Poor George Soros opines on lifelong funding of leftwing causes: 'Tide has turned against me'

Billionaire George Soros, who has spent his fortune promoting leftwing politicians, media, and organizations, said over the weekend that he hasn't failed in his lifelong quest to put socialism in place in the United States, but has been impeded by his opposition, including President Donald Trump.

"Between the election of President Trump and Britain's ongoing debate over Brexit, the billionaire philanthropist George Soros recognizes that populism is on the rise and that his brand of liberal democracy is faltering," said Michel Martin, host of All Things Considered on taxpayer-funded National Public Radio (NPR).

Soros also has supported NPR, including $1.8 million given to the media outlet in 2011.

"When I got involved in what I call political philanthropy some 40 years ago, the open society idea was on the ascendant — closed societies were opening up," Soros said. "And now, open societies are on the defensive and dictatorships are on the rise."

Comment: What a laugh! Under the guise of liberalism, political philanthropy, etc., this machiavellian curmudgeon has done more to destabilize and undermine the sovereignty of world countries than perhaps any other personality alive.

Best of the Web: Guerilla journalists sneak onto Jeffrey Epstein's 'Pedo Island'

epstein island statue
A group of guerilla journalists from We Are Change snuck onto Jeffrey Epstein's island, Little St. James, where they recorded the island's features in high-definition.

Founder Luke Rudowski and a crew were able to book a ride onto the deceased pedophile's island, where they found a series of "satanic gargoyles" and explored landmarks such as Epstein's strange cube-shaped 'temple.'

Comment: The other fellow was Jeff Berwick of DollarVigilante.

Kind of a Nothing-Burger. It seems rather obvious that anything incriminating on that island would have been removed long ago. Good for some thrill-seeking, though.

Russian diplomacy threatens Western imperialism in Africa

Russia-Africa Economic and Security Summit in Sochi (Oct. 23-24)
While Russia has attempted to direct attention toward its first ever Russia-Africa Summit held in Sochi, Russia this month, it has been the systematic smear campaign launched by media in the West that has raised debate over accusations made against Moscow and exposed the hypocrisy of those making these accusations regarding their own activities in Africa.

The debate provoked by Western accusations has helped focus attention on the oft neglected affairs of the African continent and the nations and people living there, as well as compare and contrast centuries of Western abuses there with the approaches of relative newcomers like Russia and China.

For Russia's part, its summit appears well received, and were it of little or no consequence, we would probably not be seeing the significant backlash it has provoked across the Western media.

From RussiaGate to UkraineGate: The insane pursuit of Trump's impeachment may be about to come back at accusers

Dems Lose Their Marbles: Barr-Durham Moves To Criminal Prosecution As Former FBI General Counsel "Cooperates"

man in the shadows
As the Quantum field oversees the disintegration of institutions no longer in service to the public, the Democratic party continues to lose their marbles, perpetuating their own simulated bubble as if they alone are the nation's most trusted purveyors of truth.

Since the Mueller Report failed to deliver on the dubious Russiagate accusations, the party of Thomas Jefferson continues to remain in search of another ethical pretense to justify continued partisan turmoil. In an effort to discredit and/or distract attention from the Barr-Durham and IG investigations, the Dems have come up with an implausible piece of political theatre known as Ukrainegate which has morphed into an impeachment inquiry.

The Inspector General's Report, which may soon be ready for release, will address the presentation of fabricated FBI evidence to the FISA Court for permission to initiate a surveillance campaign on Trump Administration personnel. In addition, the Department of Justice has confirmed that Special Investigator John Durham's probe into the origin of the FBI's counter intelligence investigation during the 2016 election has moved from an administrative review into the criminal prosecution realm. Durham will now be able to actively pursue candidates for possible prosecution.

Countries who side with India in its standoff with Pakistan over the disputed Kashmir region face being at the receiving end of the Islamic Republic's missiles, according to the country's minister for Kashmir affairs.

Speaking at a function on Monday, Minister Ali Amin Gandapur warned that Pakistan was willing to go to war over the contested territory. "If the tension with India escalates on the issue of Kashmir, Pakistan will be forced into a war," he said.

Gandapur added that he regrets that the world has done nothing to resolve the issue and issued a stark warning to countries considering supporting India in the dispute.

NE Syria: Pullout of Kurdish militia from safe zone completed ahead of schedule - UPDATE: Syria sets up border block posts

The withdrawal of Kurdish forces from the Syrian border region with Turkey was one of Ankara's conditions to stop its military offensive there. The Turkish and Russian presidents negotiated in Sochi last week that Moscow and Damascus would facilitate the Kurdish withdrawal process.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu has announced that the withdrawal of Kurdish militia forces from the safe zone in north-eastern region Syria has been completed ahead of schedule. He added that the region is now under the control of Syrian border guards and Russian military police.

Shoigu also revealed that Russian forces, along with their counterparts from Armenia, are conducting mine-sweeping activities in the region, having already cleared 100 square kilometres not only of mines, but also of various undetonated ordnances that could pose a threat to civilians.

Comment: UPDATE 30th October @ 12:19 CET
A total of 68 Kurdish forces units numbering 34,000 militants, as well as over 3,000 pieces of weaponry and military equipment, have been withdrawn from the contact line with the Turkish Armed Forces in Syria by the set deadline, the commander of the Russian centre for Syrian reconciliation said Tuesday.

Borenkov added that the Syrian government forces have set up 84 border block posts on the Syrian-Turkish border, including 60 in the Qamishli area and 24 in the Kobani area.

The statement comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, adopted on 22 October a memorandum to resolve the situation on the Syrian-Turkish border in light of Ankara's offensive targeting the Kurdish forces. Under the document, Russian military police and Syrian border guards are facilitating the withdrawal of Kurdish militia from an 18-mile zone on the border within a 150-hour time frame that began on 23 October.

The US has a history of controlling the OPCW to promote regime change

GW Bush & John Bolton
Partners in Crime
You wouldn't know it from today's news headlines, but there's a major scandal unfolding with potentially far-reaching consequences for the entire international community. The political/media class has been dead silent about the fact that there are now two whistleblowers whose revelations have cast serious doubts on a chemical weapons watchdog group that is widely regarded as authoritative, despite the fact that this same political/media class has been crowing all month about how important whistleblowers are and how they need to be protected ever since a CIA spook exposed some dirt on the Trump administration.

When the Courage Foundation and WikiLeaks published the findings of an interdisciplinary panel which received an extensive presentation from a whistleblower from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) investigation of an alleged 2018 chlorine gas attack in Douma, Syria, it was left unclear (perhaps intentionally) whether this was the same whistleblower who leaked a dissenting Engineering Assessment to the Working Group on Syria, Propaganda and Media this past May or a different one. Subsequent comments from British journalist Jonathan Steele assert that there are indeed two separate whistleblowers from within the OPCW's Douma investigation, both of whom claim that their investigative findings differed widely from the final OPCW Douma report and were suppressed from the public by the organization.

The official final report aligned with the mainstream narrative promulgated by America's political/media class that the Syrian government killed dozens of civilians in Douma using cylinders of chlorine gas dropped from the air, while the two whistleblowers found that this is unlikely to have been the case. The official report did not explicitly assign blame to Assad, but it said its findings were in alignment with a chlorine gas attack and included a ballistics report which strongly implied an air strike (opposition fighters in Syria have no air force). The whistleblowers dispute both of these conclusions.

Best of the Web: Lavrov denounces US military's oil moves in Syria as 'arrogant & illegal' at Russian-Turkish-Iranian press event

Comment: The foreign ministers were in Geneva for the kick-off of the new Syrian constitutional committee, a process largely driven by Russia...

Cavusoglu zarif lavrov

The US was "arrogant" to send its troops to guard oilfields in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said, adding that it remains unclear from whom the installations need to be protected.

The actions of the Americans in Syria violate international law, as their presence in the country is "illegal," Lavrov reiterated, appearing alongside his Iranian and Turkish counterparts at a press-conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
The statement that this [US] presence is needed to protect the oil riches of Syria is arrogant. It turns out that they are being protected from Syria itself.

Comment: The U.S. is no more than a thief in the night, claiming to be a helpful, if uninvited, guest. There is no other way to put it.
The oil fields in question were traditionally used to meet domestic demands and are too small to be interesting to Washington in terms of profit, journalist and orientalist Andrey Ontikov told RT.

One clue might be in the words of US Defense Secretary Mark Esper, who said the purpose of keeping the troops in Syria is to "deny access to [IS] and any other groups that may want to seek that revenue to enable their own malign activities." (emphasis added)

This phrasing is a dead giveaway that the oil gambit is not about IS, but about blocking the government in Damascus from using its own natural resources to rebuild. Already under a blockade by the US and its EU allies, Syria desperately needs the oil to help its people survive the winter. "Malign activities" is a phrase Washington often uses in reference to Iran, a strategic partner and ally of the Syrian government.

If that sounds to you like a policy designed by someone from the Washington establishment, which has dreamed of regime change in Damascus for the past eight years and greeted Trump's decision with wailing and gnashing of teeth, you are not alone. NBC News has even named a possible culprit - retired General Jack Keane, a Fox News military analyst, who they say gave Trump a briefing about the oil fields.

Warning: Biden could suffer humiliating loss in Iowa say top Democrats

Joe Biden
© epaFormer VP and presidential candidate, Joe Biden
Joe Biden risks a humiliating third- or fourth-place finish in Iowa early next year, according to nearly a dozen senior Democrats in the state who attribute the prospect to what they see as a poorly organized operation that has failed to engage with voters and party leaders.

With fewer than 100 days until the Feb. 3 caucuses, Biden is failing to spend the time with small groups of voters and party officials that Iowans expect and his campaign's outreach has been largely ineffective, according to 11 senior Democrats in the state. That could send Biden to a crippling loss behind Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg, who have highly organized campaigns in Iowa, said the Democrats, most of whom requested anonymity to speak candidly about the campaign.

Mifsud - the missing link in FBI's 'Russiagate'

Mifsud
© Stephan RohMaltese professor Joseph Mifsud pictured in May 2018.
A new question about the mysterious Maltese professor Joseph Mifsud is: What did he say on a taped deposition handed to the team of special Justice Department investigator John Durham?

Mr. Mifsud is a subject on Mr. Durham's agenda. The Washington Times reported that Mr. Durham, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, obtained two Mifsud BlackBerry cellphones. Stephan Roh, Mr. Mifsud's attorney, told The Times he provided the deposition recording to Mr. Durham's team in midsummer.

Mr. Mifsud's April 2016 conversation with a Trump associate ignited the FBI's long Trump-Russia probe. In May 2018, Mr. Mifsud sat in Mr. Roh's law office in Zurich recounting his time as an academic traveling in Europe, from London to Rome to Paris to Moscow.

Mr. Roh contends that Mr. Mifsud, who has been in hiding for months, was not just a peripatetic professor but also a Western "intelligence operative" who fed what he knew to retired officials.
