Two dead whales have been found on Edgartown beaches this week.

Both have been identified by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as humpback whales.

On Monday, a partially decomposed humpback was found in Edgartown near Crackatuxet Cove; the second was discovered by beachgoers at East Beach on Chappaquiddick Tuesday morning.

It is unclear at this time what caused the deaths.

One-year-old dies after being mauled by dog in Denton, Texas

One-year-old Riley Aiden Miller was killed last Wednesday when a family dog mauled the youngster as he was playing at his grandparents' home in Denton.

Jeff Davis Sheriff Preston Bohannon said the attack occurred just before noon in a playground area set up in the grandparents' yard for their grandchildren to play in. The dog, which Sheriff Bohannon said appeared to be a mixed breed dog with some bulldog bloodline in him, was a family pet that stayed both in the house and in the yard.

Family members said they had never had any issues with the dog.

"He was just a family pet," the Sheriff said. "The kids played with the dog."

Two separate incidents of stray dog attacks have been reported in India. A three-year-old toddler was mauled to death and a six-year-old girl was injured after a pack of stray dogs attacked them in Agra. In a separate incident, another 3-year-old toddler also sustained injuries on his head and stomach after a dog attacked him in Telangana's Kamareddy.

"A three-year-old girl was attacked by stray dogs when she was playing in front of her house. She was dragged by the dogs to an open field outside the village," sub-inspector Ashok Kumar posted in Agra said.

The other minor girl, who tried to rescue the toddler, was also attacked by the dogs, but she managed to run to safety, the official.

By the time the locals gathered and chased the dogs away, the three-year-old had succumbed to the injuries, the police said.

One more person was trampled to death by a tusker in Odisha's Dehnkanal district on Sunday.

As per reports, the man, identified as Banamali Nayak of Ganjara village under Babandh forest section of Hindol range in the district, had gone to a field on the outskirt of the village to attend to call of nature. An elephant from nearby forest came charging at him and trampled him. Banamali died on the spot.

On hearing the trumpet of the elephant, the villagers rushed to the spot and herded the tusker to the forest. Tension prevailed in the area as the villagers came down to the main road to stage a protest against elephant menace which has been recurringly claiming human lives.

In another tragic incident of man-elephant conflict, an elderly couple was fatally trampled by a herd of wild elephants on Monday at Bogai Reserve Forest in Assam's Chaygaon. The victims, Thuleswar Rabha (55) and Nilima Rabha (50), were residents of Kochpara village in Chaygaon. The unfortunate event occurred when the couple ventured to the hills of Bogai Reserve Forest for cultivation early in the morning. Local sources reported that the bodies were discovered by villagers who had gone to collect firewood in the area.

The couple was known to engage in daily cultivation activities on the hillside. As soon as the bodies were found, the villagers, along with the Boko police, Bamunigaon Forest officials, and a medical team, were promptly notified. They swiftly arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies.

They are social media stars and status symbols beloved by athletes, rappers and pet owners across the country.

But there are calls for the controversial American Bully XL to be banned in Britain as shocking data has revealed the breed has been involved in the majority of fatal dog attacks in the UK since 2021.

Stan Rawlinson, a dog behaviourist with more than 20 years of experience, was called as an expert witness for the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act and specialises in dog aggression.

He told MailOnline that the Bully XL is 'very, very reactive' and warned deaths caused by the breed could soar in the coming months and years.

Echoing warnings by PETA members and vets in the country, Mr Rawlinson explained: 'We averaged three dog attack deaths a year for the past 25 years. From that, we had ten last year with up to seven related to the XL Bully. This is only going to get worse.

A Russian citizen was killed in a shark attack near a beach at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Hurghada, Russia's Consulate General in the city and two Egyptian security sources said on Thursday.

Egypt's Environment Ministry said in a statement posted on Facebook that a tiger shark was responsible for the death of a beachgoer, without giving details of the victim.

A team from the ministry and other authorities was able to capture the shark, the statement said, adding that local authorities had issued a ban on swimming, snorkelling and other water sports activities on several beaches near the attack site.

Two died while one sustained injuries after a wild elephant attacked them while picking mango in an orchard.

The incident took place at Pakut, a village about 80km from Jharkhand state capital under the Kamdara police station area of Gumla district.

The deceased were identified as Motro Singh and Juhi Kumari while the injured as Bandhana Swansi.

The Forest department team reached the spot. Injured were referred to the Khunti Hospital.

A local resident informed that an elephant suddenly reached the orchard and before everyone could run, the wild elephant attacked them.

"Singh was killed on the spot. Juhi Kumari sustained injuries in the attack and was declared dead when taken to Primary Health Centre. Swasi, a resident of Pakut village, has been referred to Khunti Hospital in critical condition, where she is being treated," the villager said.
