'Time running out' to solve the N. Korea crisis, says US army chief of staff

North Korea's growing missile capability is "the single most dangerous threat" to international order today, and time is running out for diplomatic solutions, the US Army chief of staff said, adding that war in the peninsula would be "horrific."

General Mark Milley addressed the Korean crisis during a luncheon at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on Thursday, as part of an hourlong speech about the role of the US military in upholding the post-WWII international order.

The July 4 missile test showed that North Korea "has advanced significantly, and quicker than many had expected, their ICBM capability that could possibly strike the US," Milley said. "Time is running out" for diplomatic and political efforts to persuade Pyongyang, the general said, adding that military is fully supportive of the attempts to avoid war.

Comment: July 4th launch: Russia determined N. Korea had yet to gain ICBM capability.

Returning to the issue during the question-and-answer session, Milley singled out North Korea as the one thing that figuratively keeps him up at night. "It's a very serious situation, and it's not going in a good direction," he said.

Comment: Doomsday thinking will get you...doomsday.

As security measures lift, clashes break out at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque, 113 injured

Over 100 people were injured as clashes broke out at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem on Thursday after Palestinians were allowed to freely enter the Temple Mount compound for the first time in weeks.

At least 113 Palestinians were injured, according to the Red Crescent, after Israeli forces used stun grenades to control the thousands of people rushing into the compound.

Palestinians flocked en masse into the revered mosque after the Islamic Waqf authority gave worshipers the go-ahead, lifting the prayer ban that had been imposed in connection with the metal detectors and proclaiming "the new era of victory."

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said in a TV address that "noon prayers will take place at the Al-Aqsa mosque."

"We will sacrifice ourselves for Al-Aqsa!" the worshipers chanted, Reuters reported, with several of them climbing atop the mosque to erect Palestinian flags there, which were later removed by Israeli troops.

Comment: The Israelis provided the Palestinians a tangible and united 'cause' by suppressing their access to the Al-Aqsa mosque. Israel knew precisely what it was doing when it set the detectors, the reaction it would evoke and the victims it would tally.

One more brick in the wall: Congress OKs funding for Mexico barrier

The House of Representatives has voted to spend $1.6 billion on building new and fortifying existing fencing on the US border with Mexico. The expense was tucked into the $788 billion spending bill for the next budget year.

The $1.6 billion is allocated for the construction of three segments of the wall on the US border with Mexico, including $784 million for 32 miles of new border fencing and $498 million for 28 miles of levee wall in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas; another $251 million would go to building back-up fencing in the heavily fortified San Diego area, AP reported.

Lawmakers did not vote on the wall funding separately but rather as part of the large spending bill which included funding for the departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Energy. The vote was 230-196.

Congressional Democrats were hoping to be able to defeat the wall funding by voting on it as a separate item, considering a number of Republicans represent districts with large immigrant communities, where many oppose such a wall.

Comment: Ever notice how 'negative' projects move to the head of the funding line? We should change this.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz's IT specialist subscribed to multiple pedophile-centric YouTube channels

Imran Awan Debbie Wasserman Shultz
In what will surely fuel the PizzaGate flames a bit more, The Gateway Pundit is reporting that Debbie Wasserman Schultz's "golden boy" IT hacker, Imran Awan (who was paid millions of US taxpayer money to essentially blackmail members of Congress) subscribed to pedophile-centric YouTube Channels.

ibankcoin.com reports:
YouTuber Tracy Beanz has discovered that the Pakistani DNC IT Staffer arrested Monday night for bank fraud while attempting to flee the country was a fan of several pedo-centric YouTube channels - including one featured on Comedy Central's Tosh.0 program.

Imran Awan, the long-time employee and friend of Debbie Wasserman Schultz - currently under investigation by the FBI and DC Capitol Police for a variety of alleged crimes unrelated to his Monday arrest (and whose lawyer oddly mentioned 'pizzagate' in a post-arrest statement), subscribed to YouTube channel "Seven Super Girls" - which has over 12 billion views, and features children performing in sexualized 'bits.'

Some of the sites Awan is subscribed to also fit the description of #Elsagate, which is a growing number of child-oriented fetish websites disguised as innocent children's videos.

The Pentagon has not yet received official orders from the White House on implementing a ban on transgender service members, said General Joseph Dunford (USMC), chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and President Donald Trump's chief military adviser.

"There will be no modifications to the current policy until the President's direction has been received by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary has issued implementation guidance," Dunford wrote in a memo to service chiefs, commanders and senior enlisted leadership on Thursday, according to Reuters.

"In the meantime, we will continue to treat all of our personnel with respect. As importantly, given the current fight and the challenges we face, we will all remain focused on accomplishing our assigned missions," he added.

Mad Maxine Waters interrupts Treasury Secretary's single answer โ€” 12 times!

Maxine Waters
Maxine Waters was more interested in grandstanding on Thursday than actually getting answers to her questions.

While the California congresswoman was able to ask Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin questions during a Financial Services Committee hearing today, she repeatedly reclaimed her time, preventing him from providing answers.

Comment: Most two-year-olds have better manners than this Congresswoman.

Shortly after wrapping up the initial stage of the first-ever joint Russia-China drills in European waters, Beijing has reportedly blocked out a swath of ocean off the country's east coast for a fresh series of "large-scale" military drills.

"Large-scale military activities" are being held between the eastern port city of Lianyungang, in Jiangsu province, and Qingdao, in Shandong province, home to the navy's North Sea Fleet, AP reported, citing a notice from the government of Lianyungang.

Around 40,000 square kilometers (15,000 square miles) of the Yellow Sea will be off-limits for commercial shipping until Saturday, according to AP.

On Thursday, the Chinese and Russian navies concluded the first stage of joint military drills in the Baltic Sea, code-named 'Joint Sea 2017.'

Another blow to Trump: Senate rejects Obamacare repeal

Mitch McConnell

The US Senate has not supported a "skinny" repeal of the previous administration's healthcare law, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), widely known as Obamacare.

The repeal failed by a narrow margin of 49 - 51. At least three Republicans voted "no," including John McCain, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski. It was GOP Senator John McCain who cast the decisive vote, killing the repeal.

The bill's death in the Senate is seen as a blow to President Donald Trump. The US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) described the move as "a disappointing moment."

The "no" vote followed long Senate debates on the controversial Health Care Freedom Act.

The chairman of Russia's Security Council has invited BRICS nations to participate in an international database for countering terrorism - a project launched by the Federal Security Service in order to target terrorists and their sponsors.

"We invite all BRICS nations to join the international data bank for countering terrorism created by the FSB in Russia. Thanks to the participation of 33 foreign special services and a number of relevant international organizations, we have created a consolidated array of information on persons complicit in terrorist activities and also on extremist and terrorist groups," Nikolai Patrushev said during a meeting of security officials from BRICS countries in Beijing.

BRICS is an international group uniting Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa - the five major emerging economies with about half of the world's population and 30 percent of global economic output.

Top Putin advisor: We want to stop cyber warfare, now just have to convince US and NATO

cyber warfare
© Jaap Arriens / Global Look Press
Russia wants to "prevent the militarization of cyber space" and create international rules that could prevent a new digital arms race, one of Vladimir Putin's top communications tech advisors has said.

"When humanity realized the horror of biological weapons, it banned them. We are in the same situation right now. We should avoid the mistakes of the Atomic Age, when we first armed ourselves sufficiently to destroy each other, and then began to disarm," said Andrey Krutskikh, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for international cooperation in information security, in an interview with RT.

"In our wisdom, we should agree not to militarize cyberspace, and set some international ground rules," added Krutskikh, who was speaking on the sidelines of a Moscow forum dedicated to information tech in modern diplomacy for young Foreign Ministry civil servants.

Comment: According to the Putin (in Oliver Stone's Putin Interviews), this is precisely what he proposed years ago. The U.S. didn't even give an answer. This is also what Putin and Trump discussed. And the idea was immediately ridiculed and shot down by U.S. politicians. The reason? The U.S. is number-one in cyberwarfare, targeting not only enemies but friends as well. Agreeing to any basic "ground rules" would mean scaling back American cyberwarfare programs, and playing nice. The American empire doesn't play nice.
