BRICS: the China - India factor

BRICS flags
After a long-running buildup pinpointed by immense expectations all across the Global South, Global Majority, or "Global Globe" (as coined by Belarus President Lukashenko), the BRICS summit in South Africa, on its first day, revealed a "lost in translation" incident that should be taken as a serious warning.

The BRICS Business Forum feed on South African network SABC turned into a BRICS linguistic Babel. The voice of all the translators, simultaneously, was clashing on the feed. Explanations vary from the desire to forge a new Esperanto (not likely); plain incompetence from the sound engineering team; the isolation of the translators in a separate cabin, not warned to turn off their mikes; or last but not least, NSA interference, messing up with the translators' mic frequencies.

Whatever happened metastasized into a serious impediment for a South African - and international - audience, online, to understand what was being discussed. Even though "lost in translation" would not nullify the BRICS's ambitious agenda for change, it certainly will be played up to the max by the usual Divide and Rule suspects to boost their already in effect all-round Hybrid War against BRICS.

How the US and France created a Niger mess for themselves

The military coup in Niger is over three weeks old. The military government is cementing its rule, having gained the upper hand in the shadow play with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) backed by ex-colonial powers ravaging that desperately poor West African state rich in mineral wealth - France, Germany, and Italy - and the United States.

The prospects of Niger's pro-Western President Mohamed Bazoum being reinstated look dim. He is an ethnic Arab with a small power base in a predominantly African country, hailing from the migrant Ouled Slimane tribe, which has a history of being France's fifth column in the Sahel region locked in a struggle with the ancient Tuareg people, the large Berber group that principally inhabits the Sahara in a vast area stretching from Libya to Algeria, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and northern Nigeria.

ECOWAS lost the initiative once the coup leaders defied its August 6 deadline to release Bazoum and reinstate him on pain of military action. In fact, the coup leaders have since audaciously threatened the visiting US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland (who famously choreographed and navigated the transition following the coup in Ukraine in 2014) that they would physically eliminate Bazoum if she pushed the envelope.

Maui mayor refuses to answer how many of the 850 missing due to wildfires are children

Hawaii Gov. Josh Green (D) said that children are among the 850 residents who are still reported missing as authorities continue to search for causalities in the aftermath of the Maui wildfires.

In an appearance on CBS's "Face The Nation," Green told moderator Margaret Brennan that more than 100 residents were killed in the Lahaina wildfire. Green noted that there is a possibility that many of the children who are missing were at home due to school closures when the fires happened.

Maui Mayor Richard Bissen said Monday that 850 individuals are still missing, noting that this is a decrease from the 2,000 missing individuals who were initially reported. Bissen also said 27 of the 114 confirmed deceased victims have been identified.

Comment: In the video below we can hear how the residents are incensed that the authorities won't even provide a guesstimate for the number of children missing.

HRW report claims 'thousands' of migrants killed by Saudi border guards this year

Thousands of migrants have been slaughtered by Saudi border guards this year after they opened fire on them 'like rain' as they tried to cross through Yemen into the Gulf kingdom, a major report has found.

The Human Rights Watch report, released Monday, said some migrants, many of them from Ethiopia, were attacked at close range while others were fired on by mortar projectiles.

Many of the migrants reportedly had their legs severed and fingers shot off as their bodies were strewn across the trail.

The allegations, described as 'unfounded' by a Saudi government source, point to a significant escalation of abuses along the perilous 'Eastern Route' from the Horn of Africa to Saudi Arabia, where hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians live and work. The kingdom has previously rejected allegations of systemic killings.

Best of the Web: Scott Ritter: For NATO and Ukraine, Reality Bites

destroyed ukraine tank

There's an iconic scene in the 1990's cult classic movie, Reality Bites, where Leilaina, played by Winona Ryder, delivers the valedictory address. "What are we going to do now?" she asks, before following up with an even more pertinent question: "How can we repair all the damage we inherited?"

She then answers her questions with a plaintive, "I don't know."

In watching NATO and Ukrainian officials struggle to comprehend the reality of the situation they find themselves in, with the long-awaited and much-anticipated counteroffensive floundering against Russian defenses that have proved to be impenetrable, Leilaina's words came immediately to mind. Ukraine has dispatched the last of its strategic reserves, led by the elite 82nd Airlanding Brigade, into the battle for the Zaporozhye village of Rabotino. Here, in fields made fallow by conditions of war, Ukraine's best fighting forces have been eviscerated by Russian defenders who have refused to yield. Based upon the experience of the lead elements of the 82nd Brigade, this fate awaits them as well.

Comment: Indeed, Lukashenko outlined the reality facing Ukraine in the starkest terms:

Best of the Web: Dependency on the State is the core of the takeover plot of humanity

peasant painting
"It's not an endlessly expanding list of rights - the 'right' to health care, the 'right' to food and housing. That's not freedom, that's dependency. Those aren't rights, those are the rations of slavery - hay and a barn for human cattle."

P.J. O'Rourke
Most of you have entered the final stage of your voluntary acceptance of mass slavery, and that slavery is fully dependent on the concept of fear, compliance to a false 'authority,' and total dependence on the very tyrant called government, whose plan is to control the world by controlling the common, ignorant, and apathetic collective crowd called 'the people.'

The most vital component of this 'Great Reset' agenda, is for the majority to be dependent on the State, and that phenomenon is now close at hand.

The final foundation of all restriction, control of financial and monetary transactions, and control of movement, will hinge on the farcical fraud called manmade 'climate change.'

No worries however, because many other excuses, and aspects of control and manipulation will be used as well, but at this point, the 'climate change' hoax is the lynchpin of the future takeover plot.

'BRICS is now the hottest club in the world' - senior African diplomat

African nations can establish new trade alliances by working with the BRICS group of emerging economies, Tanzania's high commissioner to South Africa told RT in an exclusive interview on Sunday.

Maj Gen Gaudence Salim Milanzi said BRICS is "the hottest club in the world" and although Tanzania has not yet applied for membership, it sees opportunities in working with the bloc. A Tanzanian delegation will be attending the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg from August 22 to 24.

Milanzi explained that "BRICS offers an alternative to many other systems which we have now." African nations have traditionally traded with Western countries, but "we always look for other trading partners," and that is what BRICS can offer as well "as a huge economic bloc."

China's farming push is about preparing for potential war with the US

chinese farmers
© STR / AFP
In a bid to secure a domestic food supply and cut down reliance on foreign imports, China is expanding its farmlands. As explained by the newspaper the China Daily, "the rapidly ageing rural population has made it more challenging for China to ensure food security," bringing about a decline in the number of farmers and forcing the country to depend more on imported produce.

Since China is the world's second-most populous country, with over 1.4 billion people, it is natural that its food demands are astronomical and growing year on year, as the population eats more with development and imports increase accordingly.

But there is an additional, geopolitical element to China's sudden push for more farming. Using the word "food security" in the aforementioned article indicates that Beijing is well aware its growing reliance on foreign food imports represents a critical strategic risk for the country, one which can be leveraged to bring it to its knees. It might be implied that Beijing is preparing contingency plans for a potential war with the United States, and therefore must severely reduce its dependency on food imports, a great deal of which happen to come from the US itself.

Vucic believes Ukraine conflict crushing EU economy - Tucker Carlson

The former Fox News host discussed a "world reset" with the Serbian president...

Tucker Carlson has shared a preview of his interview with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in which he says the Balkan leader shared an "interesting perspective" on what is happening in Ukraine, given that his own country was bombed by NATO in 1999.

In a brief video shared on his X (aka Twitter) account, the former Fox News host revealed what Vucic told him during an interview, yet to be released, recorded at the Serbian Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.
"One of the points he made is that the war in Ukraine, the war against Russia led by NATO, has crushed the European economy. The destruction of Nord Stream by the Biden administration, either directly or through proxies, is killing the German economy...and so the downstream effects of that, one NATO country effectively attacking another NATO country are felt throughout Europe."
Carlson characterized the situation as "completely crazy," noting that the German economy is the largest economy in Europe by far.

Hawaii state government attempts information blackout on Maui fire - refuses media access

Green
© dnyuz.comHawaii's Democratic Governor Josh Green
The West Maui disaster is becoming less about the fire and more about the government's bizarre response to the aftermath. Independent media sources and some mainstream media sources have confirmed multiple instances of the Democrat controlled government's mismanagement that led to the escalation of the tragedy.

The circus included a woke water management bureaucrat who believes water is "godlike" and that it must be distributed according to the rules of "equity"; the same official withheld vital firefighting resources for a day while Maui burned. The state government has been thoroughly embarrassed, but instead of responding with humility, they have doubled down and gone on the attack.

The Governor of Hawaii, Josh Green, took a wild swing at independent reporting, telling people not to listen to information from social media and "influencers." It's hard to say what his definition of an "influencer" is, only that he is clearly hostile to anyone reporting news outside of the government narrative. Green's disapproval of media reporting is not limited to alternative journalists, however. It appears that there is now an information blackout being instituted by the state. Corporate journalists are also being denied access to the area of the fire damage path as well as access to any details surrounding the investigation into how the fires may have started.
