the consequences, or perhaps welcoming them, America's Cold Warriors and their media platforms have recently escalated their rhetoric against Russia, especially in March. Anyone who has lived through or studied the preceding 40-year Cold War will recognize the ominous echoes of its most dangerous periods, when actual war was on the horizon or a policy option. Here are only a few random but representative examples:

Power shift: US 'oil weapon' could change geopolitics forever

In a dynamic that shows just how far U.S. oil production has come in recent years, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Monday that in the last two months of 2018, the U.S. Gulf Coast exported more crude oil than it imported.

Monthly net trade of crude oil in the Gulf Coast region (the difference between gross exports and gross imports) fell from a high in early 2007 of 6.6 million b/d of net imports to 0.4 million b/d of net exports in December 2018. As gross exports of crude oil from the Gulf Coast hit a record 2.3 million b/d, gross imports of crude oil to the Gulf Coast in December-at slightly less than 2.0 million b/d-were the lowest level since March 1986.

U.S. oil production hit a staggering 12.1 million b/d in February, while that amount has been projected to stay around that production mark in the mid-term then increase in the coming years. The U.S. is the new global oil production leader, followed by Russia and Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Arabia is still the world's largest oil exporter - a factor that still gives Riyadh considerable leverage, particularly as it works with Russia, and other partners as part of the so-called OPEC+ group of producers. However, Saudi Arabia's decades-long role of market swing producers has now been replaced by this coalition of producers, reducing Riyadh's power both geopolitically and in global oil markets. In short, what Saudi Arabia could once do on its own, it has to do with several partners.

ABC's Ted Koppel admits MSM is biased against Trump

The mainstream news media has traded informing the public for indoctrinating them, but the change got called out by an "old-school" journo.

Fox News reported on March 19th that one of America's most well-known TV news anchors, Ted Koppel, noted that the once-great media outlets like The New York Times and The Washington Post, have indeed traded journalistic excellence for hit pieces for political purposes. While political opinions in the mainstream press are certainly within the purview of any publication, this sort of writing can hardly be classified as "news" but as "Opinion" or more widely known, "Op-Ed."

We have two videos on this. The first is the original clip showing the full statement that Mr. Koppel gave. It is illuminating, to say the least:

Tucker Carlson and Brit Hume, a former colleague of Mr. Koppel, added their comments on this admission in this second short video piece, shown here.
