Amid clashes with the supporters of the former Yemen's president, the Houthi rebels seized the Yemen Today channel's station building, trapping journalists inside.

The Yemeni Houthi rebels will free the journalists they are holding in a TV channel's building in Sanaa after investigative procedures, Houthi politburo member Halima Jahaf told Sputnik on Tuesday. "I do not have exact information about the journalists, who they are, but they will be held for some time only to determine the circumstances, they will be released," Jahaf said.

According to the Houthi official, many of those who were held hostage were recently freed and "they are not complaining about violations."

On Saturday the Houthis stormed Yemen Today broadcaster's headquarters, taking some 40 people hostage. A freelance correspondent working for Sputnik in Yemen went missing after rebels took over the TV station and has not made contact in 24 hours.

The takeover of the channel station occurred amid violent clashes provoked by the breakdown of the fragile alliance between the Houthis and Yemen's ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh. The violent conflict resulted in the Houthis gaining full control over the city, announcing the "end of crisis" after the shocking killing of Saleh.

Comment: The death of Saleh may be seen as a game changer. His sudden absence creates a responding shift, unlikely for the better. See also:

Victim's testimony provides evidence of US child trafficking ring linked to elite network

child trafficking US
A former child trafficking victim is speaking out and backed up by evidence exposing a massive multistate criminal operation tied to politicians, heads of state and the mafia.

It is no longer a secret that throughout all levels of the Hollywood establishment there is rampant sexual abuse. However, this massive ousting of pedophiles and sex abusers is leading to a place in which some of society's worst abusers make a living off your tax dollars-Washington D.C.

In a bombshell interview with Disobedient Media, Greg Bucceroni, a survivor of sex trafficking, described his experiences in an alleged child sex ring in the late 1970's and early 1980's that primarily targeted troubled young boys on the East Coast. The network was said to be comprised of known human traffickers, abusers and producers of child pornography with ties to organized crime who openly associated with prominent political figures, including some who have been accused of indiscretions in the past, according to DM.

Former Israeli PM: Arthur Finkelstein's political influence ruined Israel

Over the weekend, former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak published an op-ed in the New York Times, saying Israel needs to be saved from Benjamin Netanyahu, and spoke at the Saban Forum in Washington, arguing that Netanyahu, not Iran, poses an "existential threat" to Israel because he is slowly annexing the West Bank and undermining Israel's "moral high ground" in the "advanced" world.

Netanyahu has solidified his power by touching fascistic chords in the Israeli public, Barak said. "Any ultra-national movement - I don't want to use the word fascist" - heightens the awareness of "enemies" who can never be reconciled, Barak said. The result is identity values: "[Israeli Jews] want to belong to a group, they respect authority, they hold certain things sacred."

Neocons run amok while Kim smiles

Merry Christmas to one and all from North Korea. Glorious Leader Kim Jong-un unwrapped a wonderful new intercontinental missile, the Hwasong-15, which experts believe might be capable of reaching Los Angeles, New York and Washington, depending on the weight of its nuclear warhead.

This was the big, earth-shaking story until Gen. Michael Flynn's guilty plea in Washington seemed an even bigger bombshell than North Korea's nukes. As of now, the Flynn scandal looks like a tempest in a teapot - unless FBI Inquisitors can produce real evidence that the wicked Russians were doing anything more in cahoots with Trump & Co. than all major powers, including the US, routinely do.

As a former French prime minister so well put it, 'all government is permanent conspiracy.'

Dem governors considering lawsuit to stop GOP tax bill

Andrew Cuomo

Governors of three high-tax states said Monday they're considering suing to stop the GOP-backed tax overhaul that limits deductions for state and local taxes.

"We are looking at the legality now. This is double taxation. They are taxing the taxes," said Gov. Cuomo during a conference call with California Gov. Jerry Brown and New Jersey Gov.-elect Phil Murphy.

"This is from the party that is against taxation. This takes from the richest states and has them subsidize a tax cut for the less wealthy states. It may well be illegal and unconstitutional."

Brown said the tax plan, which Republican lawmakers insist will spur the economy, will not only negatively affect high-tax states but the country as a whole.

Insouciant America is walking into Armageddon to protect the military-industrial complex

Nuclear explosion
Dear Readers: It is December and time for my quarterly call for your support of your site. I do this site for you. I have no ego reasons for the website. In fact, it uses up my retirement years when I could otherwise relax.

From time to time some of you admonish me for describing our plight without providing a solution. Possibly, there is no solution. If there is a solution, it won't be found until enough Americans arise from insouciance and escape from the Matrix to be concerned. My job is to inform. In my column below, I cite former Defense Secretary William Perry who says, "If we are to prevent this catastrophe, the public must understand what is happening."

First comes the understanding part. Then the solution part. We are far from sufficient understanding, and we might be prevented from achieving an understanding. When the Clinton regime concentrated 90 percent of the US media in six mega-corporations, it gave the ruling elite control over explanations. The only information diversity that we have is provided via the Internet, and there is plenty of unreliable information on Internet sites. It is a big effort and takes time to learn what sites are trustworthy.

SOTT Focus: The US-Inspired Olympic Ban on Russia: Another Pyrrhic Victory for the Ailing Empire of Chaos

russia ban olympics
USA: 'No Russians allowed because the world is OURS!'
According to the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) most recent results (2014), the leading sports doping offenders are as follows: Russia (148), Italy (123), India (96), Belgium (91), France (91), Turkey (73), Australia (49), China (49), Brazil (46) and South Korea (43).

What hasn't been made clear is that these figures encompass all sports, not just Olympic sports
. As an example, of Australia's 49 offenses, 20 of them came in Rugby League. Should that be used in deciding whether or not to ban Australia from competing in the Olympics? Obviously not.

What also hasn't been made clear is that it is irrelevant to look at the absolute number of transgressions of any nation in making a decision on whether or not to impose a ban. We would expect the US, for example, to have a much higher number of athletes caught doping than Fiji because the US has far more athletes than that tiny nation. Likewise, it makes sense that Russia would have more athletes caught doping than, say, Bolivia.

Russian lawmakers pass motion barring media outlets recognized as foreign agents from entering Russian lower house

Russian lawmakers have passed a motion officially barring reporters working for media outlets recognized as foreign agents from entering the lower house of the country's parliament as a symmetrical response to sanctions applied to RT in the US.

The motion, prepared by the State Duma Regulations Committee, states that the lower house sees as inadmissible any moves targeting basic human rights and freedoms, in particular, the freedom of speech and free access to information. The document emphasizes that the entry ban is a response to a move by the US Department of Justice, which ordered RT America to register as a foreign agent.

In the same statement, lawmakers proposed that Russian regional legislatures undertake similar measures. Earlier this week, the upper house of the Russian parliament also introduced an entry ban on journalists who work for mass-media outlets recognized as foreign agents.

Nothing to see here folks: US certifies government of Honduran puppet Hernandez 'clean' of corruption and human rights abuses

honduras election 2017
Honduras has witnessed tens of thousands of protesters flooding the streets of the capital, Tegucigalpa, over the disputed results of the election, which they claim was stolen from challenger Salvador Nasralla, although the electoral tribunal has not declared a winner.
Allegations of corruption and human rights abuses by the incumbent Hernandez government in Honduras can safely be put to rest.

Allegations of corruption and human rights abuses in Honduras' following last Sunday's contested presidential elections can safely be put to rest now that the government of incumbent President Juan Hernandez has been certified as clean by no less authoritative body than the U.S. Department of State.

Or can it?

According to Reuters, the U.S. State Department has certified the anti-corruption and human rights-supporting bona fides of the Hernandez administration, clearing the way for Honduras to receive millions of dollars in U.S. aid.

Crumbling military: US F-35 loses panel during training mission in Okinawa

The US Air Force has encountered yet another issue with its aircraft in Okinawa, after an F-35 jet lost a panel during a "routine training mission." It comes just months after several US aircraft were forced to make emergency landings on the same day.

The F-35A Lightning II lost a two-foot-wide (0.6-meter) panel during the routine mission last week, the Air Force said. "The item was discovered missing by the pilot's wingman as the fighter jets were coming in for landing," a news release from 18th Wing Public Affairs said on Monday, as quoted by Defense News. It was confirmed as missing after a post-flight inspection.

Japan's Nippon News Network became aware of the incident long before it was confirmed by the US military. The outlet apparently documented the plane flying without the panel on November 30, the day that the incident occurred.

The panel was "most likely lost over the ocean," the release states, as quoted by Stars and Stripes. The statement failed to note whether the missing panel would cause any issues with the aircraft's performance. "As a matter of policy, we do not discuss the details or specifics of our training or operations," it said.
