Huge 'strange looking creature' swims under paddleboarder off California

Rich German says he has gone paddling off the California coast every day for 12 years. He's seen thousands of dolphins and whales, and many fish in the sea. On Dec. 2, however, a giant creature like he's never seen before swam up under his board. It was an unusually large ocean sunfish.

"My buddy and I were blown away when we saw it," German told McClatchy News in an email. "First off they are just strange looking creatures and this one was massive and was just floating on the surface getting some sun."

German and his friend Matthew Wheaton have seen sunfish before, but none have ever been this large or close to shore. Ocean sunfish, known scientifically as mola mola, are usually about 11 feet long and can weigh up to 5,000 pounds, according to National Geographic.

"Matt's board is 14 feet long and you can see in the photos how big the fish appears," German said. "Obviously we didn't catch it or measure it but this one sure looked longer than 9 feet." The sunfish looks like it could be at least the size of Wheaton's paddle board, video and photos show.

40 years ago, Monty Python predicted and mocked wokeness (video)

Life of Brian scene

Monty Python's Life of Brian is the most prescient movie ever made, predicting exactly in 1979 the cultural madness you see around you today. Despite that, the flick was wrongly derided four decades ago by the very people who might find it gob-smackingly funny today.

Life of Brian was vigorously protested during its U.S. release by various groups who believed — apparently without having seen the movie — that it was anti-Christian. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are only two appearances by Jesus in the movie, one of which is off-screen. The first is the night of Jesus' birth (Brian's, too) and what little we see is true to the Bible.

Well, except for the part where the Three Wise Men first tried to deliver their gifts to baby Brian in the manger next door.

In the other scene, years later, we briefly see Jesus giving the Sermon on the Mount. No mockery is made of Jesus or His message. Of all the jokes, gags, and barbs thrown in every direction, Jesus is the only figure shown respect. Monty Python trouper Eric Idle later said of Jesus, "What he's saying isn't mockable, it's very decent stuff."

For a non-believing, take-no-prisoners comedian like Idle, that's practically a whole-hearted endorsement.

Instead, the film — Python's only real film, the others were basically collections of sketches, even Holy Grailis anti-authoritarian, anti-fanaticism, anti-nihilism, and anti-humorless prigs.

Life of Brian is, however, very pro-funny.

A woman in Thailand allegedly blew up the oil warehouse where she worked because she was angry with her boss.

The worker, named as 38-year-old Ms Sirisini or Ann Sriya by police, has been accused of using a lighter to set fire to a piece of paper before throwing it on to a fuel container at the Prapakorn Oil warehouse in Thailand.

The fire, which caused more than 40 million Thai baht (about £900,000) worth of damage, quickly spread through the building, used to store thousands of litres of oil tanks.

The full effect of lingering pandemic-related food supply chain disruptions, high inflation, labour and transportation issues, climate change and extreme weather events on next year's grocery bills remains to be seen. But according to Canada's Food Price Report 2022 , they will only get higher.

In the latest edition of the annual report, Dalhousie University, University of Guelph, University of Saskatchewan and University of British Columbia researchers forecast a five to seven per cent increase in food prices — the highest in its 12-year history.

Five things to know about rising food prices in 2022

A family of four is expected to spend as much as $14,767 in 2022: up to $966 more than 2021, which amounts to an extra $80 a month and $20 a week.

Police detective warns people not to visit Los Angeles due to rising crime

A Los Angeles detective has warned against people visiting the city due to rising crime rates while adding that police are unable to guarantee their safety.

"We're telling people don't visit because we don't think we can keep you safe right now. And that's just sad to say," Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detective Jamie McBride told Fox News on Tuesday.

McBride blamed Governor Gavin Newsom, L.A. County DA George Gascon, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) for propagating the Proposition 47 bill that has led to such a situation.

"How did we get here? The ACLU advocated for Proposition 47 which changed the sentencing guidelines," McBride said. "So, right now, you can literally go out and do whatever you want, commit crimes, and you will be out faster than the officers can finish the report, and that's a fact."

Disclosing Pfizer vaccine data 'may take until 2096'

The US Food and Drug Administration is cooperating with a Freedom of Information Act request for clinical data associated with Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine, but may require 75 years to do so - even longer than a prior estimate.

The FDA has insisted it cannot commit to a faster release of the medical data associated with the approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine, according to a legal brief filed on Tuesday in response to the FOIA request. The agency reiterated that after processing 12,000 pages in about a two-month period, it will only be able to process 500 pages per month going forward. With tens of thousands of additional files up for review, plaintiffs fear the process may drag on two decades longer than the previous 55-year estimate.

Chinese real estate giant Evergrande defaults - Fitch

The China Evergrande Group has been declared in default on its dollar debt by Fitch Ratings. Evergrande is the second largest residential real estate company in China, with more than 1,300 projects in 280 cities.

The US-based rating agency cut the developer's rating to Restricted Default due to non-payment of US$1.2 billion in bond repayments within the grace period, which expired on Monday.

The Chinese firm has the largest amount of debt of any private company in the world - $300 billion, as of June.

The Evergrande saga has been closely monitored in the global markets, as the sheer volume of the company's debt could destabilize the Chinese real estate market and affect other countries.

EU wants to force 'hate crime' definitions on member states

The move to enshrine 'hate crimes' into its founding treaties will just be another flashpoint for clashes between Brussels and the likes of Hungary and Poland.

The European Commission is proposing to add "hate crimes" to one of the founding treaties of the European Union. This will give Brussels more power to punish member states that it deems are not effectively tackling hate speech, misogyny, and homophobia.

According to Politico, which has seen the draft text, "the proposal comes in the wake of social movements like the #MeToo campaign and Black Lives Matter protests."

The European Commission text says, "hate is moving into the mainstream, targeting individuals and groups of people sharing or perceived as sharing 'a common characteristic,' such as race, ethnicity, language, religion, nationality, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, sex characteristics or any other fundamental characteristic, or a combination of such characteristics."

Nearly 500 Los Angeles Unified School District employees were fired this week for refusing to comply with a mandate that they get vaccinated against COVID-19, while some 34,000 students have not yet been vaccinated as required.

Comment: "As required" by the pathocracy, not as a requirement to protect their health.

The school board voted 7-0 in separate motions on Tuesday to terminate 496 employees, who make up less than 1% of the district's approximately 73,000 workers.

Comment: It's rather telling, considering the sorry state of Los Angeles, that all the school board members are on board with the manufactured crisis.

Most of those fired had likely been on leave since mid-October when LAUSD staffers were to have received at least their first vaccine dose, the Los Angeles Daily News reported. Employees were required to receive their second dose by Nov. 15.

Comment: The enforcement of vaccines is really accelerating what can only be described as a purge, although in one way or another, particularly in schools promoting the insidious Woke ideology, it has been ongoing for a number of years now. For the moment however, the issue of just who is going to fill these positions across numerous industries has led to a number of mandates being retracted, or with the facility, in one case an ER hospital, shutting down entirely: Also check out SOTT radio's: NewsReal: NAZI Redux - Covid Camps in Australia, Mandatory Vaccinations in EU

"The lady that gave him the shot and signed the paper told my son, 'Please don't say anything. I don't want to get in trouble.'"

A mother in California has claimed that her son was given a COVID vaccination at school without her consent or knowledge after the boy was bribed by someone offering free pizza.

Yes really.

The incident occurred at the Barack Obama Global Prep Academy in South Los Angeles, according to Maribel Duarte who told NBC News "The lady that gave him the shot and signed the paper told my son, 'Please don't say anything. I don't want to get in trouble.'"
