Adapt 2030 Ice Age Report: Water returns to ancient cities & river channels after 3000+ years of drought

Afghanistan flooding
© The NationAt least 60 people have been killed in flash floods across 13 provinces in Afghanistan in May 2018.
With river channels filling after thousands of years of being dry in Afghanistan, and also next to abandoned ruins and the same thing happening in east Africa as lakes not full since the end of the mid-Holocene refilling, we seriously need to ask ourselves if this isn't a 3000 year + cycle we are repeating, not just a regular 400 year Grand Solar Minimum.

Adapt 2030 Ice Age Report: Atmospheric rivers increase in size, floods and winds globally exceed the norm

ellicot city flooding
Two years after '1-in-1,000-year event' floods Maryland, Ellicott City and Baltimore inundated AGAIN
Coincidentally there has been a global news push of the Geophysical Letter's Research about intensifying Ark or Atmospheric Rivers increasing in intensity over the last month. Now we see that across the globe, indeed these ARK storms and wind events are bringing incredible dust and salt storms, record flooding and electrified skies that frighten country populations.

After making landfall as a Subtropical Storm near Laguna Beach in Florida on 28 May, Alberto has continued to move north as a Subtropical Depression, bringing heavy rain to areas that had already seen one of the wettest Mays on record.

As of 31 May, 2018, North Carolina was by far the worst hit state. Flooding has affected areas of Alabama and Georgia, as well as parts of Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

The deadly Banquao Dam failure of 1975 and how extreme rainfall in the US has been rising since 1990

Banqiao Dam
© Wikimedia Commons. An aerial view of the Banqiao Dam following its failure as a result of mainland China's greatest 24-hour rainfall, which took place in Henan Province during the passage of Typhoon Nina in early August 1975. As many as 230,000 perished as a result of the dam collapse.
In early August 1975, Typhoon Nina made landfall along the coast of China near Shanghai. The storm weakened as it moved inland and merged with a cold front that straddled Henan Province (in central China), resulting in the development of a series of near-stationary thunderstorms in and around the town of Linzhuang. The greatest short-term rainfall event in modern Chinese records ensued: some 1060 mm (41.73") of rain fell in just 24 hours. The Banqiao Dam on the Ru River near Linzhuang, failed as a result of the rains and collapsed on August 7-8, sending a wave some 6 miles wide and 10-23 feet deep across the plains below. As a result some 100,000-230,000 people perished. By some accounts, this makes Typhoon Nina the fourth-deadliest tropical storm in modern world history.

The wide range in fatality estimates is because many of the deaths occurred as a result of famine and disease following the flood itself. The exact figures for each source of fatalities remains obscure. If the high-end figure of 230,000 is correct, then the event would rank as not only the fourth-deadliest tropical storm on record but perhaps the sixth-deadliest natural disaster of any kind since 1900. The caveat to these kinds of listings, however, is that when tremendous numbers like this are involved there are huge discrepancies in the range of fatalities attributed to each event (as was the case with the Banqiao Dam disaster). These discrepancies can be seen in Wikipedia's list of the top 10 deadliest natural disasters since 1900. The list uses the highest estimate for the Banqiao Dam disaster.

SOTT Focus: Floods Everywhere: Europe Battered By Sheets Of Rain, Hail and Thunderstorms

mudslide
© Facebook/Jeannette Quadvlieg-van DamMuddy waters enter a house in the Dutch province of Limburg
The Dutch southern province of Limburg was hit by torrential rains and hail on Tuesday May 22nd. Streets, basements, and highways were flooded as a result. A couple of days ago, torrential rains hit the region for a second time, this time causing mud flows.

The deluge of mud hit primarily in the Dutch villages of Berg and Terblijt. Muddy waters reached some of the houses, causing damage. Other villages near the Dutch city of Maastricht, as well as the villages Bemelen and Cadier en Keer also reported serious flooding. According to the Dutch national weather forecasting service, between 20 and 44 mm of rain fell in a very short period of time.

The events in Holland were just one small example of widespread flooding that hit many areas of Europe. Over the past week, areas of Belgium, France, Germany, the UK, Spain and Italy were all inundated as a result of intense localized downpours.
