Best of the Web: Trump and Putin: Against the dark forces of the Deep State

It was pleasing to see Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin greet each other cordially at the G20 summit. After their breakthrough first meeting, one hopes the two leaders have a personal foundation for future cooperation.

At a later press conference in Hamburg, where the G20 summit was held, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he believed there was a chance for restoring the badly frayed US-Russia relations. He praised Trump for being thoughtful and rational. "The TV Trump is quite different from the real life one," quipped Putin.

Meanwhile, the White House issued a statement hailing the two-hour discussion (four times longer than originally scheduled) between the two leaders as a good start to working together on major world problems.

"No problems were solved. Nobody expected any problems to be solved in that meeting. But it was a beginning of a dialogue on some tough problem sets that we'll begin now to work on together," said HR McMaster, Trump's top national security adviser.

John Podesta's emails reveal 75 corrupt and/or potentially criminal actions

Yesterday President Donald Trump tweeted from the G20 in Germany:

John Podesta was triggered by President Trump's tweet and responded with a tweetstorm of seven tweets attacking the President. Based on his response, it was clear that President Trump got under corrupt Podesta's skin with his tweet. As a result the President happened to trigger one of the most corrupt politicians in Democrat and US history.

John Podesta has held numerous positions in his career in politics and with the Federal government. He started his career in the 1970's in lower level federal jobs before reaching the highest levels of the Democrat Party working as White House Chief of Staff for Bill Clinton, Special Advisor to Barack Obama and in 2016 Campaign Chair for Hillary Clinton. The fact that Podesta is so high up in the impeached and corrupt Clinton and Obama administrations speaks volumes about Podesta's seedy character.

He also is known for being the Chair of the Center for American Progress (CAP) which "boasts extensive ties to donor George Soros, the Democratic Party and both the Clinton and Obama Administrations." CAP faces controversies for being a rehabilitative employment opportunity for progressive activists and for being anti-Semitic and for reporting errors. CAP is also is accused of being the nerve center for the left wing, including being the manufacturer of anti-Trump propaganda.

Although there are reports that Podesta is closely tied with David Brock from Media Matters, who has created plans to prevent free speech by attacking conservative websites like the Gateway Pundit. Podesta emails show that he can't stand Brock.

Podesta has a history of seedy and alleged illegal activity. The late Andrew Breitbart, entrepreneur and creator of Breitbart.com knew this back in 2012 (warning on language):

Comment: Is Podesta, like Killary and Billary, so corrupt he is untouchable?

CNN's disgraceful downfall may be one of the most momentous events happening in the world right now

CNN liar
CNN seems to finally be learning that the harder it struggles against the tar pit of public resentment that it has created for itself, the faster it will sink. Its pundits are not pushing back against the #CNNBlackmail fury with anywhere near the pompous intensity with which they fought Trump's wrestling tweet or the incriminating Project Veritas videos, instead opting to quietly move the news churn along in the hope that this will all go away in a few days.

It won't.

We're past critical mass now, and this is without a doubt the hottest that the media war has ever gotten. Never before have we seen such a widespread and concerted grassroots assault on the lies and manipulations of the deep state's propaganda machine. Never before has the unelected US power establishment's grip on public consciousness been this tenuous. This is a very exciting time to be alive.

Doha is threatening to sue Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt for their ongoing blockade and has set up a special body to investigate claims and calculate the losses to the public and private sector as well as individuals.

The Compensation Claims Committee will study the degree of the economic damage suffered by Qatari nationals and business as a result of the ongoing diplomatic and economic blockade by the four Arab states.

"This committee will receive all claims, whether, from the public sector, private sector or individuals," Attorney General Ali bin Fetais al-Marri announced Sunday in Doha.

Delusional Nikki Haley: 'We cannot trust Russia & we won't ever trust Russia'

"Everyone" knows Russia not only interfered in the US' 2016 elections, but that it also continues to do so "across multiple continents," US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said in an interview with CNN, adding that "the US won't ever trust Russia."

"Everybody knows that Russia meddled in our elections. Everybody knows that they're not just meddling in the United States' election. They're doing this across multiple continents, and they're doing this in a way that they're trying to cause chaos within the countries," Haley told CNN's State of the Union show.

Haley's comments came on the same day US President Donald Trump tweeted out that "it was time to move forward in working constructively with Russia" and a day after he said, "I had a tremendous meeting yesterday with [Russian] President Putin" on Saturday.

Germany has begun the process of withdrawing its troops from the Turkish Incirlik Air Base, from where German troops have been carrying out reconnaissance missions as part of the US-led coalition's campaign in Syria and Iraq. The move follows tensions with Ankara.

The process of transferring military aircraft and personnel from the Turkish airbase to a new location in Jordan will result in the suspension of German participation within the US-led coalition for at least two or three months, the German Defense Ministry said earlier.

German troops, an air refueling tanker, equipment and aircraft parts left Incirlik for Jordan's Al-Asrak base Sunday, Germany's defense ministry spokesman confirmed to Reuters and the dpa news agency.

Top Chinese defense official says Beijing has 'zero contact' with North Korean military

China's contact with the North Korean military has been reduced to "zero," but Beijing still strongly opposes sanctions being imposed on Pyongyang, a top Chinese defense official noted, saying the shift indicates cracks in the long-time allies' relations.

The decline in military-to-military ties clearly reflects the current state of relations between Beijing and Pyongyang, Senior Colonel Zhou Bo, director of the Chinese Defense Ministry's Center for International Security Cooperation, said in a rare interview with Channel News Asia.

Asked if Chinese military officials are in regular contact with their North Korean counterparts, he said, "No, not at all. We have zero contact with them right now."

Israel is the litmus test for the new Russia-US-Jordan ceasefire

map of Golan Heights
The location of the new US-Russian-Jordanian ceasefire is a key element of the deal. It covers the parts of Syria that Israel has been bombing almost continuously over the last weeks. Israel's response is therefore the litmus test for the ceasefire's material success.

Now that the political dust from the handshake of the century between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump has settled, it is time to turn to the material consequences of the most important tangible item to come out of the meeting: the ceasefire in south western Syria.

Most crucially, this ceasefire covers areas in Quneitra Governorate which covers the Golan Heights. Much of Quneitra has been illegally occupied by Israel since 1967 and in the last weeks it was from the Israeli occupied portion of the territory that numerous illegal airstrikes have been conducted with Israeli weapons aimed at and in most cases hitting Syrian targets.

Encouraged by its recent victories against ISIS, Iraq strikes a huge military deal with Russia

Russian tank
The Iraqi government has signed a huge military deal with Russia.

On Saturday, the day when the Iraqi forces finally liberated Mosul, Iraq's second largest city, from the grip of ISIS, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense made an official announcement, saying it has made a deal with Russia on delivering 73 T-90 tanks to Iraqi Army, following months of negotiations with Russian military officials.

The T-90S MBT and T-90SK battle tanks will reportedly greatly improve the arsenal of the Iraqi Army, which has, until now, predominantly relied on T-72, T-55 and BMP-1 armored vehicles, as well as the American-made M1A1 Abrams, and which were also used in recent campaign against ISIS.

The ugly truth about the minimum wage

Minimum Wage
© Steemit
"OK, here's an idea no one's thought of before. You know how fast-food workers are organizing in the US right now to fight for a $15/hour minimum wage? That's stupid. They're still going to be just scraping by on a wage like that. So why not make it something that'll really make a difference? Why not $150/hour?

"Think about it: At $150/hour, they'll have to work only a few hours a week to make the same money they're making working full-time right now. Or if they continue to work full- time, then they'll be earning a six-digit annual income! Pretty soon everyone will be rich!

"Brilliant, right? Fight for $15? Pffffffffff, that's for slaves. Fight for $150, that's what I say!"

You might think this is a parody of the Let's Raise the Minimum Wage school of bad economics. You might even think it's a sophisticated meta-parody of the people who parody the Fight for $15 campaign. But sadly, neither scenario is the case.
