'Knife in the heart': Gold star parents say Biden admin lied to them after son's death in Afghanistan

The parents of Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover said President Joe Biden's administration lied to them after their son died in the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Hoover was among the thirteen soldiers killed in the suicide bomb explosion at the Kabul airport in Aug. 2021, following the Biden administration's decision to completely withdraw troops from Afghanistan. His mother, Kelly Barnett, testified in Escondido, California, with other gold star parents on Monday, where she emotionally described the Biden administration's involvement in her son's death.

Barnett and Darin Hoover, the slain service member's father, discussed what he said were the administration's lies and lack of accountability during a Fox & Friends interview on Tuesday. Barnett said she found out the truth about her son's death after officials falsely told her Hoover died on impact.

Barnett said:
"My son gave eleven years of his life to this country. I think that deserves some dang respect and I didn't get that respect when he died for his country. I felt that that is a knife in the heart, a knife in the back. The lies that they told were unnecessary and there's no point to, and it completed no mission to lie to me and it's just heartbreaking."

Moody's downgrades 11 US banks, warns of possible cuts to a number of banking giants

Signage is seen outside the Moody's Corporation headquarters in Manhattan, New York, U.S., November 12, 2021.
Moody's cut credit ratings of several small to mid-sized U.S. banks on Monday and said it may downgrade some of the nation's biggest lenders, warning that the sector's credit strength will likely be tested by funding risks and weaker profitability.

Moody's cut the ratings of 10 banks by one notch and placed six banking giants, including Bank of New York Mellon (BK.N), US Bancorp (USB.N), State Street (STT.N) and Truist Financial (TFC.N) on review for potential downgrades.

"Many banks' second-quarter results showed growing profitability pressures that will reduce their ability to generate internal capital," Moody's said in a note.

Comment: It looks like the crisis that was sparked earlier this year never really went away, it was just postponed; just a week ago Fitch downgraded the US from AAA to AA+: Historic: US credit rating downgraded over rising debt, 'deteriorating standards of governance'

And, in related news, a few weeks prior, both Henry Kissinger and Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen, separately, paid a visit to China - notably Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's offer to pay a visit was rejected. China is known to be the country holding the 2nd largest amount of US treasuries, after US ally/vassal, Japan. China has also made it known that it's dumping treasuries at a record rate: President Xi meets with China's 'old friend' Henry Kissinger in Beijing, Washington says visit was not on behalf of US gov't

The following are a few statistics that can give a rather startling overview as to the health of the US economy:

The U.S. Now Has:
  • 1. Record $17.1 trillion in household debt
  • 2. Record $12.0 trillion in mortgages
  • 3. Record $1.6 trillion in auto loans
  • 4. Record $1.6 trillion in student loans
  • 5. Record $1.0 trillion in credit card debt
Total mortgage debt is now more than double the 2006 peak. Meanwhile, 36% of Americans have more credit card debt than savings while student loan payments are set to resume for the first time since 2020. This is all while mortgage rates just hit 7.1% and credit card debt rates hit a record 25%. We are "fighting" inflation with debt. This can't end well.

Co-founder again blasts Wikipedia's "scientistic point of view," "so biased as to be twisted"

Journalist Glenn Greeenwald talked with Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger about the distortions — "so biased as to be twisted," says Sanger — that are now beyond obvious in the online encyclopedia's coverage of any controversial topic. Readers of Evolution News will likely be aware of how absurd Wiki has been on intelligent design, a point that Sanger has made in the past.

Sanger has been following the trend for a long time (at 2:09):
I first noticed that it was it was taking a really over-the-top biased point of view, when it shifted from the neutral point of view to what I guess I would call a scientistic point of view on any sort of controversial issues in science. The establishment view on that topic was pushed very heavily. That happened in, I don't know, 2006, 2008.

What heatwave? Latest data show July temperature in U.S. was normal

summer beach
Lurid headlines about a 'deadly' heatwave in the U.S. last month pinned the blame on climate change and claimed that the warmth was just getting started. 'Deadly US southwest heatwave will expand to cover much of America as warnings issued,' cried Sky News.

Now the data are out, and the alarmist headlines are once again looking ridiculous. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has updated its U.S. Contiguous USCRN Average Temperature Anomaly Data through July 2023, and as shown below, the month was unremarkable and continued a long period without a rising trend.

Florida school district says trans employees can't use pronouns, bathrooms that match their gender identity

Florida's Orange County Public Schools sent out a memo Monday that says its transgender employees and contractors can't use the pronouns or bathrooms that match their gender identity, citing state law.

The memo discusses House Bill 1069, which focuses on sex defined as an "immutable biological trait" at birth based on hormones and genitalia. Under the law, no one is allowed to be required to use a person's "preferred personal title or pronoun," and students are not to be asked for their pronouns.

"The bill states that a transgender employee or contractor may not provide a personal title or pronoun to students which does not correspond the employee's or contractor's biological sex at birth," the school district's memo states.

The second law mentioned in the memo, House Bill 1521, has to do with what bathroom an individual can use.

The group of people behind the defense of Kyle Rittenhouse announced the formation of a nonprofit aimed at helping regular people they believe are unfairly facing attacks from "cancel culture."

"We aim to help everyday Americans being victimized for exercising their constitutional rights," Jillian Anderson, a board member of the newly formed Themis Alliance, told Fox News Digital. "Whether it's blatant censorship or the government being weaponized against people for simply speaking up against government policy, it's clear there's a coordinated assault on the First Amendment underway."

DeSantis suspends Soros-backed Orlando state attorney over 'dereliction of duty' on crime

DeSantis' office says State Attorney Monique Worrell allowed criminals to 'escape the full consequences' of their actions

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended Ninth Judicial Circuit State Attorney Monique Worrell for "dereliction of duty" on crime via an executive order on Wednesday.

DeSantis' office says that Worrell, whose jurisdiction includes Orlando, has routinely allowed murderers and other violent offenders to "escape the full consequences of their criminal conduct." The governor is tapping Florida judge Andrew Bain to replace Worrell as the state attorney for the 9th judicial circuit.

"The practices and policies of her office have allowed murderers, other violent offenders, and dangerous drug traffickers to receive extremely reduced sentences and escape the full consequences of their criminal conduct. In some cases, these offenders have evaded incarceration altogether," DeSantis' office wrote in a statement.

Comment: Aaaand there goes another Soros-backed minion. May the trend continue. The Orlando-Sentinal reported August 16. 2020:
Backed by billionaire investor George Soros, who has helped tip local races before, a group is spending at least $1.5 million on last-minute ads to help one of the candidates in the crowded race to become the next top prosecutor for Orange and Osceola counties.

Records show that a new political committee raised more than $2.2 million and spent more than $1.5 million in the past two weeks — all of it, according to organizers, on behalf of Monique Worrell, a criminal-justice reform advocate who is one of four Democrats competing in the Tuesday primary to become the local state attorney.

That political committee - called "Our Vote Our Voice" — has raised most of its money from two sources: $1 million from the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, the group that spearheaded the 2018 constitutional amendment restoring voting rights to people who have completed felony sentences, and $1 million from Democracy PAC, a political committee set up by Soros, a Democratic billionaire and megadonor.

The last-minute, outside-ad blitz in support of Worrell mirrors the last election for Orange-Osceola state attorney, when Soros spent more than $1.3 million in the closing weeks of the 2016 campaign to elect the current state attorney, Aramis Ayala, who is not running for re-election.

[...]

Some of the ads aren't entirely accurate. One spot, for instance, calls Worrell a "former prosecutor." Worrell used to lead a unit in Ayala's office that investigates claims of innocence by people who have already been found guilty, but she has never prosecuted a case.

UK facing 60% risk of recession by 2024

Rishi Sunak will fight the next election against a backdrop of an economy suffering from five years of lost growth and a widening of the gap between the prosperous and less well off parts of Britain, a leading thinktank said on Wednesday.

The National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) said it would take until the third quarter of 2024 for UK output to return to its pre-pandemic peak and that there was a 60% risk of the government going to the polls during a recession.

In its quarterly update on the state of the economy, the NIESR said the poorest tenth of the population had been especially hard hit by Britain's cost of living crisis and would need an income boost of £4,000 a year to have the same living standards they enjoyed in the year before Covid-19 arrived.

Comment: As noted below, the majority of people will not suddenly start earning thousands of pounds more than they are now, on the contrary, a convergence of rising costs will mean that they will in fact be earning far less than they are now.

Comment: Other experts would argue that the UK, and much of Europe have already entered a recession, and that there's much worse to come:
The U.S. Now Has:
  • 1. Record $17.1 trillion in household debt
  • 2. Record $12.0 trillion in mortgages
  • 3. Record $1.6 trillion in auto loans

Italy approves 40% windfall tax on banks for 2023, banks criticized for reaping billions from customers due to rising interest rates

italy bank
© Stefano Rellandini/ReutersA view of Milan. Banks in Italy have raised loan interest rates faster than those for savings. Proceeds from levy on interest rate income will be used to help mortgage holders and cut taxes.
Italy has announced a one-off 40% windfall tax on local banks that have been accused of reaping billions in extra profit from rising interest rates.

The Italian government, which approved the surprise tax in a cabinet meeting on Monday night, said it planned to use the proceeds to support mortgage holders and cut taxes, at a time when rising rates have put extra pressure on households.

The decision, which analysts said could force banks to collectively give as much as €4.9bn (£4.2bn) to the state, sent bank shares plunging. Shares in Italy's largest bank, Intesa Sanpaolo, fell 8.67% to close at €2.338 on Tuesday afternoon, while Unicredit closed 5.9% lower at €21.28.

It follows similar moves by Spain last year, and comes only weeks after Intesa Sanpaolo raised its profit forecasts for the year, reviving concerns over potential profiteering by high-street lenders.

Comment: The financial outlook in Italy is looking particularly dire, and it's not a situation which will be alleviated by a few billion; which likely pales in comparison to the the amount of profit banks have made:

The next generation is being groomed for destruction - here's why they are vulnerable

classroom
The past week the National Education Association, the largest teachers union in the US, issued guidance on the use of leftist activist symbols in public school classrooms. As part of their advice to teachers, they recommended violating district and state rules and hanging items such as pride flags and BLM flags. This is generally cited as a means to "start a conversation," a way for teachers to circumvent school rules. They might not be able to spend each day spinning lessons on woke concepts, but if a child asks a question about the flags in the room, then they can provide "context."

The NEA has been one of the primary driving forces behind the intrusion of woke ideology into the public school setting. Around 97% of their political fundraising goes towards Democrat candidates. They seem to be obsessed with the grooming of children into the leftist fold with lessons focused on Critical Race Theory, gender fluid propaganda and socialism. If you want to know where the sudden surge in social justice cultism came from in terms of America's kids, leftist teachers and the NEA are to blame.
