Lab Meat: Big hype, bad investment

Laboratory-produced meat or lab meat-sometimes called "cultured meat" or even "clean meat"-is in the news these days, with gushing articles in the Washington Post, the New York Times and many magazines. The publicity machines are whirring at high speed, and all the chic arguments are on display. "Save the planet bite by bite," is one of the slogans. If we eat lab meat instead of real meat, we'll save the land from the desecration by cattle, cut down on water use, protect the air from cow farts containing methane and forestall global warming. Lab meat would be kinder also, because no animals would be killed.

As one commentator put it:
"Livestock farming is a known contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, pollution, and deforestation, and a huge consumer of water, energy, and chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The production of meat through tissue culture could have immense effects in reducing the environmental impact of our agriculture system, minimizing threats to public health, addressing issues of animal welfare, and providing food security. Cultured meat represents the crucial first step in finding a sustainable alternative to meat production."

Hospital in Sweden closed after patient is suspected of carrying ebola

hospital patient
The patient has been isolated at Uppsala hospital being suspected of carrying the Ebola virus, Swedish media outlet SVT Nyheter reports. The Enkoping hospital has been promptly closed for fear of staff potentially being exposed.

As Voice of Europe reported last week, there is concern about inadequate preparedness for when a new epidemic erupts.

The national health authorities in Sweden have chosen to keep a low profile on discussions on the virus to avoid causing concern among citizens, having not coordinated government initiatives leaving it to county councils whether they increase their preparedness.

The deadly Ebola virus is transmitted to humans from wild animals and according to the World Health Organisation it has a 50 per cent rate of fatality.

More than 11,000 people in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone died of the virus between December 2013 and April 2016.

SOTT Focus: The Health & Wellness Show: IV Vitamin C: The Miracle Cure You're Not Supposed to Know About

Vitamin-C-Infusionen

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient obtained from food and supplements. It is frequently the go-to supplement used for viral infections such as the common cold and flu. One downside with oral vitamin C supplementation is that only a small percentage is absorbed by the body and large doses can cause gastrointestinal upset making its efficacy hit or miss. Enter IV (intravenous) vitamin C. This master antioxidant can be absorbed at 100% when given IV. Vitamin C given by this route is not just effective for viral and bacterial illnesses but can also be used to treat a wide range of ailments not limited to Lyme Disease, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, burns, wounds and various types of cancer -- yes, Cancer -- thought to have a poor prognosis.

Vitamin C has a long track record of being beneficial to one's health so why isn't it used in every hospital in the world? It's cheap and effective with few side effects but it is still seen as a 'fringe' treatment and its use is actively blocked by mainstream medical professionals.

Join us for this episode of The Health and Wellness Show where we'll discuss this miracle molecule and why it should become one of the main tools in your health arsenal. Also, stay tuned at the end of the show for Zoya's Pet Health Segment where the topic will be excessive licking or grooming in cats.

Sex differences are real: Men more likely to die of brain cancer

Man and MRI

A new study shows that men are more likely than women to die of brain cancer because of fundamental differences in the way the cancer develops, with important implications for the future of treatment.

Men diagnosed with cancer have been proven to die more often and more quickly than women, which led researchers at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri to find out why. Their conclusion was that very different processes are at work in brain cancer-causing tumors depending on the host's gender. Although the researchers focused on the relatively rare type of glioblastoma, they believe that other cancer types will be shown to work the same way.

The study, titled 'Brain tumors' battle of the sexes' and published Wednesday in Science Translational Medicine, shows that the role of gender in the development and treatment of this type of cancer goes far beyond hormones or lifestyle differences, which vary depending on a person's age and region of the world.

Las Vegas man gets the flu shot - one day later he's blind and paralyzed

Shane and Monique Morgan
Shane and Monique Morgan
A Las Vegas man became partially paralyzed, lost his vision and the ability to walk just one day after receiving the flu shot.

He's been hospitalized for the last 2 weeks. At one point he was even put on a ventilator and in the ICU and his family blames the flu shot.

Shane Morgan went from perfectly healthy to unable to speak, walk, or breathe on his own.

At the start of November, Shane and his wife Monique like most couples were planning for the holidays, and with family and young infants coming to town they decided to get the flu shot.

"About 36-hours after he got the flu shot he started to get sick," Monique said as she sat next to her husband in his hospital bed.

Shane started complaining that he couldn't feel his legs or arms so his wife rushed him to Centennial Hills Hospital, where he spent 4-days on a ventilator in the ICU.

Flashback Report finds promoting low-fat diets has had 'disastrous health consequences'

Urging people to follow low-fat diets and to lower their cholesterol is having "disastrous health consequences", a British health charity has warned.

In a damning report that accuses major public health bodies of colluding with the food industry, the National Obesity Forum and the Public Health Collaboration call for a "major overhaul" of current dietary guidelines.

One expert said promoting a low-fat diet is 'perhaps the biggest mistake in modern medical history resulting in devastating consequences for public health.'

They say the focus on low-fat diets is failing to address Britain's obesity crisis, while snacking between meals is making people fat.

Instead, they call for a return to "whole foods" such as meat, fish and dairy, as well as high-fat healthy foods including avocados.

Comment: When listening to the messenger, always take note of who the messenger works for. All the "experts" citing the 'balanced diet, fat increases cholesterol' line are from mainstream medical institutions or shills for the industrial food industry. The evidence is overwhelming that humans evolved eating large quantities of meat and fat with little to no carbohydrates.

U.S. Congressman Mark Green: More research 'definitely needs to be done' on vaccines

vaccines
Physician Mark Green of Clarksville, Tennessee was elected last month to the U.S. House of Representatives. He is scheduled to be sworn into his new post on Jan. 3, 2019.1,2

In the last few weeks, the newly elected congressman was inducted into the brass knuckle world of political correctness when he dared to step out of line and publicly voice his concern about the safety of vaccines.

Rep.-elect Green, 54, graduated from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio and did his residency in emergency medicine at Fort Hood, Texas. He served as a special operations flight surgeon in both Afghanistan and Iraq. For his military service, Green was awarded the "Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medical with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal with the V Device for valor under heavy enemy fire while rescuing British Special Operations forces wounded near Fallujah, Iraq and the Combat Medical Badge," as well as other awards.2,3

After his military service, Dr. Green founded an emergency room management company called Align MD, which he later sold to American Physician Partners, LLC. He also founded the Two Rivers Medical Foundation, "which operates two free medical clinics, and serves on the board of two nonprofit organizations that care for soldiers and their families as they return from war."2,3

Whole Foods pulls off elaborate five-year GMO labeling hoax; lies to customers and hopes nobody remembers

Whole Foods
© Rick Wilking / Reuters
Whole Foods Market, now owned by Amazon, has pulled off an elaborate five-year GMO labeling hoax that deceived its own customers while promoting the ongoing sales of genetically engineered foods. Back in 2013, under intense pressure from honest food advocates who exposed Whole Foods' retailing of unlabeled GMOs, the food giant disarmed critics by promising that, by the end of 2018, everything it sells would be accurately labeled with its GMO content.

The clean food movement took Whole Foods at its word, backing off from pressuring the retailer, believing a significant victory had been achieved and that Whole Foods would keep its promise. Today, five years later, we now know that Whole Foods betrayed its customers and quietly walked away from its five-year promise to label GMOs on everything it sells. The original promise has now been revealed to be an elaborate corporate hoax that sought to deceive the very same Whole Foods customers who demand honest food labeling.

Comment: Whole Foods has more or less gone from a high-end health food store to nothing but a high-end grocery chain. Save your money and go to a more conventional grocery store. You're essentially getting the same thing, but you'll have more paycheck left at the end of the day.

Salmonella contaminated batch of roquette leaves prompts recall in France

rocket leaves
The Auchan brand has recalled several batches of rocket bags following the detection of salmonella. This infection results in gastrointestinal disturbances and fever within two days after ingestion of the contaminated products. When it is about fragile people (children, the elderly or the sick), the risk of dehydration can be particularly dangerous.

A control has highlighted Salmonella in bags of salad of the company Bonduelle Frais France, according to a statement of the Auchan group of December 21, 2018. Batches of 125 g of the brand Auchan brand (EAN: 3596710294947) with date consumption limit at 25/12/2018 and 28/12/2018 are therefore recalled.

Auchan is asking from those who bought the product to not consume it and return it to any Auchan store for the full refund.

Former vegan converts to carnivore diet after spider bite-bourne infection

Slywia Tabor carnivore
© PA Real Life
An ex-vegan who suffered an infection after being bitten by a spider now ONLY eats meat.

Sylwia Tabor from Sacramento, California, was out camping in July 2017 when she was bitten on the ankle, which caused her to come out in small pimples on her body and her flesh began to rot away.

She said: "I didn't think much of it at first. It was only a small bite on my ankle.

"But in late August, I developed this pimple in my groin area, which over the next days grew and grew until it was about the size of my hand."

Comment: Sounds like Sylwia found the healing power of the carnivore diet through rather unconventional means. But none the less, it sounds like she's done her research and is aware now that it's actually a superior means of nourishing oneself. It's great that she's been able to come back from the brink of a health catastrophe by taking a step few would dare to take.
