A 2 year old foreign boy is being treated in the ICU after he was mauled by a Pit Bull in Pattaya on Monday. The young child suffered a broken jaw, torn cheeks, and an open wound on his head which required 200 stitches.
At 4pm on Monday, a foreign nanny took 2 foreign boys - aged 2 and 4 - on a walk in a village in South Pattaya. A Thai woman opened her front door to take the rubbish out as the 3 walked past and a Pit Bull, weighing more than 70 kilograms, ran out of the house and immediately charged at the 2 year old boy. The 4 year old managed to escape in time.
The two women tried to intervene but couldn't get the Pit Bull away from the young boy. Neighbours ran over to help separate the dog from the child, who was already seriously injured.
One neighbour who ran over to help was 67 year old Somkiat. Somkiat says he saw the attack and immediately ran over to hit the dog with a stick. He said it took several minutes to get the dog away from the child. One neighbour's CTTV camera captured the incident, which lasted for more than 5 minutes.
A man who was mauled by dogs in his Huffman neighborhood earlier this month has now died.
A neighbor found Nicolas Vasquez pinned in the ditch with three dogs on top of him, attacking him. That was June 9, 2022. After 10 days in the hospital, Vasquez has died.
Now loved ones and some neighbors want the dog owners charged.
"When you know they're barking, chasing people, you should do something about it. When you just sit in your air-conditioned house and do nothing, that's negligence" says neighbor Calvin Stoy, who stopped the dogs from attacking Vasquez.
"I thought I heard a moan. I heard the dogs barking. So I went to the corner of my yard here, and I heard another moan," Stoy explains.

An extremely rare megamouth shark was found washed up from the ocean depths in a Philippines coastal village.
The deepwater shark was discovered dead by local fisherfolk in a remote area of Gubat, in Sorsogon on June 11, Philippines news outlet Rappler reported.
Officials from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) do not yet know the cause of death. However, BFAR spokesperson Nonie Enolva told Rappler that she suspects it may have become tangled in a fishing net.
Photographs posted to Facebook by Enolva show the shark lying dead in the shallows.
Hundreds of baby birds have been found scattered around streets in southern Spain after falling from their nests in a desperate attempt to escape an extreme summer heat wave.
The birds, swifts specifically, often make their nests in buildings where construction materials such as concrete or sheet metal are used. These conditions, combined with an ongoing Spanish heat wave that has seen temperatures soar to over 104 degrees Fahrenheit in recent days, can turn their nests into ovens.
"They're literally being cooked," said Elena Moreno Portillo, an animal activist at the Seville-based conservation group Ecourbe told The Guardian newspaper.
The group's Facebook page shows how people have been collecting boxes full of the baby birds. In Seville and Cordoba, where there are large urban colonies of swifts, as many as 100 have been collected in a single day.

Mystery creates wonder, and wonder is the basis for man's desire to understand. Who knows what mysteries will be solved in our lifetime, and what new riddles will become the challenge of the new generations.
