Calgary just broke a weather record dating back more than half a century.

This past month marked the fifth snowiest November that YYC had seen since the record began, and the snowiest November that the city had experienced since 1966!

According to YYC Weather Records, the Twitter account keeping track of these sorts of things, Calgary saw a grand total of 47.4 cm of snowfall between November 1 and November 30, 2019.

4 Renowned scientists expose major IPCC shortcomings: "Models Clearly Erroneous"

The Munich Climate Conference 2019

Last weekend the climate conference by the Germany-based European Institute for Climate and Energy EIKE took place in Munich, despite threats by leftist radicals.

More than a dozen leading international climate experts presented views that severely challenge mainstream alarmist climate science.

1. Alps glaciers smaller than today during much of the Holocene

Among the speakers was Prof. em. Christian Schlüchter is a leading Swiss geologist who studied the glaciers of the Alps in great detail for decades. In his talk he reported his findings from very old timber found in and below glaciers, and what those ancient tree remnants tell us about the glacial epochs of the Alps.

World Snow Wrap, December 6 - Huge snow totals again in California, more snow in Europe and Japan

While summer snowfalls in Australia generated a bit of novelty value early this week, the real action is in the Northern Hemisphere, as it should be at this time of year with significant snowfalls in the US, Europe and Japan. The totals coming out of California are huge with seven-day totals of 2.4 metres and there is more on the way with another three-day storm set to drop 70-80cms by early next week. If you're on the fence about escaping the heat, smoke, bushfires and blue bottles of an Australian summer read on, you may just be convinced to book that airfare for somewhere cold and snowy.

USA

The Sierras are renowned for big storm totals and the past week is a very good example, from zero snow a week ago to seven-day totals of one to 2.4metres on the upper mountains, Kirkwood in California with the top reading. Not surprisingly, avalanche danger is high and mountain ops teams have been working hard to manage the snow and get more lifts and terrain open at all the Tahoe resorts for the weekend. There is a break in the storm action now, but not for long with another strong storm set to deliver 30-95cms for California from Friday night through to Sunday. Mammoth is looking good for 45cms at the base and double that up high, which will lead to more terrain opening over the next week.

The beautiful and majestic snowy owl has made its return to Wisconsin.

"At least 20" snowy owls have been documented in Wisconsin as of November 25, the state Department of Natural Resources says.

The owls have been spotted in 12 counties so far, ranging as far north as Bayfield and Door County, and as far south as Milwaukee County. Most of the owls photographed so far are adults, which the DNR says suggests a low number of births on arctic breeding grounds during the summer.

Michigan's snow season already adding up, one location almost at 5 FEET of snow

Lake effect snow piles on West Michigan

Almost every location in Michigan has received above average snowfall to date in this early part of the snow season.

Some of the snow totals are mind boggling for early December.

Obviously the highest snow totals have been posted across the Upper Peninsula. Much of the northern half of the U.P. has received at least 2 feet of snow already. The highest seasonal snow total I've found is Chatham, MI, which is between Marquette and Munising and 10 miles from the Lake Superior shoreline. Chatham has already tallied 58.6 inches of snow.

Here's a map showing the snow totals so far this season. I hesitate to use the word "winter" because meteorological winter just started Dec. 1 and astronomical winter doesn't start until around Dec. 21.

Australia just suffered its coldest Summer day on record - Mainstream media silent

Thredbo top station, Australia
Australia's record lowest Summer daily-max temperature has just been broken, as reported by www.weatherzone.com.au.

A brutal Antarctica air-mass blasted southeastern Australia during the opening days of summer, pumping deep snow into parts of Tasmania, Victoria and NSW, as well as limiting temperatures to as much as 15C below the seasonal average.

On Tuesday, December 03, Thredbo Top Station's highest recording was a mere -1.0C (30.2F) — this was Australia's lowest summer daily maximum temperature of all time, busting the -0.8C (30.6F) measured at Mount Buller on Dec 25, 2006 (approaching the historically deep solar minimum of cycle 23).

Furthermore, an overnight low of -4.0C (24.8F) was observed at Tasmania's Mount Wellington early Wednesday morning, Australia's lowest summer temperature in four years.

Potent winter storm dumps up to 3 feet of snow in Northeast USA

snow totals
A major storm that began across the country just before Thanksgiving is slowly winding down off the far eastern coast of New England. The first snowstorm of the season dumped 3 feet of snow in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, and blanketed many other states with upwards of 2 feet of snow.

The storm arrived in the region late Saturday but ramped up on Sunday, which led to broken records and disastrous travel conditions.

"A typical nor'easter will produce accumulating snow for 10 to 16 hours in any one spot, but this one caused accumulating snow over a large area for more than 24 hours. In parts of New England, it ended up being about 36 hours," AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Bowers said.

2 feet of new snow in Sierra, 6 feet in a week above Tahoe

Sierra snowpack
Sierra snowpack
More than 2 feet of new snow has fallen in the Sierra, where more than 6 feet has been recorded the past seven days at the top of some Lake Tahoe-area ski resorts, the National Weather Service said Monday.

A winter storm warning that was in place most of the holiday weekend expired at 10 a.m. Monday. But chain controls remained in effect on most mountain passes, including U.S. Inter-state 80 from Truckee to Kingvale, California.

The weather service reported 29 inches of snow fell at Northstar California ski resort near Truckee over the past 24 hours for a total of 73 inches in a week. Squaw Valley near Tahoe City recorded 28 inches of new snow for a seven-day total of 75 inches.
