More details emerged Wednesday about New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's alleged cover-up of COVID-19 fatalities in nursing homes — including how his top aides muzzled state health officials for at least five months, according to a report.

The Cuomo administration was apparently aware of the true death toll in nursing homes since last spring, The New York Times reported.

But senior staffers buried a scientific paper that reported the number, blocked health officials from releasing the accurate tally and didn't publicize an audit of the data until months after it was completed, the report alleges.

An email sent by top aide Melissa DeRosa to health officials on June 18 indicated the admin was "anxious" about a DOH report on nursing home coronavirus fatalities, the Times reported.

A Los Angeles-based jail reform group led by BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors spent nearly $26,000 for "meetings" at a luxury Malibu beach resort in 2019, according to campaign finance records reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Reform LA Jails dropped $10,179 for "meetings and appearances" at the Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club in Malibu, California, and another $15,593 at the Malibu Conference Center, a corporate conference facility owned by the resort, according to the records, which covered the time period between July and September 2019. Guests at the 200-acre resort, where rooms start at $600 a night, have exclusive access to a private five-acre strip of the Malibu coast.

The records show that the payments were made on behalf of the jail reform group by a consulting firm owned by Asha Bandele, a longtime mentor of Cullors and co-author of her 2018 biography, "When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir."

Cullors, a self-proclaimed "trained Marxist," is the founder and chairwoman of Reform LA Jails, also known as Vote Yes On R. The group, which says it is "powered by Black Lives Matter," successfully led a ballot measure passed in 2020 that authorized the Los Angeles Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission to develop a plan to reduce the jail population in the county.

Parents protest for Vail School District to lift mask mandate - UPDATE: Board quits, PARENTS replace members, cancel mandate

© KGUNNearly 100 parents rallied at the Vail Education Center to drop the mask mandate at the schools.
Emotions flared in Vail Tuesday night after some parents shared their frustrations about the Vail Unified School District still requiring its students to mask up.

On Tuesday, the VUSD school board was planning to discuss its mask policy after Gov. Doug Ducey enacted a new executive order that lifted the state's order to require face masks in schools.

As this new order allowed "K-12 school districts and charter schools still maintain the right to institute and enforce policies to mitigate against COVID-19 spread, including the use of masks," several local school districts elected to maintain its mask mandate throughout the remainder of the school year.

Comment: Apparently the board was intimidated enough to quit en masse. The parents elected a new set of members on the spot:

If Sam Smith's new tattoo of a boy in stilettos and underwear is what 'non-binary gender' means, then I want nothing to do with it

How can a human being be neither a man nor a woman? Sam Smith thinks they are, but what this means beyond grammatically inconvenient pronouns is hard to fathom.

Smith came out in a blaze of publicity two years ago. At the time, the singer explained that being non-binary was "your own special creation." Last week, a remarkable creation was tattooed onto Smith's arm.

A boy wearing nothing but underwear and women's stilettos gazes in a mirror. According to People Magazine, it seems to be a tribute to Smith's non-binary gender identity.

If this is what non-binary means, I want nothing to do with it. Whether the image depicts Smith or someone else, it should make us all question what is going on under the burgeoning LGBTQQIAAP umbrella.

Comment: It's encouraging that people like Ms. Hayton, Theryn Meyer, and Sophie Narwitz are willing to speak out against the current madness. They are the voices of many more transgender people who have found a peace with their choices and just want to get on with their lives.

More than 400 companies — including Tesla, Pfizer, Delta Air Lines and Amazon — have signed on to support civil rights legislation for LGBTQ people that is moving through Congress, advocates said Tuesday.

The Human Rights Campaign, a Washington-based LGBTQ advocacy group, said its Business Coalition for the Equality Act has grown to 416 members, including dozens of Fortune 500 companies. Big names like Apple, PepsiCo, General Motors, CVS, Facebook, Marriott, Capital One, Starbucks and Home Depot pepper the list.

"It's time that civil rights protections be extended to LGBT+ individuals nationwide on a clear, consistent and comprehensive basis," said Carla Grant Pickens, IBM's chief diversity and inclusion officer, in a statement distributed by the Human Rights Campaign.

Comment: It's all "good" for everybody, or else . . . .

India's current 'COVID crisis' in context

covid burning
The mainstream media's reporting on the 'COVID crisis' in India has clearly been governed by a global approach to messaging that appears to aim at ramping up fear of 'new variants' and coerce compliance to vaccination during a period of increasing resistance, both in India and abroad. However, as somebody who lived in India for 8 years in total until December 2019, and as the fundraiser for a food bank in Bihar that has been alleviating the hunger caused by lockdowns [1], I have daily contact with people in India as well as some context for the figures being presented amidst the ongoing alarm.

Firstly, the media are presenting cases and deaths in whole numbers that sound horrendous until you convert them to percentages of India's huge population of 1.4 billion people. The current daily death rate in India of 2,600 is equivalent to 126 deaths per day in the UK, way below our peak rate and closer to what we are experiencing now. See the graph produced by JHU below to understand the context [2].

Secondly, even as the alleged COVID deaths reach their peak more people die of diarrhoea every day in India and have done for years, mostly due to a lack of clean water and sanitation creating a terrain ripe for the flourishing of communicable disease [3].

Which states have dropped mask mandates and why

masks states
© Ballotpedia, ABC News
Five states -- Texas, Mississippi, Iowa, Montana and North Dakota -- have ended, or soon will end, statewide mask mandates, despite the looming threat of COVID-19 and highly transmissible variants.

They're joining 11 other states -- Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Tennessee -- that never required face coverings statewide.

Alabama will lift its mandate in about a month, Gov. Kay Ivey announced Thursday. She said that beginning on April 9, wearing masks will be "a matter of personal responsibility and not a government mandate."

Texas and Mississippi announced Tuesday they'd shortly be ending requirements for masks and allowing businesses to operate at full capacity, decisions President Joe Biden slammed as "Neanderthal thinking."

Comment: More states seem to be rolling back their covid restrictions, like Tennessee. Let's hope trend continues.
Tennessee Republican Gov. Bill Lee is facing blowback after announcing an end to restrictions on businesses in his state and says local health departments will not have the authority to mandate masks.

In Tuesday tweets, Lee said Covid-19 is "no longer a health emergency" in Tennessee thanks to widely available vaccines against the virus.

"We have never had a statewide mask mandate and I am removing authority from local officials to issue mask requirements," he tweeted, adding that remaining mask mandates and business restrictions should be lifted completely by Memorial Day weekend.

Lee also announced an end to 'The Tennessee Pledge,' a set of guidelines released for businesses to take precautions during the pandemic. The 'Pledge' was removed from the state government website on Tuesday. While the recommendations were never mandatory, the governor said retiring the "government playbook" helps send a "clear message" about Covid restrictions ending in the state.

Tennessee joins multiple other states such as Texas that have rolled back their Covid-19 restrictions. Some have criticized the reopenings as premature, and Lee's announcement was no different as many on social media blasted the governor as "unfit" for office and accused him of "pretending" Covid-19 is no longer an emergency.

Asian man in critical condition after brutal unprovoked attack in NYC - UPDATE: Black man arrested and charged

Comment: Update 28 April 2021

49-year-old Black man Jarrod Powell has been arrested and charged. ABC News reports that Powell has a lengthy and violent arrest record. In January 25, 1998, he kidnapped 23-year-old woman from an apartment on Staten Island, took her to another location and sexually assaulted her. He was charged with kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, sexual misconduct, sex assault.

© Christopher SadowskiThe NYPD is investigating a potential hate crime against an Asian man in Harlem.
An Asian man is fighting for his life early Saturday after being stomped in the head in East Harlem as he pushed a shopping cart full of recyclables, police sources told The Post.

The shocking attack by a suspect who remained at large comes amid a rash of hate crimes against Asian-Americans in the boroughs and beyond.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating; police have not determined if the man was targeted due to his race, sources said.

Comment: This happens a LOT in American cities. The only reason it's been reported more in recent weeks is because the Biden regime - in its infinite wisdom - decided to highlight anti-Asian crimes, apparently in an attempt to showcase 'systemic American racism'.

But the clever campaign backfired when people cited readily available US federal statistics showing that the overwhelming majority of anti-Asian crimes in the USA are committed by Black people.

Multiple members of the white supremacist group, The Base, have been charged with killing a ram and posing with its head (above) following a 'ritual sacrifice' that involved them drinking the animal's blood while they were training for a race war in Georgie in 2019
Multiple members of a white supremacist group in rural Georgia have been charged with killing a ram and posing with its head following a 'ritual sacrifice' that involved them drinking the animal's blood while they were training for a race war.

Five members of The Base were charged earlier this month with killing the ram during what authorities have said was a 'ritual sacrifice' at the group's training camp in the small Georgia town of Rome back in 2019.

Patrik Mathews, William Garfield Bilbrough IV, Brian Mark Lemley Jr., Brandon Gregory Ashley and Duncan Christopher Trimmell have been charged with aggravated animal cruelty by a Floyd County grand jury, according to an indictment obtained by the Rome News-Tribune.

Everyone apart from Trimmell also were charged with livestock theft.

Three other members were charged in the animal's killing last year.

Investigators say the group stole the ram from a local property and tried to kill it with a knife during a meeting on the isolated property back on Halloween in 2019.

The men allegedly ended up shooting the ram and cutting off its head before drinking the animal's blood and posing for photos with it.

Prosecutors said the animal was killed in what they described as a 'Norse-pagan ritual'.
