Recent reports that whistleblower Edward Snowden will be "gifted" to President Trump are meant to scandalize public opinion and show that the new administration continues to face pressure from opponents, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.

"Today, US intelligence agencies have stepped up their work, updating two stale stories, 'Russia can gift Snowden to Trump' and 'confirmation found on the details of the scandalous dossier on Trump allegedly collected by an ex-employee of British intelligence.' But it may seem so only to those who do not understand the essence of the game," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday.

The situation with piracy in international waters of the greater Middle East region has improved significantly, Canadian Commodore Haydn Edmundson told Sputnik.

"Piracy was a really big issue several years ago," Edmundson said on Friday. "There has been a notable reduction in the number of significant piracy events. The piracy situation in the region is definitely diminished."

Edmundson is the Commander of Combined Task Force 150 and Operation ARTEMIS, which is Canada's contribution to maritime security and counterterrorism operations in the international waters of the greater Middle East region, including the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, and Gulf of Oman.

The commodore noted that a number of countries, including China, Russia and the European Union, have sent naval forces to carry out counter-piracy operations in the region.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders slammed President Donald Trump on Twitter, saying his recent tweeting attacks on the courts and the media show that he "clearly does not understand what our Constitution is about."

The former Democratic presidential candidate and progressive Congressman responded to tweets Trump sent Thursday.

Trump used all-caps to respond to the decision by the ninth circuit court of appeals to uphold a temporary hold on the president's controversial travel ban on members of seven Muslim-majority countries. He wrote: "SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!"

U.S. Democrats call for Michael Flynn's dismissal after reported Russian sanctions talk

U.S. Democrats have called for an investigation into whether White House national security adviser Michael Flynn discussed U.S. sanctions against Russia with Moscow's ambassador to the United States while President Barack Obama was still in office.

The lawmakers contended on February 10 that the phone conversations being widely reported by U.S. media may have broken U.S. law barring private citizens from conducting foreign policy.

The White House said President Donald Trump has "full confidence" in Flynn, who has told reporters he "can't be certain" whether he discussed sanctions with Sergei Kislyak in late December when Obama was formulating a new round of sanctions against Russia.

Democratic Senators Ed Markey and Chris Murphy called for an investigation of Flynn while other Democrats demanded that Trump dismiss him.

Bernie Sanders is the latest in a growing list of people to be CNN'd — that is, to have the mic mysteriously cut during an interview — when the former presidential candidate dared to barb the outlet as Fake News.

CNN anchor Erin Burnett interviewed Sanders on the incendiary contention concerning National Security Advisor General Michael Flynn's phone call with Russia's ambassador to the United States, and whether or not sanctions and cooperation were discussed — before President Trump took office.

After then showing Sanders a clip of Trump stating he had not heard about the Flynn controversy, Burnett asked,

The European Union's foreign-policy chief says she is optimistic that U.S. President Donald Trump's administration will remain committed to the terms of the Iran nuclear deal following her talks with top officials in Washington.

Federica Mogherini made the comments on February 10 following her meetings at the White House and the State Department, where she said she also discussed Russia with Trump administration officials.

Trump has repeatedly blasted the landmark deal between Iran and world powers that restricts Tehran's nuclear activities in exchange for some sanctions relief.

Credibility gap: NBC media report claims Snowden to be 'gifted' to Trump; Snowden claims it is 'evidence I never worked for Russia'

While there may be little credibility to the latest US media report claiming Moscow will present President Donald Trump with former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, the whistleblower pointed to it as "irrefutable evidence" of his lack of any ties with Russian intelligence.

"Finally: irrefutable evidence that I never cooperated with Russian intel. No country trades away spies, as the rest would fear they're next," Snowden wrote on his Twitter. While it was not immediately clear if he was being sarcastic or seriously concerned, the CIA employee-turned-whistleblower accompanied his tweet with several pre-inauguration retweets from January, when the topic of Snowden becoming Vladimir Putin's gift to Trump was all the rage in US media.

Speaking to Katie Couric in December, Snowden used a similar argument when asked about his feelings on possible extradition to the US. Admitting that he is concerned for his life and liberty, the whistleblower argued that on the other hand an extradition would be an excellent proof of his independence.

"I'm actually kind of encouraged... It wasn't so many years ago that people were saying, 'This guy's a Russian spy.' But countries don't give up their spies," the renowned whistleblower told Couric, alleging that as a critic of the Russian government policies he might have turned into a burden for Moscow. The whistleblower went on to suggest that his handover to the US authorities would clear him of any suspicion and serve as a "vindication...of the fact that I have always worked on behalf of the United States."

Comment: Of all things to call Snowden, "coward" isn't one of them. Without his legacy of information and revelations, Trump might not be where he is today; Americans would be farther in darkness and the sins of the pathocracy would never come to light or be brought to justice.

Trump says US embassy in Tel Aviv is not going anywhere

Apparently Israel's capital city of Tel Aviv will have to host the US embassy for a little longer. According to media reports, US President Donald Trump is not interested in moving his country's embassy to Jerusalem any time soon.

Trump is not inclined to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, according to Israeli media reports, despite making several assertions on the topic during his campaign.

According to various Israeli media citing Palestinian media, Palestinian Authority leaders have received a "reassuring" message from the Trump administration. The reports also say US security officials spoke directly to Palestinian intelligence head Majid Faraj.

While these reports are yet to be confirmed, Trump had already been presenting a more moderate position, notably during an interview for Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom.
"I am thinking about the embassy, I am studying the embassy [issue], and we will see what happens," Trump reportedly said earlier. "The embassy is not an easy decision. It has obviously been out there for many, many years, and nobody has wanted to make that decision. I'm thinking about it very seriously, and we will see what happens."
