Only 15% think the 'traffic light' coalition is performing better than the previous government, according to a survey.

More than two thirds of German voters are dissatisfied with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to an INSA poll conducted for Bild newspaper.

A growing number are frustrated with Scholz's so-called "traffic light" coalition, consisting of the SPD, the Greens and the Free Democrats (FDP), with approval ratings for all three in decline after 18 months in office.

Seriously? UK emergency operators are warned to ask callers how they want to be referred to rather than 'misgendering' them

NHS 999 call-centre staff were told they should not use Sir or Madam

NHS 999 operators have been told to ask callers their preferred pronouns to avoid misgendering them based on the sound of their voices.

Call-centre staff should also not use Sir or Madam, with one ambulance trust stating preferred pronouns should be sought even in emergencies so the experience is less stressful for trans patients.

Others say birth sex is often irrelevant to care, so operators can use patients' self-identified gender.

The policies can be revealed today in the second part of an investigation into the spread of contested gender ideology in the NHS.

Drought causes severe backlog at Panama Canal, shipments delayed by WEEKS, cost of goods in US may spike

Panama Canal
August 2023: The large vessels, thought to be carrying millions of dollars worth of goods, are locked in a traffic jam with some waiting for weeks to cross
More than 200 ships are stuck on both sides of the Panama Canal after authorities capped the number of crossings because of a serious drought.

The large vessels, thought to be carrying millions of dollars worth of goods, are locked in a traffic jam with some waiting for weeks to cross.

Vessel-tracking data highlights the extent of the issue with hundreds of ships, mainly bulk cargo or gas carriers, seen waiting near entrances to the canal on the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

The number of daily transits through the canal has been capped at 32 by water authorities in a bid to conserve water.

Panama is set to lose $200million in revenue from the delays and it could cause a spike in US grocery and parcel prices as extra fees are hiked on to shipping costs.

Comment: And this is at a time when people are already struggling to get by due to record inflation. Further, once again we see just how vulnerable the supply chain is:

Public mood in Ukraine 'somber' amid 'sluggish' counteroffensive - The Economist

Ukrainian society is showing increasing signs of fatigue over the conflict with Russia, with some frontline soldiers hoping for a ceasefire, despite the government's determination to keep fighting, The Economist has claimed.

"The public mood is sombre," the British publication reported on Sunday, pointing to the heavy losses suffered by Ukrainian troops during the summer counteroffensive.

The public increasingly perceives the conflict as "a war that has no end in sight" and is reluctant to pay for it in treasure and blood, the article reads, adding that people who were keen to fight "volunteered long ago", so Kiev is now "recruiting mostly among the unwilling."

"It makes the air so thick that you can actually feel it," an activist supporting the troops told the magazine. With the cost of prolonging hostilities becoming obvious, "even hoping for success in the counter-offensive has become an act of self-destruction."

Why San Francisco is dying and what it has to do with George Soros

Once the calling card of America's most populous state, San Francisco today is showing the bruises of political mismanagement as residents flee for the emergency exits. Can anything save the famed city of seven hills?

In 1879, the American poet Ina Coolbrith attempted to capture the beauty and grandeur of the fabled US coastal city, which continues to serve as host for thousands of artists, writers and progressive thinkers, with her poem 'To San Francisco'.
Fair on your hills, my City,
Fair as the Queen of old,
Supreme in her seven-hilled splendor
You, from your Gate of Gold,
Facing the orient sunburst,
Swathed in the sunset gleams,
Throned in an ultimate glory,
City of mists and of dreams!
Coolbrith would most likely be appalled by what has become of her beloved city today: intractable poverty, homelessness, drug abuse, and shuttered storefronts are just some of the problems now plaguing California's once exquisite cultural gem.

Last October, Graham Norton sparked a nationwide debate when he appeared at the Cheltenham Literature Festival and claimed that cancel culture should be more accurately described as 'accountability'. This was little consolation for those who have faced the online mob, or who have been hounded out of their jobs for commonly held opinions.

One of these is Graham Linehan, the comedy writer who created Father Ted, Black Books and The IT Crowd.

Ever since he started being vocal about the rise of gender identity ideology, and the threat it poses to the rights of women and gay people, he has been demonised by a powerful group of activists.

Their campaign against him has been so effective that he is now virtually unemployable in the comedy industry. He is almost bankrupt, and relies mostly on his writings for Substack to get by.

Worse still, his stage musical version of Father Ted has been pulled by Hat Trick Productions, the company that owns the rights. According to Graham, this has happened because the management has capitulated to activists within the organisation.

Researchers found that binge drinking, marijuana use and hallucinogen consumption reached record levels among adults between the ages of 35 and 50.

Comment: Across the West in particular, the number of suicides, deaths of despair, 'unexplained' excess deaths, crime of most kinds, poverty, ill health, are surging, and so is it any wonder that those who are just about making it through are relying on, or at least resorting to, drugs of various kinds? Is it also any wonder that some of these same drugs are now being decriminalised by the same people responsible for the dire state of the world?

UK: Doctors wage war on NHS managers after Lucy Letby murders

Baby killings highlight need to have regulator for hospital administrators, says BMA, as inquiry branded 'inadequate'

Senior doctors are demanding a crackdown on "unaccountable" NHS managers after hospital bosses were accused of "walking away from life-destroying mistakes" in the case of child serial killer Lucy Letby.

The British Medical Association, which represents doctors, led calls for senior health service administrators to be held accountable to a regulator akin to the General Medical Council (GMC), which can strike off doctors who have harmed patients.

The calls came as victims' families and MPs warned that the inquiry ordered by Steve Barclay, the Health Secretary, into how Letby was able to attack or kill 13 babies will not have the power to conduct a proper investigation.

Comment: At least one individual involved is finally being disciplined:
Alison Kelly was accused in court of failing to act when doctors raised "serious concerns" about the nurse during her tenure as director of nursing and quality at the Countess of Chester Hospital where Letby murdered seven babies.

Ms Kelly is now a director of nursing at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust in the Manchester area and local politicians called for her position to be investigated by ministers.

It emerged on Sunday that she has now been suspended due to several allegations that emerged during the court case.

[...]

Ms Kelly is the most senior nurse at the Salford and Rochdale organisations within the Northern Care Alliance in the North-West of England. It is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country and employs 20,000 staff.

The Telegraph understands that politicians in the area were deeply concerned to learn that Ms Kelly was still in a senior management position.

It was more than eight years ago, in July 2015, when Ms Kelly was first told that Letby was the only nurse on shift when three babies died within two weeks of one another.

Letby would go on to murder four more babies following concerns first being raised with Ms Kelly, the first just one month after Ms Kelly received a report from lead consultant Dr Stephen Brearey.

Ms Kelly was contacted again in February 2016 by Dr Brearey who, as part of a review, found common links in nine deaths stretching back to mid-2015.

[...]

Paul Bristow, a Tory MP and health select committee member, said: "Evidence from this dreadful trial seems to suggest that Ms Kelly was repeatedly made aware of the consultant's concerns but these were not acted on promptly.

"This may have had disastrous consequences. There are many questions for Ms Kelly and others to answer at the subsequent independent inquiry.

"Families and clinicians could be forgiven for thinking Ms Kelly shouldn't have similar responsibilities in Rochdale while these questions remain unanswered."

The Biden regime is preparing to reinstate full COVID-19 lockdowns, beginning with masking mandates for TSA and airport employees reportedly as early as mid-September, Infowars first to report.

A high-level TSA official reached out to Infowars, detailing a Tuesday meeting where TSA managers were informed of new memorandums and policies that would reimplement mask-wearing. These policies will reinstate the mask mandate for TSA and airport employees starting in mid-September.

According to the TSA official, further details on how the policy will escalate will be provided next week.

The official added that by mid-October, mask-wearing will be mandated for pilots, flight staff, passengers, and all airport patrons.

Following this disclosure from the TSA official, Infowars reached out to a trusted Border Patrol source, also in a managerial position. This source corroborated the directives, confirming that similar measures were being planned for Border Patrol personnel.
