Infant mortality in Gaza in sharp decline since 1960s, has stagnated in past decade

Infant mortality in Gaza, in sharp decline since the 1960s, has stagnated over the past decade, according to a new study.

The estimated infant mortality rate amongst Palestinian refugees in the territory has not declined since 2006. Refugees make up about 70 percent of Gaza's population of two million.

This is an alarm bell about the health of Gaza's whole population, experts say.

The period of stagnation coincides with Israel's ongoing siege on the territory that has hit nearly all aspects of life hard.

Infant mortality - the death of a child within the first year of life - is decreasing in most of the world.

Rasmussen poll: 59% fear violence from Trump haters, 31% predict civil war

The division in the United States that has escalated into the organized harassment of presidential aides has six in 10 worried about the violence from anti-Trump advocates and nearly a third fearing it will end in civil war.

The latest survey from Rasmussen Reports found that 59 percent of all voters "are concerned that those opposed to President Trump's policies will resort to violence."

And, added Rasmussen, 31 percent believe "it's likely that the United States will experience a second civil war sometime in the next five years."

The new polling evidence of fear in the country over political division follows the harassment of three top Trump aides, including spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, ordered out of a southern Virginia restaurant, and senior adviser Stephen Miller whose condo drew protests from liberals.

Hawaii authorities are investigating after dozens of baby hammerhead sharks were found dead near Keehi Lagoon in Honolulu.

The state Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement has opened an investigation following the discovery of 50 to 100 dead shark pups piled up near La Mariana Sailing Club on Tuesday morning.

The lagoon is a known birthing location for hammerhead sharks, but it not natural for shark pups to be found on shore in large numbers, state officials said.

The sharks may have been netted and dumped on land by a fisherman, said Andrew Rossiter, the director of the Waikiki Aquarium.

Conservative street artist Sabo creates Nazi-style posters emblazoned with DNC symbol to show how Leftists have become modern-day Nazis

sabo street art
Los Angeles street artist Sabo, a visionary of the alternative conservative movement, is out with his latest creative gambit: Nazi-style posters emblazoned with the DNC symbol to keep Republicans out of restaurants and other places of business.

"We wanted to showcase how the Leftists have become modern day Nazis's. First the dehumanize is, then they deny us, then they'll kill us. It scares me to think how far this is going to go. The Left doesn't realize what they're doing mimics Nazi techniques," Sabo tells Big League Politics.

Now, if you're a fascist Democrat, you can keep out Republicans the same way the owners of the Red Hen blocked Sarah Sanders from eating! Check out the new posters, which can be downloaded from unsavoryagents.com and used anywhere speech is suppressed!:

More Civil War signs? Conservatives advise Trump aides to arm themselves as leftist rage escalates

As resistance to the Trump administration moves from Twitter to the streets, many on the right are anticipating that protests will turn violent. Trump's aides, they say, should arm themselves.

Last weekend saw chanting protesters camped outside Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen's house; White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders booted from a Virginia restaurant with her family; and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi screamed at and spat on by a progressive mob as she tried to attend a movie in Tampa.

It also saw Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters (California) - a committed anti-Trumper who's called for the President's impeachment dozens of times - come out and condone public harassment of Trump officials.

"If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere," said Waters.

Tide continues to turn: Candidate who said 'Dems can't be silent anymore' about Israeli 'massacre' topples party leader in primary shocker

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democratic nominee for Congress in NY's 14th District, Bronx and Queens.
There is only one political story today, the defeat of Democratic Party stalwart Joseph Crowley by insurgent socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 28, in a congressional district in the Bronx and Queens. The news has reverberations for our issue, U.S. policy in the Middle East. Ocasio-Cortez has called on the party to end its silence on Palestinian human rights.

Here is Ocasio-Cortez's tweet from the May 14 massacre on the Gaza border, when Israel killed 62 Palestinian protesters even as the U.S. moved the embassy:
This is a massacre. I hope my peers have the moral courage to call it such. No state or entity is absolved of mass shootings of protesters. There is no justification. Palestinian people deserve basic human dignity, as anyone else. Democrats can't be silent about this anymore.

Having being told to bring a "message of peace from Israel" by Prime Minister Netanyahu, the Duke of Cambridge crossed into the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) today for a Royal Family first.

Rolling into Ramallah, Prince William met Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for the most political non-political meeting ever, followed by lunch. Later, he will speak at a reception at the British Consulate in East Jerusalem, attended by "a broad range of people from across the occupied Palestinian territories".

The historic meeting with Abbas was beamed out on Twitter by Kensington Palace, the official account for the Prince, his brother, and their wives. Like with everything related to Israel and Palestine, reaction has been a mixed bag:

Syrian Arab Army slices through US-backed terrorists in Daraa - Attacks ISIS on border with Israeli-occupied Golan

daraa map
As of the earliest morning hours of Wednesday June 27th, we have the following report made exclusively for FRN:

The Syrian Army has been on a rampage in southern Syria against terrorist forces, showing no mercy and liberating huge swathes of territory from the clutches of US-backed jihadists.

The Syrian Army launched its operations against terrorist forces a week ago in the southern Syrian province of Dara'a in a bid to clear a huge chunk of the Syrian-Jordanian border.

The Syrian Army thus far has liberated over 400 square kilometers from terrorist forces, mostly concentrated on the rocky plateau of the Al-Lajat region of eastern Dara'a province. After liberating this region and the villages within it, the elite Tiger Forces of the Syrian Army yesterday began a night assault on Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Nusra positions in the key town of Busra al-Harir.

The liberation of Busra al-Harir now means that the Tiger Forces can now concentrate their attacks on the town of Al-Hirak, one of the most important towns in the eastern Dara'a countryside.

Comment: Al Masdar News reports that the Syrian Air Force launched raids against ISIS positions in the area:
According to the source, Syrian Air Force jets struck the Islamic State's positions near the border of the Israeli occupied Golan Heights.

The source added that the Israeli military did not interfere during the Syrian Air Force's attack along their border.

This aerial attack marks the first time in four years that the Syrian Air Force has conducted airstrikes in this part of the Al-Quneitra and Daraa governorates.

Mutually nonconsensual: Title IX case shows the absurdity of university sex crime

university cincinnati
© MICHAEL HICKEY / GETTY
Is it possible for two people to simultaneously sexually assault each other? This is the question - rife with legal, anatomical, and emotional improbabilities - to which the University of Cincinnati now addresses itself, and with some urgency, as the institution and three of its employees are currently being sued over an encounter that was sexual for a brief moment, but that just as quickly entered the realm of eternal return. The one important thing you need to know about the case is that according to the lawsuit, a woman has been indefinitely suspended from college because she let a man touch her vagina. What kind of sexually repressive madness could have allowed for this to happen? Answer that question and you will go a long way toward answering the question, "What the hell is happening on American college campuses?"

The substantive facts of the case come to us only through a lawsuit, one that has thus far implicated everything from Title IX, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Constitution to "slut shaming" and good old-fashioned horniness. But not super horniness, because - as with many high profile cases involving the infinitely expandable concept of "college sexual assault" - the actual encounter exists as merest prologue to the massive novel of ideas that followed it.

The event in prรฉcis, as summarized by Robby Soave of Reason magazine:
"Male and female student have a drunken hookup. He wakes up, terrified she's going to file a sexual misconduct complaint, so he goes to the Title IX office and beats her to the punch. She is found guilty and suspended."
The image that this conjured - of a couple waking up in the fetid bed of blackout sex, coming to the hideous realization of what happened and then lacing up their running shoes for a mad race across campus to the Torquemada of Title IX - is not just amusing, but offers a potentially useful precedent to the nation's college men. The race is not always to the swift, but the functionaries of the college sex panic have an obdurate habit of determining that the victim of a blearily remembered amorous encounter is the person who decides to report it, with all ties broken by the one who reports it first.
