Trump's tax returns show evil of the income tax

The final act of the Democrat majority on the House Ways and Means Committee was to make public several years of Donald Trump's tax returns, which the Committee obtained after a prolonged legal battle. The tax returns confirmed that, despite being one of the richest people in America, Donald Trump paid very little in federal income tax. In fact, in at least one year he paid under a thousand dollars.

Trump's success in minimizing his tax liability without ever being audited is surprising only to those who think IRS audits are mainly used to catch rich "tax cheats." According to data released by the Syracuse University Transactional Records Clearinghouse, in 2022 lower-income taxpayers were five and half times more likely than millionaires and billionaires to be audited! This is because low-income taxpayers cannot afford to hire top-notch tax attorneys and accountants to help fight the IRS, so they are more likely to give in to the agency's demands.

Despite claims of the Biden Administration and its Congressional allies, the $80 million in additional funds provided to the agency as a part of the misnamed "Inflation Reduction Act" will likely increase the tax agency's targeting of low- and middle-income Americans.

Proponents of a flat tax or national sales tax argue that such a system would ensure millionaires and billionaires paid their "fair share" of taxes. Saying we must all pay our "fair share" of taxes assumes we have a moral obligation to the government that can only be fulfilled by turning over as much of our income as our so-called "public servants" demand. This is not the case. Individuals have a moral duty to support their families, and to support private charities if they wish. They do not have a moral duty to support the government.

NYC mayor warns migrant crisis could bankrupt city — STILL won't blame Biden

The ongoing migrant crisis could leave New York City bankrupt, Mayor Eric Adams warned Wednesday — while repeatedly refusing to blame President Biden's lax border policies.

Adams — who's asked the federal government for $1 billion to pay for migrant housing and services — said there were "real dollar amounts" tied to the state of emergency he declared in October.

"This is an expensive endeavor that we are in and we have to find ways of carrying out this task without bankrupting the city," he said.

During an unrelated news conference in Brooklyn, Adams also said Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Anne Williams-Isom and other officials were "meeting continuously to pivot, shift and figure out how to solve this crisis that was that was dropped on us."

Comment: Adams has to cope with a fraction of the numbers the southern states such as Texas deal with, and he's throwing a temper tantrum. New York City brought this on itself:

Shortage of cold and flu medicines in Canada, occurs alongside shortages in UK and France

medicine shortage canada
© THE CANADIAN PRESS/Joe O'ConnalFILE: Empty shelves of children's pain relief medicine are seen at a Toronto pharmacy, Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
Around Christmastime, Wendle Beaton was trying to find cold medication for her adult son in Brampton, Ont.

"In my neighbourhood there's like 20 (pharmacies) within like a two-kilometre radius because I live in the most populous part of the city," Beaton said.

The 55-year-old artist went to three stores before finding something. Even then, "they were out of a whole bunch of stuff."

Comment: Just what's going on? How are three first world nations 'forgetting' to order sufficient stocks of crucial medications? Canadian reps claim that the manufacturers are not to blame, whilst over in France some are alleging that they're low because their suppliers don't have enough because of their rolling lockdowns.

It's notable that shortages of various kinds seem to be on the rise, so perhaps it's just a consequence of the increasing corruption, incompetence, hysteria, and general (sometimes manufactured) chaos?

Thousands of New York nurses go on strike over pay and dangerously low staffing conditions

Nurses at two New York City hospitals began to strike on Monday after talks broke down between the union and hospital leaders overnight.

Driving the news: More than 7,000 nurses at Mount Sinai Hospital and Montefiore Bronx began striking at 6 a.m., an outcome city and state officials had pushed to avert.
  • Hospitals have postponed some elective procedures and Mount Sinai began transferring babies from its neonatal intensive care unit in preparation for the strike, CNN reported.
State of play: The conflict between New York City's major hospitals and their nurses is part of a nationwide movement that has seen a slew of healthcare workers launch strikes across the U.S.

Comment: Unprecedented strikes by healthcare workers have erupted across Europe too, but the same governments that just last year were calling them heroes, is now calling their requests for better working conditions inconvenient: And that's just healthcare workers, because all kinds of industries were on strike last year - to no avail - and that was before soaring inflation and the energy crisis. In France a poll recently revealed that over half of citizens are calling for an 'explosion' of protests:

Mark of the Beast? The Satanic Temple's 'largest satanic gathering in history' will require masks

The Satanic Temple is dedicating the "largest satanic gathering in history" to Democratic Boston Mayor Michelle Wu after the group wasn't allowed to deliver a satanic invocation at Boston City Hall.

SatanCon 2023 will take place in downtown Boston April 28-30. Registered guests are required to wear masks and show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, according to the organization.

"Attendees must wear an N-95, KN-95, or disposable surgical mask," the temple said on its site. "Gaiters, bandanas, and cloth masks will not be allowed."

The theme of the gathering in celebration of The Satanic Temple's 10-year anniversary is "Hexennacht in Boston," German for "Witches' Night," which marks the ancient pagan holiday of May Eve. The night was later changed to Walpurgisnacht to commemorate Walpurga, a Christian saint who evangelized Germany and was said to have exorcised demons from the sick.

Twitter cuts more staff overseeing global content moderation

Twitter Inc., under new owner Elon Musk, has made deeper cuts into its already radically diminished trust and safety team handling global content moderation, as well as to the unit related to hate speech and harassment.

At least a dozen more cuts on Friday night affected workers in the company's Dublin and Singapore offices. They included Nur Azhar Bin Ayob, the head of site integrity for Twitter's Asia-Pacific region, a relatively recent hire; and Analuisa Dominguez, Twitter's senior director of revenue policy.

Workers on teams handling the social network's misinformation policy, global appeals and state media on the platform were also eliminated.

Ella Irwin, Twitter's head of trust and safety, confirmed several members of the teams were cut but denied that they targeted some of the areas mentioned by Bloomberg.

DeSantis anounces plan to take over Disney's Land

The state of Florida announced a plan to take control of woke Walt Disney's land once and for all.

The legislature would replace Disneyland's special self-governing power with a state-run board, according to a notice posted on the website of Osceola County, which is home to part of Disney World. Sources from Gov. Ron DeSantis' (R-Fla) office said that his intention with the legislature is to mandate members of the board to be appointed by the governor.

DeSantis's communication director, Taryn Fenske, told Fox News that the corporate kingdom has come to an end.
"Under the proposed legislation, Disney will no longer control its government, will live under the same laws as everyone else, will be responsible for their outstanding debts, and will pay their fair share of taxes.

"The governor is doing exactly what he said he would. Disney can no longer have its own government and own taxing authority, and Disney, not taxpayers, will have to be responsible for any financial consequences."

Comment: Another strong move by Governor DeSantis:
At the bill signing ceremony, DeSantis said Disney lied about the "Parental Rights in Education" law's contents and that he viewed the company's vow to fight it as unacceptable.

Adrian Lukis, told Fox News:
"While this will be painful for Disney, I expect businesses throughout the state will be proud of their governor for making it clear that he doesn't care who you are, or how politically connected you may be — no one gets special treatment in Florida."
The Financial Times in December reported that lawmakers were preparing to reverse course on the move to eliminate Disney World's special status. A DeSantis spokesperson denied the claim:
"Governor DeSantis does not make 'U-turns. We will have an even playing field for businesses in Florida, and the state certainly owes no special favors to one company. Disney's debts will not fall on the taxpayers of Florida. A plan is in the works and will be released soon."

Study of Maidan Massacre accepted and then rejected by journal

maidan
© ReutersScores of people were killed in violence that erupted during the Euromaidan protests in 2014
Professor Ivan Katchanovski, as you may recall, is the Ukrainian-Canadian academic who's done all the work on Maidan massacre. Briefly, he argues that the massacre of police and protestors on the Maidan Square in February of 2014 was a false flag operation carried out by the Ukrainian far-right.

To date, Katchanovski has published one paper on the massacre in an academic journal and another in an academic book. He has also presented his work at academic conferences. However, the professor's latest and most detailed study remains unpublished.

This was about to change, Katchanovski thought in November, when it was accepted for publication at an academic journal. Indeed, the paper was accepted "after minor revision" - which means the reviewers didn't recommend any fundamental changes.

Yet about ten days later, Katchanovski received an email from the journal informing him that the paper had been rejected - without any further peer review.

Comment: Information contradicting the current official narrative may not be allowed to receive official endorsement, but at least for now, it is still out in the wild.

An internal investigation has substantiated over 300 allegations of grooming and other sexual misconduct.

Internal investigators for Chicago Public Schools (CPS), the third-largest US school district, have substantiated allegations that hundreds of teachers and administrators groomed and sexually assaulted their students, an inspector general's report has revealed.

More than 600 sexual misconduct complaints were investigated during the 2021-2022 school year, and allegations were found to be valid in about half of those cases, the district's Office of Inspector General (OIG) said earlier this month in its annual report. The office doubled the number of complaints that it investigated from a year earlier under an initiative to speed up processing of its "extraordinarily high case volume." The number of new cases opened jumped 38% from the previous year.

US state encourages schools to deceive parents on child's gender identity

Oregon's Department of Education has suggested children's gender identity be kept a secret from their families.

The Oregon Department of Education has come under fire for a document published on Thursday, titled "Supporting Gender Expansive Students: Guidance for Schools," which appears to counsel school staff to help students conceal their "expansive" gender identities from their parents.

If a student declares a new gender identity, the guide instructs school districts to immediately begin treating them in accordance with that identity, informing teachers of their new name and pronouns, and updating their name on school records.
