A 58-year-old woman died Monday night after she was attacked by her dog in South Toledo.

First responders found Bonnie Varnes severely injured in the backyard of her home in the 800 block of Wright Avenue at about 6 p.m., a police report said.

Ms. Varnes was unconscious and transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, where she died, the report said.

She died from bite injuries to her head, face, and neck, said Dr. Diane Scala-Barnett, Lucas County coroner. The death was ruled accidental.

A newborn baby has died in hospital from horrific head injuries after being viciously attacked by her family's two dogs.

Two Rottweiler-type dogs got a hold of the five-week-old baby girl at the family home in Moruya, on NSW's far south coast, on Saturday night around 10.40pm.

NSW Ambulance paramedics confirmed to Daily Mail Australia they were called to the home following reports a baby had been attacked by dogs.

However upon arriving at 10.45pm they were told the baby had already been rushed to Moruya Hospital by private car.

The baby died there shortly after midnight.

In a horrifying incident that took place in Hyderabad, a four-year-old child was mauled to death by street dogs on Sunday and the entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera.

In the video, the child is seen walking down a street, when three dogs run at him, attacking him and manage to pin him down. The young child had sustained injuries to his stomach and passed away before making it to the hospital.

The young child was identified as, Pradeep, son of Gangadhar, a resident of Erukula Basti, in Bagh Amberpet. According to officials, the attack took place outside an automobile workshop, where the child's father was working as a watchman. The distraught father had brought his two children to work on the fateful day.

An 85-year-old woman is dead following an alligator attack in Florida, according to officials.

The attack took place Monday at a living community near Fort Pierce for people ages 55 and older.

Witnesses said the woman was walking her dog when the alligator grabbed the dog. The woman tried to get the dog away before the alligator attacked her.

The dog survived.

A shark has killed a 59-year-old Australian tourist near a crowded beach in the French Pacific territory of New Caledonia.

The man was swimming close to a pontoon about 150 metres from the beach in the capital, Nouméa, on Sunday when the shark attacked, biting him several times, authorities said.

Two people sailing their boat nearby took him back to the beach, where emergency services tried to save him. He had major wounds to his leg and both arms and died at the scene, despite receiving cardiac massage.

Many people were in the water at the time and witnessed the attack at the Chateau-Royal beach just south of Nouméa. There was a panicked rush back on to the beach and police evacuated the area.

A wild tiger jumped through a window of a house before mauling a 19-year-old fisherman in eastern Russia.

The emaciated predator smashed through the glass as it pounced, seriously injuring the man.

His cousin reached for a gun and shot the Siberian tiger, the world's largest cat, dead.

Angler Sergey Kyalundzyuga was in the house on a fishing trip with two others when the tiger suddenly smashed through the window.

A source said: "They heard a noise outside. Sergey went to the window, and then a male tiger flew into it, breaking the glass with his head."


Comment: A contributing factor regarding these tiger attacks in the Khabarovsk region maybe the recent extremely cold temperatures experienced throughout Siberia, perhaps resulting a food prey shortage (or inaccessibility) for these large predators.
Residents of northern Siberia and the Russian Far East are enduring a major cold snap this week as thermostats fall far below 0 degrees Celsius.

On Jan. 23, the temperature in Yakutsk dropped to minus 45 degrees Celsius (minus 49 Fahrenheit).

Three dolphins died Saturday after becoming stranded in shallow water off Sandy Hook, the latest large marine mammals to wash up dead at the Jersey Shore this winter.

The dolphins were spotted floundering in the water shortly after 11 a.m.. and a call went out to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine. As a small crowd gathered, a rescue team headed up the Garden State Parkway and volunteers headed to Sandy Hook to keep onlookers away from the dolphins, who were thrashing around in the water close to the shoreline.

Video posted to Twitter by photographer Matthew Renk showed the animals struggling in the surf.

A 7-year-old boy died after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs near his house in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur.

The incident took place on Saturday evening when the boy, Kanha, was playing in the field next to his house in Bilaspur village in the Gangoh Police Station area.

According to sources, the boy kept crying for help, but by the time villagers reached to rescue him, he had succumbed to his injuries.

They said villagers shooed the dogs away and recovered the boy's body and went to his house.

Saudi archaeologists have discovered the longest pre-Islamic Musnad inscription -of the ancient south Arabian script- and three gold rings and a bronze bull's head at the Al Ukhdud excavation site in the Najran region.

The Kingdom's Heritage Commission announced on its official Twitter account that archaeologists have unearthed pre-Islamic artifacts in a region in southern Saudi Arabia.

The commission stated that the discoveries "shed a unique light on the ancient culture" that was present in southern Saudi Arabia. The commission called the discovery "exciting" and the finds "rare".

The Atlantic Marine Conservation Society was notified at 9 a.m. Friday that a dead minke whale was on the shoreline, according to a post from the group.

The 25-foot long mammal had several wounds across its body that appeared to have happened before it died, but its cause of death was still pending the results of a necropsy examination.

However, there were was additional evidence of blunt force trauma indicating that whale may have died from a vessel strike, the society said in an updated post.

Additional testing was still needed to confirm that.
