Kiev knew exactly where Ukrainian prisoners of war were being held when it ordered a strike on the detention facility in Donbass, Eduard Basurin, the spokesman for the army of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), claimed.

The attack on the prison near the village of Yelenovka on Friday morning claimed the lives of 53 people, with 75 more injured, according to the DPR. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the facility had held members of Ukraine's Azov Battalion, whose fighters surrendered to Russian and Donbass forces during the siege of the Azovstal steel factory in Mariupol. The battalion is notorious for having fighters with nationalist and neo-Nazi views.

Basurin told journalists without elaborating:
"I would like to note that Ukraine itself determined the place of detention of prisoners of war, so they knew exactly where they were kept and in what place."

Iran gains access to Russian Mir payment cards

In the latest example of U.S. sanctions sparking new financial ties between out-of-favor countries, Iranians will soon be able to make payments with Russia's Mir bank cards. The move will provide some relief to everyday Iranian people and businesses victimized by economic sanctions.

"I think this payment system will be activated in Iran soon," Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Medhi Safari said Wednesday, according to Russia's RIA news. Mir translates into both "the world" and "peace."

The Mir card system was introduced by Russia's central bank in 2015 after MasterCard and Visa were forced by the U.S. sanctions regime into terminating business with several Russian banks. Up to that point, MasterCard and Visa accounted for 90% of payments in Russia. After Russia's February invasion of Ukraine, remaining Russian banks lost their Visa and MasterCard relationships.

Mir's reach has spread to many other countries and territories, including: South Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Work is underway to enable the cards' use in Cuba and the United Arab Emirates. More than 100 million Mir cards have been issued to date.

Algeria hints at joining BRICS

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has reportedly said that his country is interested in joining the BRICS and is close to qualifying for membership in the group.

In an interview on Sunday with a state-owned broadcaster the president said Algeria largely meets the conditions for joining BRICS already. The group is named for its member states - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - and it plans to consider adding Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt at its summit next year.

At this year's BRICS summit, held online in June, the format was expanded to include participation by 13 other countries, including Algeria. President Tebboune was the first guest to speak, calling for "a new economic order where parity and equity between countries will reign."
"Our past experiences have shown us that the imbalance recorded on the international scene and the marginalization of emerging countries within world bodies constitute a source of instability, lack of equity and absence of development."
BRICS nations already account for more than 40% of the world's population.

Regime instability in Kiev?

kiev maiden
The 2014 coup in Kiev
Western leaders, led by US President Joe Biden, have opted for an eternal proxy war against Russia at least until Ukraine 'wins' the war started when Russian forces invaded its western neighbor on February 24th. Biden let the cat out of the bag when he stated the goal of massive Western military and financial assistance to Kiev is to spark regime change or at least the the removal from power of Russia's popular, of authoritarian president, Vladimir Putin. However, as Ukraine's military forces are slowly whittled away, there is a growing evidence of major regime splitting, a precondition for military or state coups, revolts, revolutions, and other forms of regime change.

The destabilization of the Maidan regime can be expected extrapolating from some factors and is being increasingly evidenced by several others. The expectation of destabilization is supported by:
  1. the historical pattern of military defeats leading to regime destabilization and sometimes state coups or revolutions and
  2. Zelenskiy's actually weak popular support. Evidence of regime destabilization is can be seen in the state's growing authoritarianism and in splits within the regime's elite.
These trends will only deepen as Kiev faces further military defeats and perhaps collapse of the Ukrainian army and affiliated neofascist dominated national battalions, likely candidates to organize a coup or societal uprising.

Fyodor Lukyanov: Why are Serbia and Kosovo on the brink of war again?

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic
© Olivier Matthys/Copyright 2022 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic
Tensions between Belgrade and Pristina occur regularly, as a result of the fact that the Kosovo issue has not been resolved since 1999, when the province de facto gained independence after the US-led NATO campaign against the former Yugoslavia.

However, this time there is a risk of more or less routine friction escalating into a dangerous conflict, because the context has changed dramatically.

The problem of Kosovo was solved at the end of the twentieth century in strict accordance with the then dominant approach, and in the seeming absence of an alternative. Disputes in most of Europe (ie. outside the former USSR) were settled according to the EU's ideas of fairness, and where they could not be worked out amicably, pressure was exerted on those who rebelled, up to the use of military force (primarily American, as always).

Comment: WaPo reports:
The latest flare-up in tensions is tied to new rules over license plates and cross-border travel documents.

Under new regulations that were meant to take effect on Aug. 1, ethnic Serbs living in villages in northern Kosovo would have had to apply for license plates issued by Kosovar authorities for their vehicles. Since the 1998-99 war, some in that population had used Serbian license plates with a different status. Authorities in Kosovo tolerated the dual-track system to preserve the peace but said last year they would no longer do so.

Another rule would have forced Serbian nationals visiting Kosovo to get an additional entry-exit document from Kosovar authorities at the border. Previously, they could enter without it. Serbia imposes a similar rule on Kosovars seeking to cross its borders.
After consulting with EU and U.S. ambassadors the Kosovo government has since postponed the implementation until September amid tensions between police and local communities. Serbian protestors set up roadblocks and rang alarms on Sunday "while special police took control over two administrative crossings with Serbia, preparing to implement the order by Pristina". Kosovar authorities claimed shots were fired in their direction but that no one was wounded.

Reuters reported that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova weighed in, blaming the tension on "groundless discriminatory rules" imposed by Kosovo authorities. Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov also said:
"Of course, we absolutely support Serbia," Peskov replied, after being addressed on the issue by journalists on Monday.

The decision by the Kosovo authorities to outlaw Serbian license plates and IDs was "absolutely unreasonable," he stated.

While NATO is "prepared to intervene":

Lukashenko says Russia and Belarus could become 'closer'

LukashenkoPutin

The Belarusian leader believes Moscow and Minsk could form a union stronger than a federation or confederation and stay independent

Russia and Belarus could form a union stronger than a federation or confederation without losing their sovereignty, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Monday as he appointed a new ambassador to Russia.

As reported by local media outlets, the Belarusian leader noted that his country's sovereignty and independence were "a constant."

"The West is generating this idea that we are losing our sovereignty and independence by cooperating with Russia," Lukashenko told Dmitry Krutoi, the new Belarusian ambassador to Russia, adding that the question of Belarusian sovereignty is not even up for discussion.

Comment: While this idea has been floated for years, Lukashenko, along with his government, are smart cookies, and see the writing on the wall with respect to the West. Putin has never in his time in leadership 'said one thing, and done another'.

Pelosi being used as bait?

CNN News
© CNN
CNN and many other outlets now reporting on air and in print, that Pelosi does plan to visit Taiwan despite her itinerary and the threats from the Chinese Military. CNN claims are basing this off of one Taiwanese government official claiming she has "sources". And CNN claim they have verified it with an unnamed "senior US government official familiar with the matter".

Why would Pelosi, and the Office of the Speaker of the House, lie about the itinerary? It's not like she's going to sneak into Taiwan without the Chinese military finding out. What does she benefit from lying? I don't see how she does.

If Pelosi truly is going, and she is attempting to mask her travel there, wouldn't Taiwan attempt to assist her in keeping her movement incognito? If Taiwan and Pelosi are on the same team, why would Taiwanese government officials expose Nancy's plan? I don't see how Taiwan would gain from leaking this. If she is visiting, and they wanted the word out, why wouldn't they announce it officially?

The only party involved who I could see benefiting from reporting on these unnamed sources, would be the left-wing media and their Deep State overlords who would significantly benefit from China and the US initiating kinetic warfare. And when CNN uses the language "senior US official familiar with the matter"... history tells me those reports are fake news. And the fact the left-wing media are so eager to report on these unsubstantiated "sources", tells me it supports their narrative, otherwise they wouldn't talk about it. Meaning they WANT Pelosi to go to Taiwan, therefore they want WW3.

The only scenario I see that makes sense, is the media are pushing this narrative to try and coax the Chinese into striking Pelosi's plane in an attempt to cause a distraction via WW3, and derail the upcoming red wave in the midterms.

Gazprom cuts gas deliveries to Latvia over 'contract violations'

latvia gas pipeline
Russian state-run natural gas giant Gazprom announced on June 30 that it has halted gas shipments to Latvia because of contract violations.

Russia has already cut off gas supplies to Poland, Bulgaria, Finland, the Netherlands, and Denmark, which refused to pay for gas in line with an order by President Vladimir Putin requiring ruble accounts to be set up in a Russian bank as part of a new settlement scheme.

In a brief statement, gas giant Gazprom said the shipments were stopped because Latvia broke "terms for extraction of gas." It did not elaborate.

The move by Gazprom comes a day after the Latvian energy company Latvijas Gaze said it was buying gas from Russia but not from Gazprom, without naming from whom. It also said it was paying in euros and not in rubles.

Oh, and make sure to punch yourself in the face -- to really give Putin what he deserves! Fauci, Birx, & the small-print that destroyed America

fauci birks
In a maddening interview yesterday, Anthony Fauci performed his usual song and dance when faced with even the most mild questioning. He stonewalled in his trademarked way.

He spoke in long, drawn-out sentences, emphasizing the word consonants, punctuated by pauses and silences that convey the sense of precision without the reality. He strung together terms that seem vaguely scientific which intimidated his interviewers into an overly cautious pose.

"Oh wow, I'm interviewing a very powerful person," the interviewer thinks, "so I had better not say anything wrong!"

He's been pulling this trick for 40 years. He is very good at it.

Ankara's comments come after it announced plans for a new military offensive against US-backed Kurdish militants.

Turkey's top diplomat has pledged to assist the Syrian government in efforts to oust Kurdish fighters based in the country's northeast, regarded as "terrorists" by Ankara, despite a recent spike in tensions after Turkey made good on threats to take military action on its own.

Speaking to Turkish broadcaster TV100 for an interview on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said his country is prepared to work alongside Damascus against Kurdish militants fighting under the banner of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
