Police had to shoot what they say was a "highly aggressive" bull after it got loose in New Jersey and attacked its owner.

The bull was recorded on police dashboard camera in Sparta, New Jersey, after cops say they received multiple calls about the animal loose on the streets that was attacking cars.

The owner got out of her car and was trying to coax the animal with food but the bull opted to mount her car.

"The owner said the bull had been acting in an aggressive manner and recently attacked her husband," Lt. John Lamon of the Sparta Police Department told Inside Edition.

It's not really unexpected, but it's still alarming. Along with high pollution levels, the record hot temperatures many of us experienced this February led to an exceptional number of wildfires in western Europe.

According to the Emergency Management Service of the EU agency Copernicus as of today, March 1, there have been 480 wildfires in 2019 across Europe.

Compared to the 2008-2018 average number of fires, this corresponds to the number of fires usually recorded mid-August.

The area of surface burnt is slightly lower, with 74,482 hectares, the typical situation in mid-July. In March, the 2008-2018 average is of 4,872 hectares burnt for all Europa.

Comment: Following the unusually warm winter and wildfires, many areas of the UK are now struggling with serious flooding. The US is also seeing epic floods but winter brought them record breaking cold.

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, has caused a landslide in North Lombok regency, killing at least five people and injuring more than 30 - most of whom were foreign and domestic tourists.

According to a statement issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency on Sunday afternoon, a 5.4-magnitude tectonic earthquake jolted East Lombok regency. The earthquake struck at about 2 p.m. local time, with its epicenter located approximately 20 kilometers north of the regency's Selong city. It was estimated to be 20 km deep.

While the agency stated the earthquake did not trigger a tsunami, North Lombok regency administration said it had caused a landslide at the Tiu Kelep Waterfall in Bayan district. The earthquake also destroyed several houses.

Flash flooding in the Indonesian province of Papua killed at least 50 people and injured 59 near the provincial capital, Jayapura, disaster officials said Sunday.

The number of victims is expected to rise as rescuers search for survivors in the town of Sentani, which was hit by the flood Saturday evening.

Sentani is the site of Sentani International Airport, which is the largest airport in Papua and serves Jayapura, about 15 miles away.

In a separate incident in Jayapura, seven people were killed when a landslide crushed two houses, said the Papua regional police spokesman, Ahmad Mustofa Kamal.

The landslide appeared to have been set off by the same heavy rains Saturday evening that caused the flash flood.

Cyclone Idai batters Zimbabwe, at least 31 people dead

Cyclone Idai

At least 31 people have died in eastern Zimbabwe while dozens were missing as homes and bridges were swept away by a tropical storm, state television reported on Saturday.

Cyclone Idai, which brought floodwater and destruction to areas of Mozambique and Malawi, hit Zimbabwe on Friday, cutting off power and communications.

Pictures shared on Twitter and television footage showed roads, houses and bridges that were washed away while communication towers were knocked down and electricity cables blocked roads in Chimanimani district, 410 kilometres (255 miles) east of the capital Harare.

State television ZBC said 31 people had died in the district while more than 70 people were missing.

The information ministry said the army had moved in to rescue 197 pupils trapped at a local school.

"This a very challenging operation as it's being undertaken as a ground effort because of unsafe weather conditions for air efforts," the ministry said in a statement.

High temperatures have been blamed for the deaths of hundreds of fish in two south coast waterways.

The Department of Primary Industries is investigating the fish kills at Meringo, near Moruya, and Wallagoot Lake at Tathra.

It is believed low water levels were the cause of hundreds of dead fish at Meringo, while a combination of low oxygen levels, high water temperature and changes to the salinity caused by recent rainfall led to mass deaths of fish at Wallagoot Lake this week.

NSW Upper House MP David Shoebridge reported hundreds of dead bream, eels, mullet, fingerlings and prawns were found in the saline coastal lagoon near Moruya, which is intermittently closed to the ocean.

Heavy rains cause rivers to burst banks in Wales and northern England

River Conwy

Heavy rain and strong winds have battered parts of Wales, leaving homes flooded and others without power.

There are nine flood warnings in place for mid and north Wales, including parts of Bala town centre in Gwynedd.

Homes in Conwy county were flooded, including Betws-y-Coed and Llanrwst, where three people had to be rescued from a van stuck in flood water.

Earlier, more than 700 properties in south Wales and Ruthin, Denbighshire, suffered power cuts.

Deiniol Tegid, a spokesman for Natural Resources Wales, said: "The River Conwy is at its highest level ever recorded, so yes it's quite bad in Llanrwst at the moment and we're asking people to be very careful in that area and not to venture into flood water and please don't take any risks."

Rochdale flooding: Locals urged to take 'immediate action' as River Roch rises

Residents in Rochdale are being urged to take 'immediate action' over flooding fears - almost four years after Storm Eva caused devastation in the town.

The River Roch is reaching 'dangerously high' levels with heavy downpours already wreaking havoc on roads.

Diversions are in place and one car park is already under a foot of water with police warning motorists to 'take care'.

And now the Environment Agency has warned that the town centre could be about to be flooded, reports Manchester Evening News.

It said: "River levels are steadily rising as a result of persistent rainfall and are expected to continue due to current forecasts.

"Consequently, flooding of property is possible throughout Saturday 16th March 2019.

We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the area from Roch Valley Way to Yorkshire Street and Albert Royds Street.

The Metrolink Exchange in the town centre is included in the flood warning zone.

Parts of the town centre were pictured under water after the devastating Boxing Day floods of 2015 caused by Storm Eva.

Some 324 homes and businesses in Rochdale and Littleborough were severely damaged and 18,000 properties were left without power as record river levels saw the River Roch burst its banks in several places.

The fast-flowing water was four feet deep at the height of the flooding but miraculously, there were no reports of injuries and the town hall escaped flood damage.

According to the Environment Agency, those in areas where a flood warning has been issued should take action.
