US chip performance beaten by Chinese start up in independent testing, thwarting US blacklisting

'US' company AMD's new chip: "Diffused in Taiwan, Made in Malaysia"
The U.S. ban on exports to China of Nvidia and AMD's flagship artificial intelligence chips will create new business opportunities for domestic startups jockeying for a piece of China's fast-growing data center chip market, industry executives and analysts told Reuters.

The ban is part of a longer effort by the U.S. government to crack down on U.S. contributions to Chinese artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, or supercomputing. Last year, U.S. officials put seven Chinese supercomputing entities on an economic blacklist, and last week they banned Nvidia and AMD's chips from export to China "to keep advanced technologies out of the wrong hands."

On Thursday, an independent group that measures artificial intelligence speeds published new data that can help back up the claims of little-known Chinese startup Shanghai Biren Intelligent Technology Co that its latest chip has bested the performance of one of the high-end chips banned by the U.S. government.

Comment: So China's chips are superior to the US chips, and this study proves that China no longer has any need for the US made chips, nor does any other country for that matter. And this progress is all thanks to US attempts to harm China by blacklisting its own manufacturing base.

Shots were fired at a bus carrying Israeli soldiers on a major highway in the Jordan Valley on Sunday, injuring seven people, the military and medics said.

The Israel Defense Forces said Palestinian gunmen opened fire at the bus near the settlement of Hamra, seriously wounding one soldier. Another five soldiers and the bus's civilian driver were hurt. The attack came amid rising violence in the West Bank.

The seriously wounded soldier and the bus driver, listed in moderate condition, were taken by helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, with gunshot injuries. The hospital later said the soldier's condition had improved. The other five soldiers were lightly hurt by glass fragments.

Col. Meir Biderman, the commander of the 417th territorial brigade said:
"From an initial review of the incident, the attack was committed by a cell driving a pickup truck, which overtook the bus and opened fire, and attempted to set it on fire. The soldiers on the bus returned fire, which made the terrorists flee."

The two sides agreed during the 16th round of top-level military talks to begin withdrawing "troops in the area of Gogra-Hot Springs", according to the statement.

The move, on the frontier between them in Ladakh, was "conducive to the peace and tranquillity in the border areas", it added.

Beijing did not immediately comment, although New Delhi issued the announcement as a joint statement.

Oberlin College finally pays out the millions it owes for launching defamation campaign against local bakery

Gibson’s Bakery oberlin defamation college
Gibson’s Bakery in Oberlin, Ohio won its defamation lawsuit against Oberlin College
Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, announced Thursday that it will pay a local bakery $36.59 million after a legal defamation battle.

The lawsuit began in 2016, when Allyn Gibson Jr. accused a black student of stealing a bottle of wine from Gibson's Bakery, causing the college to launch a defamation campaign which included the vice president of the college calling the bakery racist. The Ohio Supreme Court declined the college's appeal of a court's previous judgment, causing the college to decide Thursday to pay the bakery

"We are disappointed by the Court's decision. However, this does not diminish our respect for the law and the integrity of our legal system," the college wrote in a Thursday news release. "This matter has been painful for everyone. We hope that the end of the litigation will begin the healing of our entire community."

Comment: A tawdry case with a fitting end. Oberlin's vicious clique of SJW's deliberately sought to kill a beloved local business in the name of their insane ideology.

Contents of top secret documents seized in Mar-a-Lago raid leaked to WaPo

trump top secret file
After a federal judge required that a special master be appointed to oversee the documents seized by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago, contents of those documents were leaked to the Washington Post.

The heavily redacted affidavit provided by the Biden administration's Department of Justice specified that they had concerns that the classified documents were not safe in former President Trump's care. Now contents of those classified, top secret, and secret documents have been leaked to the Washington Post. Judge Aileen Cannon also specified that a criminal investigation be stopped.

The Washington Post reported that a document seized during that August 8 FBI raid of the former president's residence contained information on a foreign government's military assets. The Post did not offer further information on what was contained in the documents they were reporting on.

Steve Bannon claims he and former President Trump are being targeted by criminal justice system.

Former Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon pleaded not guilty Thursday to New York charges related to the "We Build the Wall" fundraiser.

Bannon turned himself in to New York authorities and was charged with six counts, including money laundering in the second degree, scheme to defraud in the first degree, and conspiracy in the fourth and fifth degrees. The indictment alleges that Bannon used WeBuildTheWall, Inc. to draw contributions from a crowdfunding website, which were then funneled through "various third party entities," with part of the money going to the CEO of WeBuildTheWall despite that organization and the CEO making repeated statements that he would not be compensated.

Comment: Whether he's guilty of this charge or not, it's undeniable that the establishment is rabidly going after him with guns blazing. He's clearly a thorn in their side, which instantly raises red flags on the validity of the charges.

The Chinese megacity of Chengdu has extended a Covid-19 lockdown in most areas, maintaining curbs that have ground business to a halt and confined the majority of its 21 million residents to their homes.

China is the last major economy welded to a zero-Covid strategy, tamping down virus flare-ups through a combination of snap lockdowns, mass testing and lengthy quarantines.

Chengdu, the capital of southwestern Sichuan province, has been effectively under lockdown for a week since reporting several hundred Covid cases.
